A new major update was uploaded today, expanding on the blight and region features!

I have created a devlog post that explains the new features here:

I would love to hear your feedback on those topics as well.

Protect your city in Hearth and Wall from the incoming enemy waves.

Gather resources by assigning your villagers or send them to defend your city, but you only get one new villager each day - will you send them to gather resources so you can build more towers or send them to defend your city, before it falls to the enemy ?

Your city has a unique building - the portal - that can teleport your whole city to a new region, with other resources, a different battlefield and different monsters.

You can decide if you risk to stay longer in one region and gather resolve (a resource used for buying permanent upgrades) while facing off stronger enemies or move to the next region to battle new enemies and bosses.

The (demo) game currently features three regions (+ one tutorial region) and will be developed further. :)

Your feedback would help a lot. :)

You can play it for free in your browser or download it for windows here:

Hello, you wonderful internet people!

I'm a solo developer doing game development as a side hobby and I'm proud to have published a first version of Hearth and Wall. :)

https://codingbob.itch.io/hearth-and-wall

It's a mixture of a tower defence/roguelite game with light city/worker management elements you can play for free in the browser.

You need to work around your resources (villagers, wood, stone, gold) to generate enough resources and protect your city from the incoming monster waves. Currently, there are three regions (+1 tutorial region) with mini-bosses and main bosses that will try to take down your wall.

You have a unique building in your town that can transport your whole city to a new region (different amounts of resources, different battlefield, different monsters). Depart early to avoid the main boss of a region (but they will follow you to the end region) or stay overstay your welcome in a region to face off stronger waves and earn resolve (a currency which can be used to purchase permanent upgrades between runs).

-----------------------

I'm looking for all kinds of feedback on the game.

e.g:

- Did you overall enjoy the game ?

- What did you like ?

- What did you NOT like ?

- How do you feel about the city/worker management feature ?

- Does the tower defence aspect of the game feel right ?

- Do the permanent upgrades feel rewarding and are worth chasing after ?

Feel free to take the above questions as a rough direction, no need to stick to them, any kind and any form of feedback is highly welcome!

I would love to hear from you! :)

Kind regards,

Coding Bob

The game feels really well done and I really liked the level transitions! The higher levels are quite tricky though, but it's nice that you can just skip a level via the level selection.

Cute idea to save the dog and really nice images at the start.

The blizzard caused big FPS drops on my machine, maybe too many particles ? ;)

Thank you for the detailed feedback! :)

It was tested on a smaller map and during the last few hours we made a bigger map with more blocks and gnomes. We kinda missed it, that clicking once for each gnome would become tedious with many gnomes, but you are right about that.

Thanks for the feedback!

Jumping (or any other kind or reasonable way to move ;) ) unfortunately didnt make it into this build. But you are right, this could have saved that little fellow you saw there. :D

Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it. :)

Nice idea with the symmetry axis, makes me really think about the next move. But I admit that after a while I just kept moving forward.

I wonder what would happen if there were even more symmetry axes that could be moved ? :D

Got a new high score. :)

Many chickens were hurt in the process of winning the game. ;)

Challenging, but fun game with cute chicken art.

A very relaxing game, although I feel that getting 100 points is quite the challenge. ;)

Thanks for the feedback! I agree that this would probably come in handy once you have many gnomes. :)

Great art and fun idea that santa was drinking with the reindeers! :)

I really loved the face of the reindeer when it realized it's christmas.

Really cute art and has a very cozy feel to it. Nice!

A small piece of feedback: The entry to the next level at the bottom right of the map with Loretta is kinda hard to spot. ;)
