i know the method mentioned in /t/160014/can-i-use-exclusion-filters exist and i tried that; if the method worked a link like /games/newest/free/platform-web/tag-incremental?exclude=tg.ai-assisted should exclude all ai assisted games from my search, which it doesnt do. what is it that im doing wrong or there is just no way of doing that yet?

Use the "No AI" tag. An exclusion filter here isn't going to work how you expect because it won't filter pages that haven't completed any kind of AI disclosure. The "No AI" tag filters to pages where the developer has explicitly tagged their page as not having used generative AI.

You can use the No AI tag.

"ai-assisted" is not a tag. Itch made a very bad and clumsy design choice how they implemented ai filters. They started with virtual tags that are not tags but are filterable as tags. Which means that those virtual tags and actual tags by the same name existed. Like "ai-generated".

And the info about ai was not even shown anywhere on the game page.

A lot later they finally changed the info box on game pages to show the ai disclosure, if there were one. Either positive or negative.

But it linked not to the virtual tag, but to the actual internal filters. Which is "ai assisted". And they do not have an internal filter for no ai. It is still the virtual tag no-ai.

/games/tag-ai-generated shows all of /games/ai-assisted , plus all the games that have manually tagged it with the literal tag ai-generated.

Only if you open that ai assisted, you will see on the left side new ai filters. Including the no-ai tag. The no-ai tag also appears in the tag suggestion box, as it is a tag. Which means that there will also be games that manually selected the literal tag no-ai, instead of getting it automatically as a virtual tag by ai disclosure. Any tags you see in the tag list in the info box on a game page are manual tags, not ai disclosure.

The no-ai virtual tag only shows those games that filled out the ai disclosure, instead of all games minus the ai games. And formal ai disclusure is not even mandatory for games. Only for assets. In my opinion ai dislosure was required even before the formal ai disclosure, according to the faqs.

Is this complicated? Yes!
