Thanks yukajii. Which card did you get? If it said THE SHOP WENT UP, that is the fire winning on night four or five and not the run being cut short; if it said YOU GAVE THEM EVERYTHING, the till went instead. I am asking because night four is earlier than I expected a burn to land, and that number is worth knowing.
Ah, then you got the ending I care about: them out the door, the shop still standing with the corners burned. Night eleven cannot kill you, so night ten is the last one that can. Your run ended right where the pressure was. Thanks for coming back to say which. One thing I want for the next one: at the end, did handing it over feel like a choice, or like the only button left?
That's the most useful thing anyone has said about this game, and it's the thing I was afraid of. night ten is built so you feel the fire before you can see it, so if you spent your nerve early there's nothing left to spend by then and every option looks the same amount of hopeless. a choice made from the bottom of a hole is still a choice, but it isn't a decision, and I don't want to call that a win for the design. so: if there'd been one option at that point that only opened if you'd kept a nerve in reserve, would that have felt like your call, or just a nicer button? asking because that's the thing I'm building next.
