Revolution's campaign is finally complete.

After years of development, the main story of Revolution has reached its ending.

But before moving on to the next campaign, I made one of the biggest cleanup passes Nordion Lands has received so far.

I fixed a large number of bugs, including several serious issues affecting the browser version, which is currently one of the most played versions of the game.

I also completely recoded one of the most problematic races using the newer pseudo-3D racing system inspired by PICO-8 techniques. The previous implementation was causing major bugs and performance problems, so I decided to replace it instead of continuing to patch it.

I also found a major texture-performance issue that was causing severe stuttering in certain areas. After removing that bottleneck, the game now uses more memory but runs much more consistently.

So the current version is both:

The end of Revolution's story

and

a major stability/performance update.

I'm now moving my main development focus toward a new Nordion Lands campaign and other projects, while continuing to release smaller bug fixes and quality-of-life updates.

Revolution's story is finished. Nordion Lands is not.

I've been developing a tool for GameMaker called Shinguji GML Studio.

Shinguji is a modular no-code development environment that I originally created for my own projects because I wanted to build and organize complex game systems without having to write GML for every single part of the workflow.

The idea is to build systems from reusable modules instead of treating every feature as a completely separate piece of code.

The project currently includes tools and modules for things like:

Iris Paint — drawing and image editing
Sumire Theater Studio — dialogue and cinematic/event tools
Ogami Clicker Game — clicker/idle game systems
Minigame Generator — creating reusable minigame structures
Engage Wars — Map — tools for creating strategy-game maps
Dialogue Studio — visual dialogue editing

One of the main things I'm working toward is making the system modular and expandable, so new tools can be added without having to rebuild the entire editor.

I've been using Shinguji in my own projects, including Nordion Lands: The Dimension of Science, where it has helped me build and organize dialogue, events and other systems.

The goal isn't to replace GameMaker itself. Instead, I'm trying to create a layer on top of it that makes certain types of development more visual and modular.

The project is currently available on itch.io:

I'm particularly interested in hearing from other GameMaker developers:

Would a modular no-code workflow like this be useful to you? What kinds of tools or systems would you want to see as modules?

A FIRST-PERSON POINT-AND-CLICK IN AN OPEN WORLD?

Nordion Lands: The Dimension of Science is a first-person sci-fi adventure that combines point-and-click investigation with open-world exploration.

Instead of moving between traditional adventure-game screens, you explore the world directly in first person.

Talk to people. Examine objects. Investigate locations. Discover secrets.

Explore cities, villages, forests, mountains, universities, laboratories and industrial facilities in a world designed as a connected country rather than a collection of levels.

And then...

YOU CAN RIDE A HORSE THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS.

Nordion Lands features illegal mountain races inspired by Japanese touge racing.

Initial D, but everyone rides horses.

YOU PLAY AS REVOLUTION

Revolution is a sentient clone who escaped from the laboratory that created her.

In Nordion Lands, clones are not considered human.

They are property.

Her journey takes her through laboratories, cities and hidden locations while she tries to understand her own creation and why the people who created her want her back.

THE REBIRTH UPDATE

The latest version expands and rebuilds parts of the game.

  • Larger open world
  • New objective beacon system
  • Reworked rendering pipeline
  • Revolution's apartment
  • Full controller and touch support
  • Full English translation
  • Updated soundtrack
  • New anime-style opening
  • Major bug-fixing pass

The game is free to play directly in your browser.

The world is waiting.

Nordion Lands: The Dimension of Science is a first-person sci-fi adventure where point-and-click investigation meets open-world exploration.

Explore cities, laboratories, forests and mountains. Talk to people, examine objects, uncover secrets — and eventually get involved in illegal horse touge racing.

Initial D, but everyone rides horses.

🚨 The Rebirth Update is now available, featuring:

🗺️ Larger overworld
📍 New objective beacon system
🎨 Reworked rendering pipeline
🐛 Massive bug-fixing pass
🏠 Revolution's apartment
🎮 Full controller + touch support

That's Nordion Lands.

I'm making a sci-fi game where you explore a first-person open world, but instead of shooting your way through it, you actually look around, examine things, talk to characters and interact with the world like a point-and-click adventure.

And then...

you can get on a horse and go racing through the mountains. 🐎

Nordion Lands mixes:

🌎 First-person open-world exploration
🖱️ Point-and-click interaction
🐎 Horse racing / touge
🧬 Cloning & unethical science
🤖 Reactive characters and relationships
👁️ Psychological horror

You play as Revolution, a clone who escaped from the laboratory that created her.

The world is built to feel like an actual place rather than a collection of levels — with cities, laboratories, forests, mountains, hidden locations and things happening around you.

And yes, the browser version is playable right now.

🎮 Play Nordion Lands:

What would you do first: explore the world, investigate the science, or find a mountain road and race your horse? 🐎

Forget cars. Forget highways.

What if Initial D happened in a world where everyone raced on horseback?

That's basically one of the things you can do in Nordion Lands: The Dimension of Science.

🐎 Ride through dangerous mountain roads
🏁 Take part in illegal touge races
💰 Race for money
🐴 Take care of your horse and manage its condition
🌎 Explore a huge PSX-style sci-fi world
🧬 Investigate cloning experiments
🔬 Explore laboratories and strange facilities

And yes — this is actually part of the game.

Nordion Lands is a first-person sci-fi adventure that mixes exploration, point-and-click gameplay, RPG systems, psychological horror and horse racing.

You play as Revolution, a sentient clone trying to escape a society where clones aren't legally considered human.

The game is free to play and the Web version runs directly in your browser.

🏁 Think you can survive the mountain roads?

I'd love to know what you think after playing it.

And yes... I'm completely serious about the horses. 🐎

(1 edit)

Yeah! I definitely want to expand the clone interaction system in future updates. I have a lot more ideas planned for them! 👀

Nordion Lands: The Dimension of Science — A PSX-style first-person sci-fi adventure

Hi everyone! I recently released a new update for my game, Nordion Lands: The Dimension of Science.

It's a first-person sci-fi adventure that combines open-world exploration, RPG mechanics, horse racing and point-and-click gameplay with a PlayStation-era-inspired visual style.

You play as Revolution, a sentient clone escaping the scientific organization that created her in a world where clones are legally considered property.

You can explore cities, laboratories, forests and industrial areas, interact with NPCs, participate in horse races and uncover the story behind Nordion Lands' cloning experiments.

The latest update also introduces new original music and removes previously used unauthorized music as I continue developing Nordion Lands' own soundtrack.

I'm also working on new systems for interacting with the clones and Revolution's apartment, which will be introduced in a future update.

The game is free to play and has both a Windows version and a browser version.

I'd be interested in hearing what you think about the game and its unusual combination of genres.
