Outplay is Looking for Indie Collaborators!

Hey everyone!

We're currently developing Outplay, a 2D, two-player strategic card game built with Godot, and we're looking to connect with other indie developers and creative people who might be interested in collaborating with us!

🎮 What is Outplay?

Outplay takes familiar card-game mechanics and adds a psychological twist.

It's not just about the cards you have in your hand; it's about reading your opponent, anticipating their decisions, and finding ways to outsmart them. We want to create a game where mind games, strategy, and the decisions players make are just as important as the cards themselves.

We're currently in the prototype stage, developing the core experience and exploring how to bring this idea to life.

🤝 Who are we looking to connect with?

We're open to meeting indie developers, hobbyists, and creative people who enjoy making games and experimenting with ideas!

Some areas we'd love to explore together:

  • Godot Developers: Exchange technical knowledge, discuss gameplay systems, and share development experiences.
  • 2D Artists & Illustrators: Explore card art, character designs, icons, and visual styles.
  • Shaders & VFX ,SFX Artists: Experiment with card effects, animations, transitions,Sounds  and visual polish.

You don't have to fit neatly into one of these categories. If you're an indie developer who enjoys making interesting games, we'd love to hear from you!

🌱 What kind of collaboration are we thinking about?

We're not looking to make this a rigid or overly formal arrangement. We'd rather connect with people, learn about what they're working on, and see whether there's an opportunity for something mutually beneficial.

That could mean testing each other's games, sharing ideas and technical knowledge, working together on a small creative feature, or helping each other's projects reach more people.

We're also happy to start with a simple conversation and see where it goes.

We're currently a work in progress ourselves, so we're especially interested in connecting with people who enjoy the indie development process and want to grow alongside other creators.

💬 Interested?

If Outplay sounds interesting to you, feel free to leave a comment below or reach out to us!

When you get in touch, it'd be great to hear a little about yourself, what you're working on, and what kind of collaboration interests you.

If you have a game, portfolio, itch.io page, or other work you'd like to share, we'd love to check it out.

We're excited to meet fellow developers, exchange ideas, and see what we can create together!

Thanks for reading, and good luck with your own projects! ❤️

I would love to join but I'm a 3d artist and a designer at both 2d and 3d, speaking of designing I'm more flexible and about discussion I might fit though designing to me takes time so I can't just give direct points I'll need time to think. I'm really interested in ur topic and I wish I could join though I don't fit perfectly due to the fact that I love 3d games and mechanics, so if possible I can adopt. I'm far away so maybe distance can be a problem but if there's anything I can do then it's okay, I live in Tanzania (mbeya region). I appreciate your work

Hi there!

I'm a French composer and SFX artist who mainly works on video games. You can check my itch.io page, where you'll find the four games I've already worked on.
I'm a big Hearthstone fan, so card games are right up my alley.  I could handle audio implementation as well with FMOD, if needed.

You can also check out my game audio reel, available via my portfolio here: Thomas Perrier — Game Audio Portfolio | Notion

Have a good evening, guys

Luca here. I write dark, mood-first music. A card game about reading your opponent is mostly tension, and tension is where I live. Offer, specific: one quiet-tense menu theme plus a small sting set (card play, bluff, win/loss beat), built around a one-line pitch from you. Free to hear, nothing owed if it doesn't fit. If it does, we talk a rate or whatever trade works. Sample of my sound: https://pub-a941bfd863a24f91a60e6c4979c18a84.r2.dev/pi-sandbox-uploads/361972516790472704/2026-10-11/1791738219682-8abc8adf-016f-4036-819f-130bd9cd4822-Split_The_Sky_v7.mp3 (rock track, made with AI music tools and directed/edited by me end to end. Saying that up front so you know exactly what you'd be getting.) Happy to talk here or on Discord.

sure lets talk at discord my id is studio1159

Hey there, I'm a  2d concept artist. I can do a cartoon and a semi-realistic style as seen here in my portfolio: https://www.artstation.com/para147 my discord is here: prez5894

Hi! I came across your Outplay collaboration post. Are you currently looking for original music, and do you have a budget for it?

I mainly create original electronic instrumental music and would be interested in contributing on the music side. If that’s something you need, what direction, track count and lengths, budget, and timeline do you have in mind?

Thanks!

Studio1159, sounds good. One honest heads up: I don't have Discord on my side yet, so let's keep it here for now. To move things along, send me one line about the mood you want the menu theme to carry (a word or two is enough) and I'll cut a quiet-tense menu theme plus the sting set (card play, bluff, win/loss beat) free to hear. If it fits the game, we talk a rate. And to answer the question in the thread: I'm the one offering music, I'm not commissioning, so there is no buying budget on my side. Sample of my sound is in my post above. Luca.

Hi Studio 1159! 👋

I saw your post that you're looking for indie collaborators, and I'd love to team up.

I'm Manor from Man Studio. I make Color Under Pressure, a fast color-reaction game: the word says one color, the ink shows another, and you have to pick the right one before time runs out. It has seasonal events, badges, skins and 3 languages (English, Spanish, Hebrew).

My idea is a small crossover, no money involved:

🃏 An Outplay-themed skin + badge inside Color Under Pressure

🎨 A Color Under Pressure card or cosmetic inside Outplay

📣 We shout each other out in our devlogs and socials

We could also start by testing each other's games and giving feedback.

Play it here: https://manstudio.itch.io/color-under-pressure

Would you be interested? 🙂

Hi! I´m a UX/UI designer with 10 years of experience (on regular software) looking to transition to the game development area.

I curently have one project from a simple game I made on Unity, you can check it out here - https://www.behance.net/gallery/256930903/Whispers-of-Kra-Dark-Fantasy-Game-UIUX

Hi Studio 1159! I develop Endless Tower, a browser tower-defense demo in development with provisional visuals. A design problem I'm working on is making strategic choices readable: merging matching guardians increases their power but removes a floor, while their special powers are activated manually. Would a public discussion here about communicating costs and available actions fit the collaboration you described? I'm interested in first-session clarity rather than adding a crossover feature. I haven't played Outplay, so I can't give first-hand feedback on it yet; I'm also not offering Godot implementation work. Happy to start with a focused conversation here if that would be useful.
