Really good art and music.
I was actually thinking of also creating a vn about this fairytale sometime, so it's nice seeing this.
I think 'rosie' was a bit too dark compared to the others (not sure if that was intended).

Now I did enjoy this, and I think what I've seen was good, despite the rather quick start from outsider to kings 'champion' for not a very good reason. However, and this is purely subjective opinion, I disagree with other people saying that the initial scene makes me interested in the story. I acknowledge that the initial scene was good, but I personally don't like time skips, it ruins immersion, it dissociates me with the characters, oftentimes it also spoils the story (spoiler). After seeing the opening scene I was interested in what happens next, not what happened before, as I had no investment in the characters, only the situation described before me.

Still you did a great job.

Rosamonde's character design and pallette are intentional. Not all of the characters in this VN are Caucasian.

I was talking about her hair and clothes which makes it look like she is constantly standing in shadow.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for clarifying; her darker, shadowed color choices compared to others is intentional design but the feedback is appreciated

Definitely intrigued by this! The music was so enchanting and each character looked incredibly detailed.  The demo left me curious and eager to play more so I look forward to future updates!

I'm familiar with the original fairy tale, so it'll be interesting to see what sort of twist is put on it! I do have some theories of course. Though given the story's opening I am curious on whether this is going to be a linear story, or one with branching narratives and multiple outcomes?

I loved the artwork! The sprites are so detailed! Specifically I like the variety of facial structures, folds and textures of clothing, and curling of the hair. I feel each design gives me a good idea of the character at a glance. The backgrounds fit the fairy tale theme well and compliment the sprites and storytelling.

The music does a good job of establishing the tone and setting of the piece without being too distracting, exactly what I like to see.

In terms of storytelling, I think the introduction was the most polished and well executed. With the narrator facing the gallows and the cold princesses silently observing the spectacle. It promises us a tale of suspense, betrayal, drama, and intrigue, delivering a powerful message to the player in showing how high the stakes are. It immediately makes me curious to know how it all plays out. Compared to the rest, it left the biggest impression and got my theory brain buzzing and I love it.

In the way of constructive criticism, I feel the writing (after the gallows) is a bit over narrated for a visual novel. There were a few times when we were presented with nothing more than a background and several paragraphs worth of exposition. When reading a visual novel, I expect to see less explanatory narration and more character interactions. Considering this is just a demo made for a jam with a time limit, it's understandable that the balance might be off, but I'm definitely hoping to see more opportunities of interacting and getting to know the characters as individuals and witness their relationship dynamics going forward.

This might be a more subjective take, but the fact that the gardener is a stranger, makes the progression of the story feel a bit forced. I  wish they had a more personal reason for being present in the story rather than simply it is their "destiny". Say for example, they've been loyally serving The King for years or were a childhood friend of one of the princesses, then their role of being someone who The King can confide in or the Princesses like to flirt and tease one another about being interested in them would feel more natural conversations to have. On the other hand, the concept of strangers being drawn together based on fate or noble deeds rather than by choice is a common concept in fairy tales, so at the very least, it kind of fits the theme.

Now that's not to say that I didn't enjoy the writing, I think it is quite detailed and I always do enjoy a good retelling of a classic fairy tale. I am simply sharing my first impressions based on the current version. I am definitely looking forward to seeing how this project flourishes over time as it off to a nice start with a lot of potential behind a fun and intriguing concept. Keep up the good work! ^^

I really enjoyed the game! The artwork and music is great. The beginning is a banger. It creates so much suspense from the get go, and it made me invested in the story immediately. The contrast of the peaceful garden tending right after is a good transition. However, I feel like adding some references linking back to the initial scene can help a lot with pacing and make this relatively slow section more interesting. For example, the apprentice presumably does not know the hanging and Rosemonde's character, this gap between character and player can create some interesting dramatic irony. Overall, I think the story has great potential, and I look forward for future updates!

Beautiful game, especially the environments were lovely. I'm intrigued by the start of the mystery and would like to see how the love interests (and their secrets) eventually come in!

The atmosphere really got to me, and starting the story with the protagonist about to die was such a strong choice. It immediately created so much tension and made me want to know what happens next!

The art is absolutely gorgeous and the music left me speechless. It’s so beautifully composed!

Even though this is only a glimpse of the full story, i can’t wait to see where it goes. You can feel how much passion and creative effort went into this project.

The story intrigues me, and I can’t wait to see what comes next. I could say many wonderful things about the art, but the music simply leaves me speechless, absolutely brilliant. As an opera lover, I certainly wouldn’t mind listening to it in a hall filled with marquises and marchionesses.

Chapeau bas!

Thank you so much!

Really, really good work guys. The art reminds me a lot of The House in Fata Morgana. The music is well-developed and the story is interesting. I would love to see more, I mean it. Starting the game with the main character about to die is an excellent choice to build up drama. I love period dramas, maybe that's why this game, for now, is the best I have read in terms of story. Really well done, guys!

Thank you so much! Getting compared to The House in Fata Morgana is incredible praise!
