Theme Interpretation
The main theme is morse code which is a type of signal. And the vikings guarding the gates signal you what you have to translate in order to solve them.

Any variation of Wordle is fully original IMO. Unlike this 43rd comment.
Didn't think of it as a wordle variation before, but I guess you're right :D
Very cool, I think it would be nice if the morse code was ordered by code instead of alphabet, people mentioned morse tree too but I think in morse symbol order is already very nice to follow, like the image I put there.

Overall I really enjoyed the game, congrats!!!
Yeah I agree that would have been better, thank you :)
simple but entertaining! has a cool vibe overall!
Thank you :)
I think you did a great job incorporating the theme into the game in a simple yet effective way. It's a great idea!
The water effects are amazing too!
Thank you so much!
Nice and simple typing game :)
(As metioned before in comments) morse tree would be nice, alphabet sort was a bit too confusing to me.
Looks nice, sounds great. Good job.
Minor bugs with pause menu:
Thanks for the feedback!
And also for reporting the issue, I now notice that it happens only in the web build, and windows build works as intended... Interesting
I have a lot of questions for my own eyes... And perception level... AND ANGER MANAGEMENT!!!
Great music and art though!
I'm glad I could make you angry and still enjoy it :D
I really like the pixel art, nice work!
Thanks!
It is a cool interpretation of the theme!
It could be nice to be able to toggle between morse-tree and alphabet view.
In the first level I just typed decoded the first letter and assumed the rest 😅 (context was given)
in the second level that didn't quite work out so well and I died :D
Thank you for the feedback!
I don't know if toggling is the right answer here... I wanted to make 2 types of gates at first - the 2nd type was supposed to be gates written in english and you have to make short and long presses (morse) to solve them.
But ultimatly I ran out of time to add this feature :D
Edit: oh a morse-tree! Yes that's a great idea I totally should have done that
Fun take on the theme! Super easy to get into, and yet challenging enough to make it fun. Great work!
Glad you liked the difficulty, I changed it around a lot before it was something playable :D
Really cool game! A bit stressful, but fun. A beat the first level with half a heart remaining, haha.
Very polished experience.
Thank you I appreciate it :) Congrats on beating the first level
Love the art style! played very well, I just cant rember what im typing and decode at the same time :)
Thank you :)
I like how at some point I actually started to memorize the code :)
The art style is pretty cool too! I wonder where did you get this nordic font? Have you created it yourself? It's such subtle, but nice thing to add!
Glad you liked it :)
No I didn't create it, just forgot to put it in the credits, it's a free font called Norse: https://www.1001fonts.com/norse-font.html
I've never been so focused on decoding morse code in my LIFE. Very fun, I like this old-timey interpretation of a signal. :]
Thank you :)
Tricked into learning. The Norse plundered my braincells
They do do that
I have no idea what I was typing, but I was very hooked to do so
I'm glad you got hooked :)
You had me at the title!
Very fun concept, and cool style overall. Managed to beat the first level and go on for some time in the next, does it go on forever?
Really had me locked in for a while though! Nice job!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!
No, the second level ends (or should end :D) after 20 gates :)
But endless mode was an idea (that I knew I wouldn't implement), I think I would have to hook up to some random word API or sth
Okay I just realized I sliced the array wrong in the second level and it ends after 33 gates instead of the intended 20 :D Yeah that is definitely too long
this was really hard, but the concept itself is fun and interesting, one thing I really missed was an actual goal to work towards, something to keep me locked in.
Thank you for the feedback :)
I really struggled with balaning the difficulty as I playtested today for the first time :D
About the goal, I wanted to have at least a score system that rewards you for solving faster and has a multiplier that resets on wrong answers...But again the list of possible features was long hehe
This made me feel like i actually knew morse at some point(then i died cause turns out i didnt know morse)
It was fun, a bit repetitive but still enjoyable for a few minutes!! I think having a bigger UI for the dictionary or other helpful ways to differentiate - from . could have made this easier, meaning you could go ever faster with the boat and open more walls which would have been satisfying!
Good job still, and congrats on your first wild jam!! You did great!!
Thank you so much :) Yeah I was thinking of ways to make the dictionary more readable, but in the end it was out of scope xD.
Now lemme go check out your game...
I was glad you had a dictionnary in the first place haha, classic game jam move would have been to say “learn morse code than come back” hahaha
Haha that would be unplayable basically
