Hi everyone! đź‘‹

I’m developing 2D RPG game and I’m looking for a pixel artist to create game-ready tilesets and maps for the game.

Style:

A cozy fantasy village in detailed top-down 3/4 pixel art, with lush greenery, stone cliffs, warm glowing lanterns and lit windows, plus a touch of magic such as glowing portals and rifts. The attached image shows the mood and level of detail I’m going for.

Central plaza with a large tree, market stalls and lamps

Keepers’ Guild hall, chapel, blacksmith, shop and 5–7 cottages

Ponds with docks, paths, fences, flowers and props

A glowing portal or rift at the edge of town

Entrance gate and 2–3 exits to other areas

About 60Ă—40 tiles

Deliverables:

A tileset (32Ă—32) of reusable tiles: grass, paths, water edges, cliffs, fences and so on

Buildings and props as separate sprites on transparent backgrounds

Day and night versions, or separate light sprites

Nice to have: animated water, lamp flicker, portal swirl, chimney smoke

Future work:

If we work well together, there will be more: building interiors (Guild hall, shop, blacksmith, cottages), plus forest, dungeon and rift zones.

Payment:

Paid project, [budget / per-tile or per-map rate, or “open to quotes”], paid [per milestone / 50% upfront]. I’m happy to start with a small paid test, such as one cottage and a few ground tiles.

Requirements:

A portfolio that includes tile-based maps or tilesets, not only illustrations

All art original, with full commercial rights transferred

Hi! I'm Bruno, a pixel artist, animator, and art director with over a decade in games, based out in Mexico.

Your village sounds genuinely lovely—the mix of stone cliffs, lush greenery, warm lanterns, lit windows, and that touch of magic with the glowing portal. Adding day and night versions alongside those small ambient details like flowing water, flickering lamps, and a swirling portal is exactly what will make the place feel truly alive, and I'd love to help build it out for you.

I'd be more than happy to tackle a paid test with one cottage and a few ground tiles at 32x32, following the 3/4 style of your reference. Full commercial rights transfer is completely fine with me, and everything I create is 100% original.

As for pricing and workflow, I usually like to quote per piece after we wrap up the test, once I've had a clear look at how much detail your reference calls for. Every piece includes two rounds of revisions to make sure it hits the mark. I can send over a quick estimate for the test as soon as I've gone through your reference files in detail, and we can scope out the rest of the village right after.

Still looking?

Hello there! I saw your post looking for a pixel artist for your cozy 2D RPG fantasy village. I can design detailed top down 3/4 tilesets, custom buildings and props matching your reference mood. I am ready to handle reusable tiles, transparent sprites and separate light or day/night elements. Could you share your estimated timeline for completing the initial test project?

Hey! I saw your post about the fantasy RPG village.

I recently released a 32Ă—32 pixel art pack with 177 assets, including terrain, water, bridges, village props, and magical ruins.

It might cover some of what you're looking for and save you time on the environment.

Would this style fit your project?

Hi ursnagh — Hx Works here. I saw your proposed paid cottage-and-ground-tile test. Here are two self-initiated studies:

32Ă—32 modular map-format study, with tiles and native Tiled files:

https://github.com/hxsworrk-lab/character-walk-study/tree/main/native-tiled-fiel...

Three-quarter environment-prop style concept:

https://github.com/hxsworrk-lab/character-walk-study/tree/main/three-quarter-wel...

The prop uses an AI-assisted raster workflow; it is a concept, not a finished 32Ă—32 tileset. My reference rate is US$25/hour. Your brief requests full commercial rights: would this workflow be acceptable, or do you need entirely hand-authored pixels? If it fits, I would confirm the reference, fixed test fee, timing and revision allowance before starting.
