Heh, yeah, some word still needs improving! Regardless, thanks for the feedback, helps a lot!
I've released a new version that has the looping feature now, let me know if it works/doesn't work :)

Hello! I think new SteamOS version changed some things, but the latest release I just made should address this very issue :) Could you please try that out and let me know if it works or not?
Hello! I don't know exactly what frametop could be doing that could impact other applications, but that you have nix installed shouldn't be an issue, I do too.
Could you try the latest released version and tell me if this issue still happens?
Thank you for the kind words!
Yeah, some people been asking for a way to contribute code, but I'm not sure I'm ready to slow down development yet and spend time coordinating, for now I'll continue to publish the source inside the download, so you could at least improve what you really need ASAP. All my infrastructure would need rewriting in this case too, as it's all local right now, which I don't want to spend time on, I much rather make the player more mature first :) I'll revisit this in the future no doubt!
About the seeking, I think you're right, for 3 hour long movies it can take quite a while. A button to hold down to speed up (and also another for slowing down) I think is a great way to surface this, thanks a lot for the idea and feedback, I've noted this down and will include in a future version!
Again, thanks a whole bunch both for the feedback and kind words, helps a lot to make it better! <3
If this is after resuming from suspend, I think this is a known issue where there is some SteamOS bug leading to the "unsuspend" animation still holding on to stuff even when it's no longer visible.
Try restarting your headset and then playing the video again. If you get the same error, it'd be very helpful if you shared what the codec and overall metadata is, it'd help a lot!
Oh yeah, something like that wouldn't be so hard I figure and would make sense, will investigate!
An in-app web browser might be slightly harder to pull off, but I'm not 100% sure until I dig deeper. My first instinct was to do it the other way, find a way to make Chrome/Firefox be able to open up MatineeVR if there is compatible formats/playback found, would that make sense to you instead of a in-app web browser or sounds not so good?
Thanks, glad you like it! Yeah, I'm in the process of making the UX and UI a whole lot better, including customizing where exactly it sits, as everyone seems to prefer it differently :) Being able to use it as an image viewer I hadn't even considered, sounds like a reasonable thing to support, thanks for the suggestion, will definitely add it to the list of stuff to add!
If MatineeVR doesn't work for you, there is another alternative available here on Itch too, not made by me (developer of MatineeVR), but might work better for some: https://0x5311f56b.itch.io/gantry
A bunch of the UI was clearly made with the help of coding agents and similar, the visual style is too identical from common LLM output for you to have independently come up with this.
With that said, I don't think that's bad or anything, I rather have things existing than things not existing at all :) Just be upfront with how you use these tools and responsibly disclose what they were used for, and it's not a problem.
I still liked the game, even if it's a bit unpolished atm, but think with some more care and more time, can end up really good! Keep up the good work, excited to see future improvements to the game! Don't let the doomsayers get you down and run your own race!
