The contrast between the minimal visuals and the 3D dice animations was a pleasant surprise. I liked how the design is built around chain reactions. Personally, I had trouble controlling the paddle, and in the later stages I kept getting taken out in a single hit. Even though luck plays a big part, I thought it was a really polished game.

I’m really glad you enjoyed my game, and I’m very sorry you had trouble controlling the paddle! I primarily designed the controls with mobile in mind, but I also tried to make the PC version work as well as possible, including support for both mouse and keyboard.

I’ll definitely keep your feedback in mind for future updates and try to come up with a more suitable control system. Thanks again for playing and for the feedback! :)

Really liked it! You made that low-rez look really work, especially with those 1-bit(tish), but still 3d dice :) Could even see the game work as the combat system in a larger fantasy game.

Developer

Thank you so much! I’m really glad you liked the game! :) And honestly, your idea could be really great! A fantasy world where battles are fought using magical dice. It could turn out to be a really unique mechanic!

This is such an amazing mashup, I wish the paddle in the bottom stayed a lot longer, I can see some crazy damage outputs coming out of that.

It does need a light background music but the overall game is solid and fun.

Developer

Thank you! I’m really happy you enjoyed it!

Thank you very much for your suggestions as well! Regarding the paddle, I initially limited its lives a bit to prevent players from creating overly long combos right away and one-shotting all the bosses. I did, however, add an unlockable passive ability that lets you increase the paddle’s lives. ;)
I’ll definitely try to improve the balance, so that longer combos can be achieved from the start without making the bosses feel completely useless.

As for the background music, you’re absolutely right! Unfortunately, there wasn’t much time available for the jam, and I didn’t manage to work on the music as well.

Thanks again for your feedback, and good luck with your game!

Looks cool, but the tap and drag mechanic doesnt really work for me?

Developer

Thank you for the feedback!

I’ll definitely take another look at the tap and drag controls. I wanted to keep the controls simple and intuitive for mobile, but I can see how they might not feel very natural for everyone. If the touch controls made it difficult to enjoy Rollrend, I’d recommend trying the alternative keyboard controls on PC: the arrow keys for movement, Space for actions, and E to open the ability panel.

Thanks again for trying the game!
