How does your game meet GBJam's theme
In Kota Chomp, the longer poop sits on the board, the older it gets, until it turns to gold.

This Old Gold is the ultimate food, helping Kota grow stronger and faster.

The more Old Gold you consume, the closer you get to becoming a GOLDEN GOD!

Poop grow old. Poop turn gold.

Eat, grow, poop, and become the golden god of all kots.

Very cute game,  no notes :)

I think this game is good. It reminded me of the Snake game.

Ahahaha, I liked the golden flake sardines as a concept, because I’ve seen so many fish companies try to use gold as part of their branding/advertising! I’m terrible at snake games, and struggled a bit with delays, but the animations and sprites were adorable. I could eat so many things! I liked the music though, and felt it and the sound effects really matched the vibe of the game.

My biggest issue was when running into walls. The bounceback was a bit jarring, and it locked inputs just long enough that I could occasionally mess up my timing and, uh…. run into the wall again, oops. Overall though, a fun little game! Nice job!

I wasn't expecting to play a snake-like in this jam, so that's pretty cool. I really enjoyed all of the twists you included, from the fish and the mice to eating poop and even yourself as a consequence but not necessarily an automatic lose state.

I would love to know how you managed the snake mechanic in GB Studio, especially with how much interactivity is happening.

Excellent job, super fun game!

Thanks! The cat actually only uses two sprites: the head and tail, so a 100-length cat costs the same as a 2-length one. The rest of the body is handled with tile swaps using Mico27’s MetaTile Plugin. Food and poop are tiles too.

To keep each frame light, we split the logic across several frames: head movement, tail movement, collision checks, then the mice. The mice are sprites as well.

Absolute wizardry. Thank you for the insights!

really fun idea, and a great way to interpret the 2nd theme

Neat idea!  Also, cats.  I really like being able to eat my own corpse after a mistake, suddenly turns into a slightly different game.

This was an incredibly creative take on the the prompt! I liked how you turned Snake into a more involved game with a home base, warping, and pests/hazards. And it was really cool to evolve and have to learn how to deal with the larger sprite.

I think my favorite part was the music, it was really quirky and cute, it fit the game really well!
