This nailed the theme in the most literal and satisfying way - landing a 5-chain with the flail felt amazing! The 3D presentation, the fission meter, and the 'Reaction Stage' progression all came together really well for a jam game. Incredibly polished. My only note is the tutorial pacing felt slightly slow before I got to really cut loose.

Developer

Thank you so much! I actually tried hard to come up with a domino-style chain reaction idea, but nothing clicked. So I tried using the physical reactions of an actual chain instead, and the hits felt better than I expected, so I went with it.

You’re right about the tutorial. I skipped it during most of my testing, so I didn’t give it enough attention. Thanks for pointing that out.

I’ve been improving the game over the past few days. The jam is over, but I’m keeping the jam version for now, and I’ll update it if updates are allowed. Hope you enjoy it then too!

You have an amasing AI workflow to get a game looking this whole,   really like that you are the chain :D

Developer

Thank you! It's more messy than amazing, but I'll take it lol. Chaining AI tools for a Chain Reaction jam, love the wordplay :D Thanks for playing!

That's a lot of content you were able to make in such a short time :) Well done! As some others said, I too didn't master the controls as intended, but still had fun using the chain as a spear of sorts with mostly left-clicking on the zombies. Given that this type of high-dopamine-fest would do well with a mobile crowd, have you given it any thought how to make this work on such devices?

Developer

Thank you! I'm really glad you had fun using it like a spear. I was so focused on swinging the chain into zombies that I hadn't noticed that part could be fun on its own, so I'm thinking about making those left-click throws feel even punchier.

The spin (hold) control doesn't feel great right now and I'm working on it, so sorry if it made things confusing. For now I'd recommend skipping the hold and swinging the flail with just left-click taps and mouse movement. I'll upload an improved version once the jam is over.

I built it with mouse controls in mind the whole time, but touch controls could actually be a good fit. I'll give it some thought. Thanks for playing!

I love this feeling game creates like from CAT company - the shoes I used (offtopic haha). SOunds and graphics and hud, all cool. how did you manage to build it all in such a short timespan?! it was hard for me to continue because i didnt get what should i do...i also could not twist properly, so maybe it is my fault or not easy to pick up, but i know mastering it would be fun!

Thank you! Funny you say CAT. The yellow and black raincoat comes from the radiation hazard sign. I was thinking more of DeWalt, but I can see CAT too! It's my first game jam, so I tried to cram in everything I could think of. Thanks to AI doing the heavy lifting on the code and concept art, it all fit in the timespan.

Such a cool idea to have a physics-based chain you can control, and of course amazing art style!

Awesome and super polished game. Great result for a 2-week jam! It was especially fun launching an exploding zombie into a crowd. Beat it on my second attempt. The boss took me out on the first run. 😂

Also ran into a small bug where the game does not scale to fullscreen, but it is not a big deal. Great job! ❤️

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the kind words! That means a lot. Thanks for the heads-up on the fullscreen bug, I'll look into it.

Stylish game, really like how it looks. Took me a while to figure out the controls though, the swinging felt a bit hard to handle at first. Anyway good job!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! The swinging does take some getting used to. Your comment got me thinking, so I added some gameplay GIFs to the page to show how it moves. Really appreciate it!

Oh damn, this is so fun, so much fun, the rotating and catching and throwing, so much fun!
Loved it!

Developer

Thanks so much for playing! That really made my day.

Really cool game! Very nice presentation and I really liked the chaotic physics-based aspect of the main weapon. Congrats!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! Really glad the unpredictable chain was fun for you. Thanks for playing!

A really polished action game! The screen layout, the 3D characters, and everything else are crafted with a lot of care, and it's all really interesting. The controls might take some getting used to, but I'd love to watch a gameplay video of someone who's truly mastered this game.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much for the kind words! Really glad you found it interesting. The controls do take some getting used to. I'd love to see a mastery run like that too!

Stylish game! Maybe it would be nice to have a jump mechanic

Developer

Thank you! Glad you liked the style. A jump sounds like a great idea, thanks for the suggestion!

really like the game.   it was great fun swinging the chain.

Developer

Thanks so much! Really glad you had fun swinging the chain!

Love the main core gameplay feature. The player basically must be always swinging the weapon around manually. Feels fresh! At times could be slightly frustrating though since the swings are kinda physics-based, mostly. Perhaps, could benefit to entire play-feel should the swings be more arcade + controlled slightly easier. (Just my opinion!)

Developer

Thanks a lot for playing! Glad the swinging core felt fresh. I agree the physics-based swings can get frustrating. I've felt it too, and I think adding some arcade-style correction to make them easier to control would improve the whole feel. Really appreciate the feedback!
