Those are probably the enemies hidden in the deep water that only appear if you go near them on the south side

yeah I had that happen as well, look and your minimap for red squares,also while the lootable trees in the first few chapters show up on the mini map none of the things you can loot in later chapters show up so don't rely on it too much.
