How does the game relate to the theme (Haunted)?
Most haunted places are haunted by ghosts. Ours has those too, but this hallway also haunts you with bizarre chores. Complete them and venture into the protagonist’s memory. Will you discover who you really are? And will you find a way out...?

What optional themes/'powerups' were used, if any (Psychedelic and Machine)?
Psychedelic and Machine - the "machine" being a metaphor for the game itself, if that counts ;D

The cats are cute!

I hate those talking mouths.

Wow! What a game! All of the voice acting is really incredible, especially the phone lines. The room with the mouths was so cool, after taking all the mouths off it got really overwhelming and loud, but i think that fit the vibe perfectly; it's what i imagine the girl would have been feeling. I was a bit confused when i kept 'dying'/having to restart, i wasn't sure what actually triggered the face popping up, because sometimes it happened while i was listening to the phone calls... The jumpscares were so good though, i nearly pooped myself when i noticed the guy standing at the end of the hallway in the first room hahahaha. Amazing job guys! :)))

[specs]

  • mac mini m2, 32gb ram, 12 cores
  • browser, chromium

[overall/first impressions]

  • absolutely phenomenal love letter to PT, fun and interesting puzzles, well done psych-horror without being edgy/overboard, great & uncomfortable voice acting and art.

[intro]

  • short opening door animatic/glitch sound

[audio]

  • VERY effective sound design, love to hear some human voice acting, really genuinely creepy atmosphere/ambience

[art/visuals]

  • loved the painterly style of the character art and the assets all felt really well-grounded in the world.

[customization/accessibility]

  • opening tutorial screen with controls/instructions, Hint button (never used but very nice to offer for a puzzle game)
  • pause screen with same exact screen (big plus)
  • no customization for display/audio (slight negative, but didn’t have any issues)

[gameplay/handling/controls]

  • WASD to move, mouse to look, toggleable torch.
  • walking-sim first person PT style psych horror.
  • fun loop with interesting and some slightly difficult puzzles. nice in-world shout outs to the devs/other credited people. very weird/surreal unsettling vibes in general.

[bugs/issues]

  • font used for the UI menu has a special character which doesn’t display due to it being a demo version
  • first and third phone said left click to hang up but the correct button is right click
  • was able to see through all doors by walking up to them as close as possible
  • in the bathroom, the eraser thing kept dropping when i went to scrub something and once i dropped it in front of the sink, i couldn’t pick it up again and had to wait til i died
  • the phone number entry on the last level kept repeating numbers so i had to wait about 2-3 seconds in between each one to get it to stop
  • upon failing the bathroom, there was a weird delay glitch where i should’ve died but didn’t and had to force restart
  • back to menu button on the final credit screen didn’t do anything

The environments and screenshots are what drew me into this game, I think you guys did a great job with establishing a creepy atmosphere. The room with the detachable mouths was very creepy and overwhelming! I did struggle a little with some of the puzzles. One thing I would mention is that you can faze through the end doors and get a sneak peak of the next level which ruined a little of the surprise for me but overall I think the team did a great job with a really creative game :)))

I went from saying "Aww" at photos of cats, to swearing when my flashlight ran out, to letting out an "AHH" when I saw a shadow kid. All within a few seconds haha. Cool PT style game here, nicely done.

The game's premise is very interesting. The loop mechanic is a lot of fun, and searching for changes in the environment is really cool. (I’ve set aside the issue of polish, given that this is a game jam; I know that if you had more time, you would have made the gameplay feel much smoother.) Congratulations!

I really enjoyed this game! The atmosphere is incredibly creepy and does a great job of creating tension. The eerie sounds of the spirits make the experience even more unsettling. I also really like the flashlight mechanic: since its battery is limited, you have to be careful when using it and spend time navigating in the darkness to save power. It makes the experience even more stressful!

Great job, everyone!

Thank You so much!^^

The graphics are beautiful, but the game isn't playable for me at least. It stutters a lot, and then it starts crawling. It's difficult to solve the 2nd puzzle since the sounds get mushed together if you're not really careful. There's an idea behind all of this, but it's overshadowed by noise.

Heyy, thanks so much for letting us know! We didn’t really have enough time to properly playtest, so your feedback is invaluable to us💛!! May I please ask which build you were playing? The downloadable one or the web build :D?

Submitted

I was playing the Web build on FireFox. The game wasn't playable after I reached stage 2.
