overall:

- amazing graphics, fun vampy twist on fps.

intro:

- always love an intro no matter what. also good to have a skip and replay in menu.

audio:

- good ambience/audio bed, static FPS sfx were a little repetitive esp with the starter weapon.

display/presentation:

- absolutely LOVE the graphics. great pixel art, crisp, well done environments and fun enemy designs. fav was the vamp mode hands.

- on game over, the lack of any mouse interaction is a downside. i couldn't even exit fullscreen and thought i would have to kill the browser before i realized it was pure keyboard nav. in a game type that relies on mouse, having mouse interaction for all elements is key.

customization/accessibility:

- no settings, no pause menu (big negative)

gameplay:

- movement was a bit fast/snappy, some drag & sway would be nice.

- death was a little abrupt most of the time. insta-cut to gameover, no audio/visual feedback on hit/lifedrain.

- first enemy encounters WAY too tanky. i counted 20+ hits on the tall enemies with the starter weapon. when just getting a handle on things, i thought i was doing something wrong at first.

- enemies also immovable/impassable objects. if a tanky enemy blocks a necessary path and i can't kill it before i die, it kinda kills the fun/progression

- fun weapons! especially the "brute"/vampire mode. had no idea it was coming but was fun to trigger randomly.

- def replayable. good looking and fun enough to keep me engaged and attempt a half dozen runs or so.

Loved what you were going for here. This one looks amazing, the visuals and effects are very satisfying.

You got to earn your first weapon for real, but getting it, doesn't really make your work easier. The enemies are extra tanky, to the point that I was really doubting if I'm playing in the right way. I finally managed to fight a vampire, what seemed to be a boss fight, and this guy even tankier, getting that sweet vampire mode was super satisfying as well, however still not being able to beat the guy, made me cry again haha.

So yeah, like said in the beginning, loved what you are going for here, you are a few gameplay tweaks from a very amazing experience one could potentially have here!

Personal favorite

A brilliant combination of pixel art and 3D.

A combination of two of my favorite genres: dungeon crawlers and boomer shooters.

The game is pretty cool, but I’m not a fan of the combat—it just lacks impact. Also, the enemy placement feels a bit odd. If these issues were ironed out, it could turn into a solid game, something along the lines of "Wolfenstein 3D."

Hey thanks for playing!, enemies use a behavior tree form unity that is kind of beta library, we notice that the pseudo-random that comes from default tends to move the enemies to the same waypoint; thanks for the feedback, will help us! πŸ˜

I agree and thanks so much for the feedback, it's so valuable, we are taking notes!πŸ“ πŸ‘†

That was a fun game! It’s pretty hard at first and I kept dying a lot, until I figured out I could run past the enemies to get a ranged weapon, and then it gets better. There are a lot of mobs (at some point I had nearly 10 dudes blocking me a passage and 3 more in my back) and they have a lot of life, but the game is quite generous with the ammo and the controls are responsive, so it’s doable.

Visually, I enjoyed the 2D/3D mix which is really well implemented. I didn’t get lost too much thanks to the different statues and sculptures that help with the orientation.

As a point of improvement, it would be good to have a bit more feedback when the enemies get hit, sometimes I wasn’t sure if I was hurting them or not. Also, the mouse is not usable in the menu and it was a bit odd navigating there with the keyboard, but that’s just a detail.

I liked the creepy old school atmosphere, and the transformation into a vampire was a nice addition (and well thought, I think it’s the only way to regain life which makes sense).

Yeah enemies need more damage feedback, it was the last feature we added, at the end we realized that we forget about it πŸ˜… so we added something; I'm happy you liked it and had fun,  thanks for playing!

I loved the aesthetics and gameplay - it was a nice time!
I unfortunately did not find the other weapons so were stuck with the "stomp" baton or what one can call it

However I loved the doom-esque aethetics and reminded me of hexen
The background ambience and soundtrack really was nice! Loved to hear some music and get a spooky vibe out of it!

Developer

Hey thanks!  we are glad you liked it!

Indeed we Heretic and Hexen were our inspiration for the aesthetics, we are fans of those games and we were looking for a dark fantasy style!

Developer

Its nice to hear that and probably we needed to show the name of the weapons πŸ˜…, thanks for the comment!

Interesting but the default weapon puts you at a great disadvantage compared to the enemies

Developer(+2)

Yeah, indeed, we would love to have more levels, but for a small demo we decided to play with the difficulty first and give players a lot of ammo, but noted for a full game :)

Thanks so much for the feedback! We'll consider this in the future!
