Hi Afterloot, thanks for entering Afterloot in AI Browser Game Jam 5! Unfortunately we've had to disqualify it because the release date on its page is August 24, before the jam started. The jam rules allow continuing an existing project only if the majority of the submission is new content made during the jam (October 17 to 31). If we got this wrong, or most of the game really was made during the jam, just reply and let us know and we'll be happy to put it back in.

It's a little hard to go through the tutorial on a smaller laptop screen. I had to zoom out a lot to be able to dismiss the tutorial windows.

Wow, there's a lot going on here! 😅 I have to admit I felt a bit overwhelmed by all the menus and information on screen. I wasn't really sure where to start or what to focus on. Seems like there's quite a bit of depth to it, but a more beginner-friendly interface would definitely help!

Thank you, dporto!

TBH, finding the right balance with tutorials has always been a struggle for me. I tend to go back and forth between explaining everything in detail (which usually ends up being a massive wall of text) and keeping things short and simple for players.

This game actually started as a personal dream project, inspired by those good old text-based RPGs I used to play back in the day. The ones that barely gave you any guidance, where you had to explore, experiment, and figure everything out on your own.

I guess part of me still loves that old-school feeling of discovery, but I also realize that not everyone enjoys being thrown into a game without much direction. Finding that sweet spot is definitely something I'm still working on!
