The Biggest Challenge
Fusing the optional RUTABAGA theme into the core mechanic instead of treating it as decoration: building the merge chain so you literally grow a rutabaga sprout all the way into a jack-o'-lantern, and adding the golden-rutabaga wildcard merge — it jumps any veg two tiers — as the pivot mechanic that keeps runs from stalling.
AI Tools Used
Generative AI coding assistant — the game's code was AI-assisted (written and iterated with an AI coding assistant), used as the development tool for this entry. Built with Godot 4.7.2; all art drawn by code (Python/Pillow generators) and all audio synthesized in code (NumPy) — no downloaded or stock assets.
Areas Where AI Was Used
Code: generative AI was used for the game's code (AI-assisted development). Art and audio were produced in code, not by image/audio generators: art drawn with Python/Pillow generators, audio synthesized with NumPy. Both jam themes are the core merge chain — PUMPKIN and RUTABAGA: Rutabaga Sprout → Rutabaga → Turnip → Small Pumpkin → Pumpkin → Jack-o'-Lantern.

Golden Rutabaga!! 😮
It's fun. I like merge games and play them often, but I thought this was a really interesting idea.
I also liked how the game automatically ends after a certain amount of time—it's not too long, which gives it a nice, clean feel.
I also love that the BGM and sound effects are generated by code. I really like the calm, unobtrusive atmosphere.
However, the game screen was a bit too small. I had to zoom in quite a bit to play.
Also, the gaps between the vegetables made it a little hard to tell which ones to merge, so I think it would be better if they were packed a little closer together.
Anyway, I had a great time. 🙂
I really enjoined to play with the music, I like the music is relaxing and so atmospheric, maybe at some point starts being boring, but i like the music, the screen is so small, i know maybe this game was developed to play on mobile but a full screen button can improve the experience too much, consider increase the size of all the things (rutabagas and pumpkins) to increase the difficult, maybe more SFX and feedback can improve too so much the experience, but just like this is good. (Sorry if my English isn't good, I speak spanish)
Fun game.
I had to zoom in quite a bit in my browser, consider adding the full screen option.
The smallest two rutabaga are hard to tell apart so I kept dropping them in the wrong spot.
The glowing pumpkins aren't supposed to disappear, right? Since the play screen felt a bit small, I thought making it larger would be a nice improvement.
I really liked the heavy "thud" sound effects when the rutabaga falls, though!
Great job on the game!
Boing boing boing 🎃 The veggie bouncing is nice! and the fact that it’s all made purely with code - pretty cool. The game is quite simple right now, so I'd love to see some extra ideas to make it feel more yours. Congrats on finishing the jam!
It’s a *Suika Game*-style game with a nice, relaxed atmosphere.
It’s exciting when rare vegetables pop up.
There were some gaps between the vegetables, so I found myself wishing they were packed a bit tighter so they’d collide.
The controls and physics felt great.
