I like a lot of things from this VN:
- The prose is very good
- Love what you did with the ui
- The artstyle is beautiful and consistent through all the elements of the game
- The music and the sound effect create the right atmosphere for this story
Big props to the whole team!

This was amazing! I think my favorite parts were the limited color palette + fantastic use of yellow highlights, the fairytale-esque storytelling of trades with different bayou creatures, and the inventory system that, for me, tied the game together.
I'm not even sure what to comment on first...
The visuals? Music? Atmosphere? Story?
even just after a few moments of playing, the dialogue does a good job of pulling you in, the music fits so well, and changes as you go, mixing with the advancing plot. Just really really well done, absolutely.
The art, sound and atmosphere were really good,
The story and dialogue were also very fitting and nice.
The only thing I would like is to use RMB to leave the inventory screen.
This is an incredible job, I have no words... Your style, atmosphere and presentation are amazing .
What a magnificently macabre and desolate experience. Incredible art direction. Beautifully haunting soundtrack. Well done to the composer for both the quantity and excellent quality of pieces - 13 pieces in a month is no joke.
I really enjoyed the consequences and outcomes of the choices we had to make. Like, I just really wanted to protect tree dude, I didn't know it would bring upon the start of my literal transformation in to a monster lol. A really dark, sinister and heavy price for trying to commit a good deed. Absolutely loved that duality!
Really impressed you've done this in Ren'Py, too. Admittedly, I don't have much experience with Ren'Py or VN's in general, but based on what I've seen with my own team and other entries, it seems like you've really pushed it and bent it to your will.
I'll be back to discover more endings once I'm done playing other entries and the jam ends, for sure. Congratulations to everyone on your team for an amazing job - you've all done incredible work and should be very proud of what you've achieved! All the best :)
So thankful for all the kind words and the detailed response! Zeo (sound designer/composer) was so incredibly great to work with and really put so much effort into every piece. The soundtrack itself is also available to listen to here as well!
It's also very nice to hear that the writing, art, and overall experience for you were all very enjoyable. Hope you have fun with all the other entries, there's so many good ones in this jam!
Do let us know when you come back for more endings. We always appreciate every comment and bit of feedback!
I could not put it down! The storyline was amazing and I loved how the ending went. Amazing use of pixel art and atmospheric storytelling! And then suddenly I’ve finished reading it XD
From the moment I pulled up the main menu, I could tell I was in for something very special! Everything about this was exquisitely crafted: the incredible art and design, the moody music, the evocative prose, and the phenomenal story. The world is so well thought-out and developed--both regionally specific and grounded, while still following the patterns of widespread fairytales. The result is something both unique and yet cozily familiar in feel, and threading that needle is nothing short of remarkable! Thank you all for sharing an incredible game and a lovely story; I enjoyed it very much!
This was so polished and well executed. The little details like the different icons for all the people you talk to made it an amazing experience. I loved the Bayou lore. I like tree guy. He's pretty cool. Only note. I would like to pet the cat.
This was excellent! The prose was very atmospheric and it truly feels like a southern gothic folktale. There's so much love and attention to detail in little things like the different text box art for each character. Bittersweet endings where the protagonist can't get everything they want / have to be careful of what they wish for are my favorite kinds of tales in horror.
I'm glad to see you recently added the ability to hide the text boxes because that was going to be one of my first suggestions, haha. Great work everyone! Very well executed, one of my favs of the jam so far.
It really was a full team effort and so much of it wouldn't of been possible without the back and forth of ideas and banter we had between all of us. And I'm happy to hear that the writing made you feel that way and that all those little details in the art didn't go unnoticed!
Annnnd also super glad that you appreciated the ability to hide the text boxes! That was definitely a priority for the update. Thanks again for all the kind words and stopping by to leave a comment.
The pixel art backgrounds were gorgeous, oftentimes I wished I could hide the textbox to admire them more. The little details of the textbox changing for each character were really nice, as were all the different masks that the villagers wore and the gradual reveal of the lore and monsters. The choices felt pretty intuitive when it came to collecting the items and the moral choices associated with them, so I easily reached the endings I wanted ^^
Only thing was the lack of a skip button when replaying the story for more endings T.T
All in all, interesting lore and very cohesive artstyle, this entry felt very complete!
Thanks so much for the kind feedback and for playing the game!! :D Very happy you enjoyed it!!! we are looking to do an update fairly soon where we add the option to hide the text box as well as a few other things and some small fixes! I'll have a look at a skip button as well and see if we can do that, or something to help with replaying!
Thanks for coming by to play!
We just launched the update that includes the ability to hide the text box (by pressing the h key) AND to the ability to skip (we added a button but you can also still press CTRL). The update also keeps track of the endings you unlock going forward so if you want to come back and play through it to see the other endings hopefully it'd be a more user friendly experience!
Oh oh and when you're collecting those items there's also a very pretty inventory screen with new descriptions for everything as well!

What a treat it was to play this game. It felt like a dark fairytale. The visual style is very well polished and comes together neatly. The prose supports the atmosphere. Some phrases I really liked to read, like:
"Trees rise around you like the bars of a great cage, their twisted trunks thick with with moss and lichen."
This game lets you experience the story, slowly introducing the world and giving the player/reader enough time to put what is happening together before revealing it. Loved exploring it and meeting all its mysterious characters!
I realllly loved the story! Especially the structure, I loved how everything is set up so that it feels almost like a folk-lore style storytelling -- collect items, use those items to bargain with monsters, and in the end its those items that help you reach a goal. As an aside, not sure if this is intended but I also really enjoyed how in the bad route, where you kill the monsters to take its features, it's presented as the protagonist sewing it onto themselves... which is stereotypically a very feminine/housewife associated skill, but here it's what makes you deranged and monstrous. With a really cool animation too!
I replayed a few times to get the endings, I love the different variations in what happens at the very end. And!!! The pixelart is very gorgeous and wonderful!!!!
Thank for you making this game!
I absolutely adore American folk horror, and the aesthetics of this game had me eating so good, like damn!! The art, the pacing, the story, the music-all 10/10s in my book. My first run in I got ending 2 (spoilers: I didn't have the heart to kill pere malfait, so i killed the rougaru instead lool), so I've been replaying it to see the alternatives. Also, I really appreciate the attention to detail in how travel order can impact some of the choices. Ty for making this awesome game!!
Incredible atmosphere for a game with such a restricted colour pallet, the characters, design and art were wonderful, and the story was incredible. I got one of the endings and I'd love to find them all. A must play!
i don't think i have words to describe how much i loved this game, the atmosphere, the characters, everything! really well done literally everything about the game is amazing.
Wow!!!! What an incredibly beautiful game, in both story and artwork. The sprites and color palettes have a delicate, daguerreotype feel to them that make the horror elements feel that much more ethereal and haunting, and the music direction pairs with them beautifully - while the UI and textbox is gorgeous, especially in moments where they interact with character sprites, I almost (though not quite) wish they were smaller so we could see more of that all (I appreciate the backgrounds download for that reason!). The progressing through branches (and particularly how they merge) is very cleverly written, and lends the story a very deliberate quality that makes it land like a fable, where everything is destined to play out. Not to mention the wonderfully poetic writing, and the clear thorough research/knowledge of cajun folklore - I was delighted to see père malfait make an appearance.
Wonderful job - huge congrats to the whole team!!
Cool to have some body horror in a game with this art stye, it leaves some of it to the imagination at the end there. Good bunch of lore and really pretty art!
Really interesting game! The atmosphere was very immersive and I really appreciated the art style. Also, you could really feel that the ending you get is the result of the main character's states of mind which, in turn, get influenced by your choices.
This is absolutely stunning! I felt the weight of every choice, and it felt so heavy (in a good way)!
