The Biggest Challenge
Bringing a 3D jetpack hero, pixel-art enemies and animated bosses into the same readable Halloween battle was the main challenge. AI-assisted code and art were refined through collision checks, animation timing, muzzle alignment, hit feedback, and running-game captures. PUMPKIN powers the market’s jack-o’-lantern atmosphere and towering pumpkin boss; RUTABAGA becomes an explosive carved-lantern chain mechanic and a candy-hungry root-vegetable boss.
AI Tools Used
Codex / ChatGPT for code, integration, debugging, and iteration; OpenAI image generation for pixel art and title artwork; Hunyuan for the 3D protagonist source model. Godot is the game engine, Blender was used for model preparation and animation, and Kenney CC0 particles are credited in the download.
Areas Where AI Was Used
Code and gameplay integration; pixel-art assets and title artwork; the 3D protagonist source model; UI and presentation text. The witch companion uses scripted game AI, not a live LLM. No AI API key or online service is required to play.

Unfortunately, my browser froze on the loading screen. I waited for a while, but it never came back.
Looking at the screenshots, it looked like a lot of fun, and I really wanted to try it out...
It's a shame. 😔
let me fix
I gave it a try! Yeah, it really is pretty heavy—honestly, performance felt pretty tough on my end, which is a bit of a shame because the core idea is cool.
The 3D artwork looks nice, but since it's a roguelike and the camera seems fixed/unmovable, I wasn't quite sure what the 3D perspective was adding to the gameplay. To put it bluntly, would a 2D approach have worked just as well? Or were you aiming to experiment with AI-generated 3D assets? That's just something I was curious about.
For instance, the market and town backgrounds look great, but how do they tie into the actual gameplay? If they don't serve a specific purpose, it might be worth using lower-poly/simpler environment models to free up memory and system resources for enemy AI and character performance.
Also, having a huge swarm of enemies rush in all at once is exciting, but it felt a bit brutal right at the start. It might feel better if you ease players into it with a gentler learning curve.
The core gameplay loop is definitely fun, though! Keep up the great work!
Thank you for your feedback! I've also been thinking about how to create a better 3D experience for players.
My goal is to make this a fun and engaging 3D shooter. However, the environment is quite demanding in terms of performance, and it seems to have caused some serious issues for players. I'm currently working on optimizations to make the experience smoother and more enjoyable!
I wanted to play this longer, but it was really computer heavy. My Mac Mini M2 with 16GB was struggling.
thanks for playing, let me fix it
I've improved the game's performance by reducing visual effects and lighting effects, making the gameplay smoother.
Thanks for your feedback! Now, enjoy a smoother and more satisfying gaming experience!
Such a cute little guy, I just want to steal and put him in my pocket. and the location are so lovely! It did run a bit heavy with all the 3D goodness - so some performance options would be lovely. But honestly, very charming work, congrats on finishing!
This is my first time making a complete game from start to finish. I spent way too much time on the art, which is why most of the enemies ended up being 2D, and I didn’t get around to doing much optimization either.
Thanks for liking this little guy! I’d be happy to share my art assets later.
The game runs a bit heavily, but that’s because of the rich 3D design.
It’s great having a witch fight alongside the protagonist.
I really struggled with the decision of whether to upgrade the witch or the protagonist.
It’s satisfying to have the rutabagas explode and take out the enemies.
I enjoyed it.
thanks
