How does your game interpret and use the theme?
The long way home flips the theme. Usually the long way home means someone traveling back to where they came from.
Amira’s country is at war, and the only place she can call home is wherever her family is, across a border

Easter Eggs
I was able to include a little Easter egg in the demo 😅 that being the developer popping up as a chat and having a fun interaction with the player when they get the passcode puzzle wrong 10 times in a row
Did you use Farclip and want to be considered for the Farclip Award? (optional)

The idea is so unique, the game is touching a sensible point, it definetely an emotional journey and it makes you feel connected with the NPCs. The sound is also fit for the game. Very good job!
YOOO, THIS ONE IS SUCH A POWERFUL AND CREATIVE TAKE ON THE THEME! 😭🔥
The whole idea of guiding Amira through a war-torn country using nothing but text messages is honestly so unique. 📱💔 I really love how you've turned “The Long Way Home” into something deeper than just finding a way back — it's about trying to reunite with the people who make a place feel like home. That gives the story such a meaningful emotional connection!
The phone interface, combination of real images and illustrations, and sound design work together really well too! ✨ It makes the experience feel surprisingly realistic, and the idea of helping someone navigate such a dangerous journey through messages is genuinely memorable. And that little developer Easter egg? 😂 Such a fun extra touch!
One thing I'd love to see is a few more meaningful choices that influence Amira's journey, along with a little more time to connect with the characters. I feel like that could make the emotional moments hit even harder and help players feel more involved in her story. 👀💙
Honestly, you've got a really interesting concept here, and I'd love to see how far you could take it beyond this demo. Sometimes, the longest journey isn't about reaching a place — it's about getting back to the people you love. 🥹❤️
Amazing work, dev!! Keep cooking, and best of luck with the jam and all your future projects! 🚀✨
what a good game, the history looks really cool and the UI art, feels really great.
Teh combination of art, images, photos, feels really cool, a very good potencial with this demo, keep it up.
Really good entry.
Wow, the UI is really on point! It honestly felt like using a real phone, and putting the in-game settings into the phone itself is such a nice touch, even with different colors to choose from. I like this a lot!
The mix of real images and drawings works really well too, and overall the art style is just great.
Together with the sounds, the whole atmosphere feels really good and makes the situation feel very real, which is not easy with such a heavy topic... Guiding someone home through via text messages is a really strong and different take on the theme. Gameplay wise it was a bit "annoying" for me though: it feels like you're leading the conversation, but for the main parts you can't actually choose anything, so I sometimes felt more like I was reading along than really guiding Amira. Even a few more choices that change how she reacts would make it feel much more personal, and I think that would also help to connect with the characters more, since the story moves quite fast right now. But I really see the potential here, this could become something really special! :)
Very nice and polish game ! the story was good to ! Wanted to save her ! the only thing i would love its i could use the map more to guide her .
But i love it !
Good Job !
It's not often we see a narrative game in a jam so that's already worth some mention. I also must say that the topic you chose is bold yet very interesting, I was very invested from the get go.
Now on the technical side it's very well put together, so great work!
Very polished game! I love the customization options in the top rigth! You really did a good job at capturing the feel of a real messenger app. Furthermore, I can see the potential of decision making in this game, since it could influence the daughter's destiny. Great work!
The presentation here is really convincing. The messaging interface feels very close to something you’d actually use on a modern phone, and that helped sell the idea immediately. The sound design also works well, though I think the overall mix could use a little more balancing.
The main thing I struggled with was getting invested in the story early on.
There’s a lot happening pretty quickly, and I wasn’t always sure how the pieces connected or why I should care beyond the basic parent/daughter relationship. A little more context or character development early on could make the emotional stakes land much harder.
Thematically, the concept has a lot of potential. If the story fully pays off it fits The Long Way Home really well.
Strong presentation and a solid concept.
Thanks a lot for playing and the review😁, I thought making a narrative focused game would be easier, I underestimated writing
