What a wonderful and mysterious entry for this jam! I really enjoyed how the story unfolds and the way you guide the player throughout the game. It’s fantastic how well you balanced the puzzles, because with careful observation and exploration, it’s almost impossible to get stuck.

I’d say this is one of the most original games I’ve seen so far, from the art style (which, by the way, is beautifully hand-drawn) to the character designs and atmosphere. Everything feels so unique. The audio was also excellent, blending seamlessly with the rest of the experience.

Your interpretation of the theme was really clever and intriguing, which contributed to making the experience so unique. It’s an ambitious project that turned out incredibly well, even with the unexpected setbacks you faced during development.

Congratulations on the game, and best of luck in the jam!

Well done on this unique entry! I reached the end and matched all of the inconsistent pairs, but really couldnt figure out the mystery! But i loved the story and the intrigue of it all. It is quite well written and the game is forgving enough to let you progress through all of it. Even the matching section was quite simple, and i really didnt apply logic, but just tried to match the pairs!

The artwork is great, loved the hand drawn aesthetic, and the UI is very clean and consistent. SFX was perfect for this type of game and every little interaction had some feedback which felt pleasing.

I love your interpretation of the theme and how it is executed, great work :)

WOAH, THIS IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL AND MYSTERIOUS TAKE ON “THE LONG WAY HOME”! 🧠🏠🎨✨

I really enjoyed how the journey home is connected to recovering the reason why the character left in the first place. The hand drawn art gives the game so much personality, and the atmosphere works perfectly with the psychological mystery. The puzzles also feel nicely connected to exploring the world and slowly piecing together the story.

I think the biggest thing to improve would be making important interactions and objectives a little clearer, especially with the inventory and some of the clues. A few extra visual cues or small dialogue hints could help players stay immersed without giving the puzzles away. The supporting character art and interaction UI could also get another polish pass to match the strong main-character style.

SUCH AN IMPRESSIVE FIRST JAM GAME! 🎨🧠🔥 Getting a story-focused mystery like this together in only about 3 days while working around a job is seriously impressive. Great atmosphere, great concept, and I’d definitely love to see more from this world. Good luck with the jam! 🏠✨🎮

Very ambitious project! I enjoyed the puzzles- they were always enough to make me check the surroundings and figure things out, but never got me stuck for good. That's a good balance. The atmosphere was also a strong part of this game.

The graphics could use some polish. The main character looked nice with the detailed silhouette and it would be nice if the other ones had similar levels of detail.

Over all- it's always good to see a plot centric interpretation of a jam theme like this! Keep it up!

thanks for the feedback!

i was trying to make the graphics, but decided to use assets online, the things that i drew myself was the player, and also some of the static places ( office, bank, pawnshop, etc)

what a interesting game, nice art and atmosphere, i felt lost the first time cause i get the cellphone an when i see tha password i cant reopen to see the phone anywhere, later i discover that with full screen appeaars the info button for the inventory xd check that cause in the initial resolution the info are hide.

Other that that looks great, nice puzzles and amazing game.

good job.

Really liking this game, but completely stuck on the pin for the bank. No idea what year it's supposed to be. Seems it's not the same as the phone code.

Developer(+1)

the year is actually on the watch, you can search for it on your inventory!

Finished! The game had nice art and atmosphere and an intriguing mystery that unfolds well, letting  us analyze what might have happened as we slowly pieced back together Gene's forgotten past. Are we supposed combine more than three points on the board at the end or is Gene meant to remain a bit uncertain?

Thanks for letting me know where the date was. I never realized there was an inventory until then. It might help players find it better if, after finding the old plane ticket, Gene says something like "this is of no practical use, but I want to keep it with me," then the game adds in parenthesis to "(Press I to view Inventory.)"

This has so much personality!

I don’t usually get into these types of games, but this was a fun way to weave a mystery. I love the visuals. The main character design reminds me of Truth from FULL METAL ALCHEMIST. The audio matches the quality of rest of the game well.

My one critique would be the selection boxes around interactables like the manager’s door don’t match the rest of the game.

Great submission!

I really enjoyed this game! The hand-drawn style gives it a lot of personality, and I liked how the story slowly reveals more about the main character. The way the game uses the theme works really well too. It’s a short experience, but it left a nice impression. Great job!

Good job! It's not my type of game, but I finished it! For only three days of work, it's impressive. As other people have said, even the itch.io page is beautiful. Good job on the story. If I could, I would have played more!

Here I have to talk more about the itch.io page than the game itself. You customized it beautifully, and it makes the whole experience feel special even before you start playing!

As for the game, I really like the style you went for, although I found it a little rough around the edges here and there. It’s very simple, but also really fun to play. Overall, great job! :))))

thank youu!

this is my first time making a story telling game like this, and for the art itself i drew it myself  literally on mspaint hehe

Wow, that was a great game! I love the deeper use of the theme, the literal "long way home" in the neighborhood especially hit hard. Fantastic job for only having 3 days, I especially like the airport options that let you choose to leave or give you the option to wait before getting on the plane.

My only minor note is that I couldn't figure out where to go after getting the money from the bank for a bit, it could maybe use some way of highlighting the sign or maybe I missed some dialogue about going to the bus stop.

Great job getting this done around work, for being a shorter experience it hit home and used the theme extremely well!

thanks for the feedback!

i also tried a full playthrough of the game and i get it can be quite confusing with no objective being highlighted
