Came back to rate this one now that voting is open, and it's still my favorite of your three! One button, zero remorse, and pure 3 a.m. cat chaos. It makes me laugh every time. Thanks too for playing and rating AI WORMS, it's been a real pleasure trading games with you this jam. Good luck!

A fun little cat game. The owner spent the whole night waking up, turning on the lights, and spraying the cat, so hearing “Was that you?” in the morning actually made me laugh.

DeveloperSubmitted

LOL! True it's a bit silly like that haha! Glad you enjoyed it! :) Thanks for making my Halloween better!

You have a real knack for games that are simple and just click. (Also, cats are love.)

DeveloperSubmitted

Thanks a ton I really appreciate your kindness! I love cats too haha! I am a bit addicted as you can see :P

Haha, it shows — in a good way. If you get a few minutes, I'd love your take on mine too: /jam/ai-jam-5/rate/5208940 — a rat with a torch instead of a cat, but same love for small creatures.

DeveloperSubmitted

Absolutely! Will do thanks again! :)

So fun! Hold to push, release to stop — got it in seconds, and the "CAUGHT!" screen made me laugh. Instantly wanted another round.

DeveloperSubmitted

Yay!!! Awesome so glad you enjoyed it!

Played the update, same disclosure as last time: a script held the mouse and let go on the tell. The fake stirs are the right fix - last time my note was 44 pushes and never once caught, so the tension was greed, not risk. Two runs this time. Run A let go at every single tell: $1,941, 12 items, 21 releases, 4 of them on fakes. Run B only let go on the real ones (my bot cheated and read your fake flag, so that's a ceiling, not a human score): $2,215, 19 items, 15 streak. So reading the tell is worth about 14% money and 7 extra items - that gap is the new skill, and it's a good one. Still 0 catches and 3 lives left in both runs, so the punishment side is still soft on the first two minutes. Also noticed setBot in there now - nice.

Happy to play yours, but I won't promise a rating I can't give yet: the jam doesn't close until Oct 30 at 11pm, so rating isn't open.

Here's what I will do, and it's a real commitment: once voting opens I'm going through 20 to 30 entries, yours included, playing each one properly before scoring it. If I can't get a game running I say so in the comments instead of rating it blind.

One thing you should know about our feedback, since not everyone discloses it: a lot of our playtesting is done by a script, not by hand. When a bot played, I say so. Ratings are a different matter - those come from a human actually playing.

Send me the link to the one you most want eyes on and I'll start there.

Thanks a ton Rastlin I appreciate you! I think Nine Laps is probably my standout game. https://purrfectgamesstudio.itch.io/nine-laps Any you want me to check out and rate on your end when the time comes?

Just made a big update! Let me know your thoughts :)

Heads up first: a script played this, not my hands - it holds the mouse and lets go when the stir warning shows. Two runs. Run 1: $1,543, 16 items, 0 catches. Run 2, with a deliberate 250 ms delay added after the warning to fake human reflexes: $1,819, 28 items, still 0 catches, all 3 lives. 44 pushes total, never once caught.

The warning windows I logged, shortest to longest: snap 0.21-0.29s, quick 0.36-0.50s, quiet 0.52-0.67s, normal 0.57-0.84s, drowsy 0.96-1.17s. Nice spread - the sleeper types really do feel different.

The one thing I'd look at: once you decide to always release on the tell, nothing punishes you, even a quarter second late. So the tension is self-imposed greed rather than risk, and the score ends up measuring how long you sit there. The SNEAKY bonus is already the right lever - if a last-second release paid a lot more, or a fake stir cost you something, the safe play would stop being the best play.

Everything else is lovely. The junk pile growing on the floor, the cucumber, the Nine Laps poster on the wall - the art sells the whole bit.
