Very funny casual game! I tried it on desktop so hard mode, the design is simple but very well executed with a good amount of variety, the cellular water is also well handled and the chain theme is used in an original way, great work!

Smooth, minimalistic, cute. I thought I could beat all levels by simply swimming, but then the fish appeared - nice design!

Nice take on Frogger! I played the game on mobile and the timing on how long you could share a leaf with a turtle was a bit tight. I also didn’t know till I messed up that you could swim, you might want to incorporate that in a tutorial.

Developer

Thanks for playing @Pigbert. I'll add delay to the turtle and maybe increase the size of the shrinking ring so its more obvious (hopefully). Yes, there's definitely a need for a proper onboarding tutorial.

these turtles are just hillarious XD
love the main jump feature! Looks so simple yet there must be very fitting narrative and overall concept to it. I think you found a very nice and fitting one

Developer

Thanks for playing @luckynii. Narrative is simple for the jam: "Just a tiny frog trying to get home." Maybe I'll flesh out a proper narrative after this.

Hopping across the pond felt great once I figured out the controls — the water ripple shader really sells the atmosphere for such a simple scene, and the little squash animation when the frog lands is a nice touch. It took me a moment to realize arrow-key hold was the way to aim distance (I tried clicking/tapping first per the on-screen hint and nothing happened), so a quick visual cue for aim strength could help first-time players. Solid, calming jam entry!

Developer

Thanks for playing @TheJoyPlusSoft. Glad you noticed the subtle squash animations too, it's the little things that add to the personality of the game. I agree I need to improve the UX / UI for the aiming as it's not immediately apparent... maybe I need to add a quick tutorial screen showing how the controls work.

Really digged the idea, although the game starts as a puzzle-ish and ends up being more action oriented. Not sure where do you want to go with the idea though, but it could go both ways depending on where do you want to take the hopping mechanic. Nice jam submission!

Developer

Thanks @perons for playing. I'm thinking it will probably head towards a puzzle direction with some action. The idea behind the last level is a "boss" level with the heron chasing the frog to add some "excitement".
