I couldn't decide if "how it sounds" was a 1 star or a 5 star rating, because it's just SO VISCERAL ... but in the end I decided that merited five stars for effective disgust response! XD
Agree with the other jumps, jump on key down instead of up would make it feel a lot more responsive. But having said that its a fun game, flows nicely, large levels. Sounds are very well done, dread to think how you came up with them. Quirky fun game.
Really couldn't get to grips with jumping on key release rather than key press, going to need to work some more on this. Going to be coming back to this during my second round of voting.
Sounds made me feel very weird... It's very hard jumping mechanic - it lags behind clicks, that makes hard to estimate some actions. Also, got into some room that I could not exit later. Well, that's interesting idea :)
Having jump happen on key up instead of key down feels very strange compared to other games which normally have jump trigger instantly when the button/key is pressed. Wasn't sure what to do after killing the blue bubble thing on the right and seemed to be softlocked since I couldn't jump back out.
I feel like HypnotiK made this game to torture me personally XD It involves everything I'm not good at in games LOL Was fun to play though, I think people enjoyed watching me suffer :)
Controls are clunky with a lot of input delay, and the mismatch between level layout and jump height meant that I was constantly finding myself in situations where I was stuck in a very small area with nothing to do.
I already have to hear those sounds all day, I didn’t need to hear them again! :p Although I did actually mute the audio due to ‘tism, I assume it’s a funny for other people :D Hitting teh enemies was a bit difficult sadly so I constly kept dying.
While not my kind of humor, I could see people enjoying it. It was really hard, on my machine M4 Mac Mini running Tahoe and Brave browser the lag on the controls made it very difficult to play. I had a tough time exploring because of the control lag. It would be interesting to play again if that could be remedied.
I don't mind the silly idea.
Visuals and sound are pretty decent for a jam.
I have to say though that the platforming and fighting were pretty rough. First noticeable issue is that jumping only happens when you let go of space. This is really counterintuitive for someone like me who has played lots of platforming games. It might be okay if there's a good reason for it, but there doesn't seem to be one in terms of gameplay mechanics around that. Also there's zero control over jump height. The map seems quite big, but it's unclear where to go, and I think I reached a dead end, there was a pit with a single worm in it. I tried for a whole minute to either get out or kill the worm, and I couldn't get out and the worm seemed invincible. Eventually I died and that was it.
IMO focusing on a single screen + enemy and making that good and fun by itself would help with this type of game,, more so than a huge level with enemy variety.
Definitely a silly game and feels like a parody of something. I like the overall direction of the idea, but it felt very rigid in both controls and what to do. I think the level felt very large, with no significant way to know where to go or what to do. I think with some movement cleanup and distinct level indicators, this would be a fun platformer to fart around in.
Nice game, it was funny although the sounds were a little off putting. Well done.
Somehow movement controller feels floaty and not very satisfying and cause its the core game loop it feels in general not very good. Also the sound makes me unconfortable. Sorry Hypnotik the other games you made was much better :/
The background audio made me wonder if i was hungry and the dash sfx was on point, but I didn't actually seem to find anything to interact with nor how to read the journal during my various plays (I killed a bunch of enemies).
I can only imagine that sounded incredibly accurate lol. This was somewhat tough to get the hang off and for sure will need to revisit but learnt some interesting things and the mechanics worked well.
made me laugh! audio was.... "convincing"!
