Hey there! Great spooky fun experience 👻 The graphics, the design, the sounds and the interactions are all very nice. One small suggestion: a visual guide or controls screen would help new players get started. Great work, wish you all the best!
If you get a chance, I’d love for you to try mine too: Uninvited Chickos, a Halloween rhythm runner with two chickens escaping a goblin feast 🐔
Thank you for your review! I will consider your feedback and add a tutorial for new players after the Jam ends. I will try your game too.
Possibly it's my testing laptop. On this machine, the game looks very dark, and the starting room has a dreamlike, almost dithered, quality which makes it difficult to recognize anything. Or maybe it is an artistic choice.
Anyway, the game starts strong with a classic opener as a reason the player has to investigate. The letter was a mysterious first hint.
But then the game seems to demand that I collect 56(!) pieces of trash. The door is locked and the inside of the side cabinet is black to me. I open the cupboard. Seems empty. But is it? I enter and get stuck.
While I can't decide what effects are coming from the game and which from my hardware, I quit. Sorry. Next time I'm testing with more powerful hardware.
I think your laptop is not the reason for your issues. This game is intentionally pretty dark, but there are light switches in every room and also a flashlight in the first room for the player. To open the door you have to find the key in the first room which is hidden in one of the drawers. After the Game Jam I probably add some brightness settings and turn the amount of trash down! Still thank you for testing my game and I hope that you maybe give it another try!
Is it possible to upload your game as a web build? If so comment back when you do and I'll play it!
I look into it today and then come back to you!
Sadly my game is too big, so a web build will not be possible for my game
Hi! I recorded my whole run for a let's play, but my PC failed me: the video froze and only the sound survived 😭 So here is my review in text.
Before I started, I said: "Psychological horror? I can handle that." I was wrong. This is real horror.
The oppressive music gave me goosebumps all over my skin, and the game looks really good. The interact prompt is great, I loved inspecting the key, and crouching, hiding and the flashlight make it feel like a real game.
And then came the jumpscare. I closed the game at once and understood two things: I can't play any more, and I'm not sleeping tonight. Maybe I should check my pants too 😅
Small things that would help: after a restart the key I found was gone and things moved to new places, so I had to close and reopen the game. Saving didn't work for me. A way to skip texts I already read would be great. In the hand it's hard to see that the trash is cans. The camera feels a bit high, but maybe that's just me. Oh, and the window title says (DEBUG) :)
Really strong work for a jam. Now I'm going to watch some cartoons, with the lights on.
Thank you for your review! I happy that I got the effect I wanted on the player 😁 I will update this game soon to fix some of the bugs! Stay tuned because I intend to do a full release for this game in the future!
