Bendwire – a fast arcade game where you bend a copper wire into the slot before the wall hits (free, browser)

Hi everyone! I just released my game on itch:  Bendwire.

▶ Play it free in your browser: https://friendlydemondev.itch.io/bendwire

Walls rush at you from the back of a tunnel, each with a slot cut into it. You are a copper wire, and every key press bends you one step. Read the shape while the wall is still far away, then type it in one quick burst. Match the slot and the wall flies past. Too slow costs a wire, and after three it's over.

How to play: click the game, then W A S D (or the arrow keys).

- Opposite key = undo the last step

- Hold SHIFT = slow-mo while the bar on the left lasts

- Coloured slots are optional bonuses: gold = double points, mint = +1 wire, pink = takes the next wall with it

- Finish early to build your streak, up to ×5

Every bend plays a note, so a fast run turns into a little melody. Turn your sound on! There are three visual styles in the menu (Circuit, Workshop, Minimal) and an optional online top 10 with 3-letter initials. No sign-up, no ads, ~12 MB.

Best on desktop with a keyboard. Phones work with swipes but aren't the main target.

I'd love to hear your feedback, especially whether the first wall made it clear what to do and when it started to feel too hard. Thanks for playing!

Played the first few walls of this. Having the first wall wait while I worked out the controls was a smart touch. I bent the wire the wrong way, the wrong segment turned red with an arrow pointing at the key that undoes it, and I understood the undo rule without reading anything.

Clearing a wall, watching it shatter and seeing the streak tick up to x1.25 feels great.

One small thing: the NEXT preview in the top corner was easy to miss at first, because my eyes were on the centre of the tunnel. A brief highlight on it during the first wall might help new players notice it.

Nice work on this one.

Thank you very much for the feedback!

Yeah, during development I often had the same problem – I was so focused on the wire myself that I missed a lot of the information on screen, haha.

I'll probably rework the preview entirely anyway, because it doesn't work correctly yet when you take one of the special paths. A short highlight during the first wall is a great idea – I'll keep it in mind for that.

Great, Thanks

One small ask in return, only if you have five minutes: I am looking for first-time players for my own browser game, a betting game with dice, and you clearly think hard about what a new player sees. I would really value your blunt first impression: Closest Call feedback thread. No worries at all if not, and good luck with the preview rework.
