html5 builds pushed with butler stuck in "processing" for hours

Hi all,

Since today (Oct 13), builds I push with butler to my game's html5 channel take hours to go live, and while one is processing, every new push is refused. I emailed support but haven't heard back yet, so I'm asking here in case someone has seen this or knows a fix.

Game: https://min-max-felix.itch.io/hordebreaker (channel html5; linux and windows are pushed the same way)

What happened:

  • 11:12 UTC: pushed build #2119520 (0.4.0+4086e0c). Butler said "Build is now processing", as usual.
  • Pushes after that failed with: itch.io API error (400): /wharf/builds: channel html5's latest build is still processing, try again later. I retried every 30 s for 15 minutes with the same result.
  • #2119520 only finished somewhere between 12:00 and 15:40 UTC.
  • 15:30 UTC: pushed #2120364 (0.4.1+6088bc4). At 15:40 butler status still showed it as processing.

Earlier builds on the same channel (about 10 MB zipped, Godot 4 web export) went live within a minute or two, and the change in these builds was tiny (a ~200 KB patch).

Questions:

  1. Is html5 processing delayed on itch's side right now?
  2. Is there a way to cancel a build that's stuck in processing, so the next push isn't blocked?
  3. Is there a limit on how often a channel can be pushed that I might be hitting? I pushed about four times today, at least an hour apart.

Thanks!

Yes, processing is delayed on our side today. A network slowdown between our build servers and storage provider has created a backlog affecting butler pushes, including small HTML5 patches. Builds are still processing, but with delays of several hours as of this post.

The "latest build is still processing" error is expected while the previous build on that channel is queued. At this time there's no way to cancel a pending build, but it could be something worthwhile to add in the future.

Edit: The network issue seems to be resolved, so the backlog is catching up now, some larger builds might take some time but smaller games queue is mostly processed.

We are all in the same situation, regardless of the technology. Myself I have an update to my Godot project that has also been hanging for around 4 hours now.
