and yeah they are really interesting games! It's all so complex >v<

This might be the best review i've received so far...
Some parts of it made me chuckle even! ToT
funny enough I have yet to play Omori actually! O.O
I have played many others like Needy Streamer Overload (this game is partially quite simmilar), Doki Doki, etc
And i have such a long history and fascination towards gamedesign and how psychological horror is done in games. The sound design in DDLC, the off-key disturbed version of the OST when going insane in YanSim, all of it! I've been making music for a while that hits the uncanny uncomfortable spot (though I didnt have time to make such song for this game due to the time sadge :< I will later for sure though!)
oops i might be yapping
for the critique,
- I have noticed the contrast issues on that summer card. (and a bit on the energy drink one), thx for pointing out though!
- Tbh i was surprised when i realized my game didnt even use the keyboard, and it worked on phone T^T it might be a little more difficult but if the text is still readable enough, then i could make a mobile version that simply increases the size of those flames!

besides that,
- I'm so happy that the game doesnt really have a tutorial. I didnt plan for a tutorial and didnt really notice it wasnt much needed. its insane how many of you understood the connection to the stats that change the flames' behaviour ^o^

I also feel like the expression of such struggles was my main goal, also considering almost all dialogue can naturally and I didnt even think a second about what it would say-
but anyway, yeah.. it's not easy
it's balancing things that would seem simple on the surface, but the struggles are real. and it's okay to not be the best at life at times..

Thank you for your review<3

my review!

- controller support is super nice! (not that i need it but still!)

- title screen impression; very nice 2.5D/lowpoly artstyle it seems like. the particles and such add a lot to the calming vibes feeling alive!

- game lagged a bit after pressing start

- the intro makes the rule and theme become so obvious, in such a smooth way, I didnt even notice they explained the mechanic to me, I just understood following the dialogue

- sensitivity slider just made my experience a lot better aswell

- interacting with E is clear in the gameplay with the UI, though not reading the controls made me unsure what button to press to progress the intro dialogue (thought it was space at first). wanted to point that out

- also the map and the movement and all the stuff in this world feels so amazing, id not be surprised if this became a steam game, it's quite worthy imo!

- its refreshing to see this type of game with the 3d world, from this jam.

- id love if the cars honked when you jumped on them :>

- it'd also be funny if when you stand inside a campfire (and i mean literally) that your skin will turn all dark brown like a marshmallow- the character reminds me of one too! (the effect could fade away after a few seconds ofc but itd be such a funny little touch)

- the leaf-sliding sfx kept playing constantly when i died during it. it did fix itself when sliding again

- having the camera not be obstructed would make the platforming a lot better, in future updates ofc :P

- after obtaining the jacket, re-interaction make them say i havent found all 3 yet, obv unintentional-

- falling off the map puts you back at the last ground you were on, which is amazing, though, if you fall any other time anywhere, it brings you to that first spot you fell down from

- my first try i thought i broke the game because i collected all 3 acorns (which seemed like the main mission), and also a coco, which i didnt notice had an effect. i also didnt remember them saying anything about needing 3 warming items, so i reset thinking i bugged the game. on second playthrough i did notice the guy in the trees and then it clicked. maybe if that was more clear it'd be a lot nicer for dumb people like me ehe

- yay i completed the game! i'd loved for there to be a final dialogue with your 2 friends to close things off, but all these suggestions im giving are just because im interested in this game and have these ideas!

you can use them or ignore them. either way the game thats been made for this jam is super awesome. really a great job!

Ill have to plan out a lot of stuff beforehand so i don't mess things up- if we're talking a full version ><
I am also starting to see the potential myself because of all this nice support!
Thank you for trying it out!

<3333

- title screen is SOOO CUTEE

- the music is instant DDLC vibes and it makes me melt

(title screen music doesnt loop though- intended or not ^^, the others do tho!)

- the transitions are so smooth and polished :o

- romance novels mentioned

- why is 50 s in there T^T

- the walking sleep feels a tiny bit slow at times-

- U CAN PET THE CAT

- genuinely, the animations might be very simple- just having 2 frames- but it adds so much life to the scene, not to mention its already a very cozy room (love the art!!!!!)

- this is something very tedious in these typa games, but when you already have one or the other of the 2 objects you need, the dialogue can sometimes talk like you still need said item. it could be a nice touchup to go through it all but for the jam itself i understand the struggle T^T

- the changelogs are a nice addition, i might have to consider that myself!

- such a sweet ending (id love an ending CG cus i can only imagine how cute it'd be >v<)

really nice game, nothing to add tbh, it has a start and an end, i liked it!

should be fine dw

Very beautiful game Tory!
The design is super polished ^^
I do really suck at these typa games but it was fun to try!

Great music design, it's very impressive!
the game is really interesting and to be honest id love to see a full version with much more lore, although I think this guy's fuming, so perhaps it's not possible-

Amazingly simple chill game, it's very cozy and warm ^^
I did notice that if you rotate while holding an object, while being above another placed object, it rotates said placed object the first time instead of the one you're holding-
also I'd love a undo/redo button but that wouldve probably been complicated.
nice job!

gahhhh thank u smmmmmm!

maybe I'll be able to publish a full version on steam in the future o.0
I'll do my best! 🙏BLESS🙏

Your feedback is so constructed, I can improve a lot with this, many thanks!

It is true that the balancing is quite off, to be honest I had little to zero time to really take my time and playtest it for it's balancing. and its an area ill have to really figure out in the future. I do intend to make a major balancing update that doesn't necessarily add more content, but makes the base-experience super refined, so I can add new content onto stable ground!
I'll really take into account all your POI's ^^
I want to make it a little more separated from NSO, as it could be quite similar. I'll think about extra minigames or features that expand beyond the initial concept!
"I noticed that some development effort went into this screen"
I think you're talking about the minigame mostly
And yeah money needs a bigger role as well. balancing is so complex with every element multiplying the complexity x.x
Regarding the theme, because it was optional, and the game takes place in all 4 themes (a year), starting in autumn, I felt like it would mostly suffice. I do want to make the seasons more clear by having a more detailed background, which I can do now considering I do have the time for it now ^^

Your compliments are warming to hear though <3
I'll make sure to live up to the potential of this games future

tutorial is nice with all the images, they added a lot imo

the concept is very simple, but I really loves the guitar, it's the best part by far
I say that as ive been making my own song with it for 10 minutes before realizing you can actually find the papers and make it play a song for you T^T

really nice and cozy jam game!

"this reminds me of something"

snas???

"this smells familiar"

paprisus?

and then they started yapping about eating candles ToT

anyway, I love how the upgrades actually give you like so many differnt heat sources at once, it really makes sense they went up in flames lol.

great concept, the dialogue is very unique and enjoyable!

music:
so nice and calming, it fits the game!

tutorial:
I love that it shows the text one by one with the little animation/sound.

even something as small as that can make reading a screen full of text way more enjoyable. I'm gonna keep this idea in mind because it's very clever, nice!

art:
It fits really nice and feels like there's nothing missing here!

gameplay:
without the green bar and the ui i wouldn't have been able to complete it im 99% sure.

the "green zone" is visually not that obvious only looking at the room tint. but its nice there are 2 modes therefore!

the game could maybe benefit from some randomness or variety. It's a very fun concept for a Jam and I feel like this is enough for now but in the future it'd be fun to see some things like the green area change. maybe even because the seasons change mid-game, making the comfort level different.

I really likes the fnaf vibes too, with the room switching! extra side mechanics you also have to keep track of in later levels could be fun additions maybe!

overall, great jam game guys!

I'd love to see what the future holds for this project if yall decide to continue on it ^^

yay!

<33333 thank you!

Maybe I should learn from that one ToT

omg ty!! It's the first real artwork i managed to pull off >v<

ahh I see, those last-moment things always be chaotic lol

Cute little game, the 2 other characters were surprisingly fun aswell, even by just joining the camp. I did run out of wood and lost T^T
Would love some music or something too ^^
Nice clock though, actually showing the arms and stuff

ah that makes sense, It's everytime you get past another full week (everything that takes you past the sunday)

I could look into making the week counter more obviously part of the gamedesign.
either way thank you for your clarification!

It was intriguingly designed. I found hard mode to be too hard at first so i did the easy one, but after that I really explored the map of hard mode and I found the exit! It really felt like a little adventure.
nice experience, great job!
I'd love for there to also maybe be a way to scare off the enemies, maybe they dont follow you when you're at a campfire
besides that, good game!

A very unique little game this is!
I kinda vibe with this style, although short in its current state
You mightve missed to put some spaces between the words "correct-thrice-in"
Nice submission!!

I never knew picking up leaves was THIS satisfying,

I really wanted to jump into the tree from the first second gosh.

even besides the gameplay loop, I love the addicting design, for better or worse ^^

great job you two!

Thank you ^o^

The minigame is kinda symbolic and to your own interpretation, but story-wise its basically like thoughts or your little soul flames you have to put at ease. because they could give you sleepless nights sometimes ykkk x.x

if you meant mechanically, do you feel like i need to add some sort of clear instructions on what to do?
(im currently very glad I dont even have any tutorial or instructions needed so far ehe)

Gosh what an interesting game...
It's so so so bittersweet...
Great storytelling, and massive vocabulary wow
the visuals felt super complete and it added to the story how it should. same can be said for the music
nice game, congrats!

<333
I'd love to see the future versions of the project :>

This means so much to me, ty!! o.o <33333
I'm so glad that the topics and story comes across this nicely-
I didnt think too much about all the dialogue, it's just something i thought off naturally (may or may not be because it's relatable to myself... 0.o)
I'll have a look at that card for the next update, tysm for mentioning it ^^

Thankyouu ^^
It might be a bit long yeah, though game-jam games dont have a strict duration-limit i dont think.
but i do understand it might be a little tedious to get an ending when there are so many games you still need to try out ^^"

Thank you so much for playing<3
I really appreciate hearing the experience from others, and im surprised you got 2 endings! (idk why, maybe bc i didnt have enough time to actually get all the endings legit bc time was running out T^T)
I'll DEFINITELY add more cards and some extra functions. I'm also considering a change in how some cards work to make them less effective over time, because 1 ending is very very hard to get right now because it requires many conditions that i am not able to all get at once tbh. so yeah I'll be updating the game soon ^^

Pretty nice idea for the limitation! Very visual and clear
I'm not sure about the AI usage and how much it has been used though

Great game! Here's my feedback, all over the place but I hope it might be of value

- the orange cards in the hand looked like characters you could place on the board just like the 3 that are there already- (them having the same outline colors caused some confusion in the beginning. if they were blue or something then i might've understood faster but yeah idk, just wanted to mention it)

- I figured out but didn't really visually see that every of the 3 characters can only do 1 action max every turn, maybe add context when a second time is denied, or show that it cant do it anymore after 1 time?

- the art is unbelievable i really love every piece of it

- I love Inscryption and this game really does remind me of it a little

- Fun storyy, it fits!

- when going Fullscreen the dialogue text is pretty small for me (when not in the cardgame)

- I don't think there's sound in the game? Might be me but I did see there was voice acting so I'd love to hear that T^T

- maybe the tutorial dialogue would benefit from showing while in the card game already, text + visuals helps more than text and then have to connect the dots yourself i think. but even though i skipped a bit of the dialogue I still figured out the game so compliments!

- the checkmark is a little camouflaged cus its the same color as the outline, not that i didn't notice it but its a POI (maybe bit it a little beneath the ui box or more within for example

- I did notice that my flame-health was really high most of the run. like, it was no concern. maybe decrease the max? make it harder that way?

- some actions like 'free the X' can be used even if there's nothing that can be freed or cleared, but it does use up that turn

- the 'choose a card to X' UI has this nice drawing, but also a gray box around it. not sure if its a placeholder but i did wanna mention it ^^

- the characters feel so alive, especially in the artworks, its really beautiful! props to Ry!

- the gameplay was very nice, everything worked smoothly once i understood it all, great loop for such a short jam!

- the room and its models were very detailed for the amount of time!

- The language was very well translated

<3

aaah yay tysm!!!!

Pretty challenging, but i made it!
The artstyle is nice and simple, wouldnt change anything there.
overall pretty decent game, nice!

ooohh I do like the particles, they look like water wind and fire-
most of the lag came when pressing the mouse decently fast
maybe it's just my browser though

<3

You just aren't skilled enough yet smh

I love cats, they are so cute.
Maybe turn down the gravity, by like, 5x, it'd make the falling and platforming feel nicer. though it's a fun little game, nice job!

Also, the winscreen was SO WORTH IT- super cute!!!
