As much as I kept telling myself to move on to the next one, I couldn't stop myself from continuing to play this one until the end. Nice simple concept that was executed quite well!

One note, if I try to merge/buy/sell multiple cards in the same trip to deck management, something gets corrupted. I got set back multiple times when my best animals got mysteriously changed into a different animal.

Developer

Yeah there was some bugs in merging and stuff, I tried my best to have it as clean as possible but it still had some leaks, then Time and Skill got in the way

Well played this one for the most time so far :) Had to get at least one gem. Really enjoyed it. With a bit of tweaking to game flow and some different cards this would take up a lot of my time. Great fun style as well.

Developer

Yeah i wanted to make some adjustments but time and skill got in the way

I really enjoyed playing it. It would just be nice to have a skip function or something to speed things up, but otherwise, it's a good game—well done.

Developer

You could skip the battle result with space bar, but granted it was a last minute addition so wasn't very obvious but thank you for playing.

What a great game. Spent a long time building up the gems. Pays to open up the slots as soon as you can to really start raking in the cash. Love the animal graphics gives the game a really nice fun feel. Great job.

Developer

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it could have done more but single handed and limited time and knowledge

I think this game is great for someone who just starting playing card games. It has basic maths and helps to understand how card fights happens. The only thing that disapointed me here was that turning card into gem removed my strongest card :(. Overall, I like this game :)

Developer(+1)

Yeah I feel that, but I thought since you always start at the same point merging 3* should only be done when your ready but you are 100% right. If I could go back you'd get a special card at that merge thanks for playing

Sadly the music is sooooo quiet I can’t hear it. The card game is nice but a bit too slow. Though I figured spamming space makes it a bit faster. It’s a really nice concept!

Developer(+1)

I thought I'd added plus and minus to turn the music up or down, but I'm not sure if it worked with main music but from my testing it seemed okay.

But thanks for playing and yeah it is a slow progression but that's by design but it shouldn't feel too slow so might need some adjustments at some point

I've never really played a deck building game before, so take all of this with a grain of salt. I found it hard to get ahead and get stronger cards, or figure out how much cards would sell for. There was something missing, I'm not sure what it was but maybe play by play? Like "So and so does this much damage so and so strikes back". I did keep playing so that says positive things! The facts were hard to find, but I was glad to see the educational value!

Developer

Firstly thanks for playing and while you've never really played a deck game. I've never made a game so I'm glad we could share this moment of firsts together.

Yeah your right and I did want to adjust the battle sequence but time and skill limit I did what I could.

So the sale value was on the deck management screen but feedback has made me realise it wasn't as clear as I thought it was.

The facts yeh I tried to make unlockable red when you has something new but again wasn't as clear as I thought it was

But thanks for playing and thanks for commenting twice ;)

I like the overall game idea, execution is hit or miss.

Very confusing at the start. Why do you let the player "Start Journey", which sounds like "Start Game", when they don't have any cards? Just prevent that if you know it doesn't work! Almost feels like you're trying to trick new players.

The main gameplay loop is great, and I like the concept and general incremental design around it.

I like the visuals in general, though definitely could use some basic animations to help tell the player what is happening. e.g. show damage amount temporarily, not just resulting hp. showing that the player healed. showing your stats change when you change cards. when the enemy changes (especially if it's the same type of enemy) and other things like that.

Battle Results screen is obnoxiously slow (would be fine if skippable).

Progression is really really slow, i would have preferred it a lot faster. also related is stronger enemies don't give more, which feels bad. Feels too grindy in general. I don't mind some amount of that, but the time between meaningful decisions was too long most of the time.

Health card seemed to do nothing? i gave it to one of my creatures or used it, the card disappeared and the creature didn't gain hp, and neither did i

Music is nice, sound is mostly good, though battle sounds are pretty weak, and should be varied (based on enemy, and based on death or not)

I kept playing partially because i wanted to see what would happen when i combined two level 3 cards. instead of a nice big reward, you are very heavily punished as the player, by losing some of your best cards... without warning. oof.

Sorry for the long list, I did like it overall, and congrats on the project!

Developer(+1)

Thanks,

Yeah the start is a little confusing and I tried to explain it best I could in the how to play but your right I should have made it more obvious or user friendly.

I did want to adjust the battle animation but I just ran out of time. But everything you say is valid and was on the to do list.

The battle result could have been skipped with the space bar but again something I failed to make clear.

Yeah I wanted to adjust progression, I again ran out of time to properly test it.

And yeah the 3* card thing would need changing or something

Yeah there is a small bug with cards getting eaten but I can't consistently replicate it or trace it.

Also never apologise for a long list. The feedback is welcomed

I like the game idea, but I would have liked a bit more of an intro to what the game is about. No reaction to UI elements made it feel a little flat. Some battle animations or juice would have made this feel like a demo for a full game. Overall, it was a fun battle sim!

Developer

Yeah I was going to tweek the battle animations just ran out of time, and yeah no react to the UI is my bad Silly Oversight :)

Submitted

Great entry! Fun to play and the grind is worth it. Well done.

Took me a while to figure out UI but all around great submisson

Developer(+1)

Thank you, yeah i tried something new and im proud of the outcome some new things were defo learned :)

A bit more time in polish would be cool like hover over things, mouse changes small things could go a long way. I was a bit monoton from the game loop itself small effects or tweens could make it more appealing then seeing a number goes down :D.

Also please don’t scale pixel art like that >__< It looks ehh stretched alot :D

Developer

Yeah i had alot of them things in my "polish" to do list but it just didnt happen, It was a bit of a slog learning and doing something new cos i didnt want to just do another platformer

Submitted(+1)

My cards just keep despawning.

Developer

Yeah a few reported that but i couldnt replicate it and i couldnt see any reason why. Cards are Mergeable, and i think the boosters is prob where the issue lies but Ran out of time to really deep dive

This was fun, Looked good and played well, was a little long having the stats each time after a battle however just a minor gripe. Really enjoyed the game idea however.

Developer(+1)

Yeah I added a Skip on the Battle Results with Space, to speed it up

I had some initial trouble with the font and had to go back and read the instructions to fully get what to do, but once I did it was a fun little "just one more" chase to get my first gem unlocked.

Developer

Glad you liked it, I really liked the font but i was conscious that it wasnt the easiest to read

Submitted(+1)

Found it a little hard to grasp, im not a card games player really so bit of an unfair bias!
Aesthetics are pleasing! Audio is great

Developer

Yeah i tried to do something new, basically your just merging cards and upgrading in order to get the gems
