Gosh this was a spectacle to experience! Loved the atmosphere and wandering around the house, took a while to get a lay of the land. Other than movement, I didn't know there was a fun little fight mechanic until the very end, as I just didn't answer the phone, made it out with like 80 anxiety not answering but wish I did to play the little mini game. Still for art and vibes this was peak!

Cool game concept, amazing styalized graphics and audio that perfectly matches! I love the little rhythm game esque feature for resisting/liberating. The movement is really odd to grasp quickly as the diagonally aligned WASD clashes with fully horizontal and vertical walls sometimes and makes navigating around furniture confusing and irritating at times... Other then that this feels like something that could be fleshed out into a super amazing game!
This is super well done! Felt polished and well made. I had a brief look through the submission, and this game caught my eye quite early on. Glad it didn't disappoint me! The graphics and art are really stunning, and I like the whole look of the game a lot. The atmosphere and world-building are also really nice, with some vague story that will make the player curious. Gameplay is a bit simple, it basically boils down to walking around looking for things, and given how dark and how close the player could see, it felt frustrating at times. The QTE/rythym minigame is super nice, though. Anyway, overall really solid entry! BTW I successfully found Lucus yay!
Other things I like:
- The audio fits nicely
- I love how the protagonist just doesn't leave until Lucas is found. What a dedication!
- Lucifer phoning the player is just hilarious
Suggestions:
- Some variation on the rooms to make them stand out would be great, given how little the player can see. It took me ages to finally have an understanding of how the room is laid out, and to the end I still don't know where the bedroom exactly is
- WASD oriented diagonally is just bad to use, and makes the controls really annoying at times. Especially when the room has vertical and horizontal walls, which confuses the player when moving along them. Also, it made navigating around obstacles hard and sucked the fun out a bit
- As others have said, a web build would be nice, and will definitely provide you with the views you deserve
Thank you for the extensive review! Glad you liked it.
We ultimately had 4 days to make the art so we had to pick and choose what to make. I wanted to have 8-directional movement but that would mean a lot more walk cycles to animate. The rooms definitely need more to stand out. This is all we had the time for but we will be updating the game over the coming months. This will include a more complex battle system and more levels.
im not very good at finding things or navigating trhough dark rooms but i think it was fun!
The art looks amazing. It's a shame there's no Web build. How about a small walkthrough?
Wow I'm in love with the art style. And the sound design is just spot on
