Hey! I saw your post and I'd love to team up for the jam. I have experience in a few different areas of gamedev and can adapt to what the project needs. Is there any platform we could connect on other than Discord?

Hey! Just like you, I'm pretty new here—it hasn't even been a year since I created my itch.io account. The only jam I had time to join and assemble a team for was the Spooktober VN jam, though unfortunately I couldn't complete my project back then. I haven't officially released a full game yet and I consider myself a beginner as well :)
I read that you struggle with project management and scoping, and I can definitely help you with that! I have experience managing and building a team from scratch, as well as ideation, writing GDDs, and project leadership. My core skills are Pixel Art, ideation, and playtesting.
For this jam, I'm in serious need of a programmer and a music composer, so I think we could make a great team together!
You can check out my work on my profile (the asset packs there are completely free to download if you want to take a look).
Hello! I want this jam to be my entry point into game development, and I'm looking to join a team to help them with pixel art.
I'm a huge fan of classic retro pixel games—classic Sonic games and Doom 1 & 2 are titles I never get tired of playing and listening to their soundtracks!
I don't really see myself at a level to give advice to anyone yet, but to work faster, I usually rely on the classic workflow (unless the art style calls for a specific approach):
1. Rough Sketch / Blocking: Getting the main shape on the canvas without worrying about mistakes.
2. Clean Lineart: Refining pixel lines and cleaning up double pixels.
3. Flat Colors: Filling in base colors with the bucket tool.
4. Details & Texturing: Adding small touches like cracks, moss, stubble, or spots.
5. Shading & Highlights: Giving the piece depth and a 3D feel.
I'd love to hear more about your roguelike game and help out if you need an artist!
Hi WorldBuilder40!
I saw your post and I'm really impressed by your focus on Atmospheric Horror and Grimdark narrative design.
We already have a full team assembled, as well as the complete core story, GDD, and world lore ready for our Cosmic Horror / Sci-Fi Visual Novel project for this Jam.
Right now, we are specifically looking for a Dialogue Editor to help refine, polish, and enhance the atmospheric tone of our character interactions and terminal logs.
If you're interested in joining us for this role, please drop your Gmail address in a DM or reply so I can reach out with the pitch and project details!
Looking forward to working together.
Hi @alliecat21 and @SummmerVelvet !
I saw both of your comments and would love to invite you to join our team for the Spooktober Jam!
We are developing a psychological horror game with a unique risk-management mechanic. Our goal for the jam is to focus on a high-quality, polished vertical slice / demo, with plans to expand it into a full game post-jam.
Your combined skill sets are exactly what we need right now:
- @SummmerVelvet: For Godot programming and gameplay design.
- @alliecat21: For character art and helping with narrative/dialogue editing.
Since I currently don't have access to Discord, our whole team is communicating via Telegram. If you're interested in checking out our GDD and project concept, please message me on Telegram: @pixel void

my bluesky: @pixelvoid9.bsky.social
Looking forward to working together!
Hi! Quick question regarding the submission rules: Is it allowed to submit a playable demo / vertical slice of a project for this jam, rather than a full, complete game?
Our team is working on an ambitious concept and we want to ensure high quality and polishing within the timeframe, with plans to expand it into a full game post-jam.
Thanks in advance for your time!
Hi! I checked out your profile, and I have to say your game idea caught my attention—it sounds super interesting! You've got great skills, and I really admire that. It’s always awesome to connect with someone who’s so passionate about game development.
Unfortunately, I already have my own project and idea lined up for this game jam. However, I’d still love to help you out during this jam if you need it (even if we’re technically competitors!), or team up with you for another jam or a project outside of jams in the future.
You can count on me for pixel art, narrative design/storytelling, low-poly modeling (I’m still pretty new to it, though), brainstorming, and project lead/management—not in a bossy way, but in terms of organizing tasks, writing the GDD (Game Design Document), and recruiting team members.
Also, feel free to check out my itch.io page to see some of my work. Just ignore the bio—I know it's pretty cringe and I really need to update it! :)
Hi! Yes, absolutely — we'd love to have you! GDScript is exactly what we need since we're building in Godot (not Ren'Py).
We're making a psychological horror VN — low-poly 3D, first-person, claustrophobic atmosphere, non-anime style. We've got story/direction, music, and background art covered, and we're still looking for a programmer, so your timing is perfect.
Unfortunately my Discord isn't working right now, so it'd be easier to reach me on Telegram, email, or Bluesky. Let me know which works best for you!
Unfortunately my Discord isn't working right now, so I can't add you there. If possible, could you reach out to me on Telegram instead? That's where the whole team communicates — my handle is @PixelVoid9. If you're still unsure about joining, feel free to reach out via email or Bluesky first: m7665457@gmail.com or @pixelvoid9.bsky.social
Hey! I checked out your portfolio, your realistic style could be a great fit for what I'm working on.
I'm putting together a small team for a psychological horror VN — not anime-style, more grounded and unsettling (low-poly 3D environments, first-person). It follows a death row prisoner sent on a solo space mission who slowly uncovers something being hidden from him, including a mysterious being that keeps showing up at his spacecraft, asking to be let in.
We've got story/direction (me), music, and background art covered already, and I'm looking for a character artist. Would you be interested in joining?

Don't get your hopes up, they haven't replied to me either! But if you're still looking for a team, I'd love to have you on board.
We’re building a psychological horror game (non-anime style) with low-poly visuals and a bleak, liminal atmosphere—in the same vein as No, I'm Not a Human or Iron Lung. It has additional mechanics, but dialogue choices are the main narrative driver. The rest of the project details are under wraps for now, but I'll be happy to share them if you're interested.
Our current lineup:
- Me (Project Lead, Concept, Low-Poly Environment Artist, Pixel Artist when needed, and overall support)
- Composer / Sound Designer
- Background Artist
We’re specifically looking for a Programmer (as well as a Character Artist and Dialogue Editor).
Just a heads-up: this isn't just a quick jam entry—we have ambitious plans for an official full release down the road.

Hi! I have a game concept for this jam — I handle story writing and pixel art myself (you can check out my work on my itch.io profile), and I'd love to have you on board for music and SFX. Would you be interested in joining the team?

1 day left! Small team looking to fill our final spots for a psychological horror VN.
What we've got: story/direction (me), composer, background artist, (likely) programmer.
Still need:
🧑💻 Assistant programmer (not Ren'Py — need real 3D support & first-person movement)
🎨 Character artist (non-anime, grounded/unsettling style)
✍️ Dialogue editor (fluent English)
Beginners welcome too!
Story: a death row prisoner sent on a solo space mission uncovers something being hidden — including a mysterious being that keeps showing up at his spacecraft door. Claustrophobic, dread-driven horror.
Not just a one-off jam project — planning to grow this further after. Any money earned from this game, in any form, will be split equally among all team members (background artist included), including the project lead.
You can reach me on Bluesky, Telegram, email, or just reply here! Let's talk fast.

Hi! I saw your post — I have a game concept in mind for GBJAM14, but I'd rather share the details privately. I'm mainly a pixel artist/designer and don't have coding experience, so your multi-engine background sounds like a great fit! Would you be interested in teaming up? Happy to share more once we connect.

Hey! Your experience is exactly what I need — VN logic from your Ren'Py project plus Godot 4 experience from your other games is a perfect combo.
I'm putting together a small team for a psychological horror VN. It follows a death row prisoner sent on a solo space mission, who slowly uncovers something being hidden from him — including a mysterious being that keeps showing up at his spacecraft, asking to be let in. Low-poly 3D, first-person, claustrophobic and dread-driven rather than jump scares. Not an anime-style project, more grounded and unsettling.
We've already got story/direction (me), music (composer on board), and a background artist. Definitely open to your input on characters and world-building too, since that's clearly a strength of yours!
Would love to chat more — feel free to reply here or reach out on Bluesky!

Hi! I checked out your portfolio, really nice work! I'm putting together a team for a psychological horror VN (low-poly 3D environments, first-person, non-anime tone — more grounded and unsettling, similar to "No, I'm Not a Human").
I could definitely use you for background/environment art regardless of style. As for character art, since our project leans away from an anime look, I wanted to ask — would you be comfortable working in a more realistic/unsettling non-anime style for characters too? If so, that role's open as well!
Unfortunately my Discord isn't working right now, so it'd be easier to reach me here or via email. Let me know if you're interested!

Hi Soraya! I saw your post here and your semi-realism style really caught my eye, especially your horror work.
I'm putting together a small team for a psychological horror VN — not an anime-style project, more grounded and unsettling, similar in tone to games like "No, I'm Not a Human." The game uses simple low-poly 3D environments, so background art actually isn't something you'd need to worry about at all — your character art would be the main visual focus.
A bit about the project: it follows a death row prisoner sent on a solo space mission, who slowly uncovers something being hidden from him — including a mysterious being that keeps showing up at his spacecraft, asking to be let in. Claustrophobic, dread-driven horror rather than jump scares.
We've got story/direction (me) and music (already have a composer) covered, and I'm also looking for a programmer.
Just wanted to check — are you still open to joining a team, or have you already settled in with one? No pressure either way, just would love to chat more if you're interested!

Hi! Quick question about the prize payouts — if a team wins one of the cash prizes, is there an option to receive it via cryptocurrency? I'm based in a country where standard payment processors (PayPal, Stripe, bank transfers) aren't accessible due to sanctions, so I wanted to check if there's an alternative payout method available. Thanks!
Hey Stephen! I saw your post here on the Spooktober jam board — your dark, imperfect character style really stood out to me, especially for horror.
I'm putting together a small team for a psychological horror visual novel for Spooktober. The story follows a death row prisoner sent on a solo space mission, who slowly realizes something horrifying is being hidden — including a mysterious being that keeps showing up asking to be let in. I think your style could be a great fit specifically for that character, since it needs to feel unsettling and 'off' in a way that's hard to nail with clean art.
A bit about the project: I'm handling story/characters and mainly working in pixel art myself, so background/environment art (something with a liminal, claustrophobic feel) is more of an open need on my end than character art — but your character work could be a great addition regardless.
One more thing worth mentioning: this isn't just a one-off jam project for me. I'm looking to keep developing this beyond the jam into something more ambitious, so if you're looking for that kind of longer-term opportunity too (which it sounds like you are!), this could be a good match.
Unfortunately my Discord account isn't logging in, so feel free to reach out here or via email if you'd like to chat more!

Looking for a Programmer (and a Few Other Roles) — Psychological Horror VN (Ambitious, Beyond-the-Jam Project)
Hey everyone! 👋
I'm putting together a small, friendly team for a psychological horror visual novel for Spooktober.
Quick pitch: it's 1947, and you're a death row prisoner offered a strange deal — freedom, in exchange for a solo space mission. As the story unfolds, you realize you're not the only prisoner out there, something is being hidden from all of you, and a mysterious visitor keeps showing up at your spacecraft door, asking to be let in. Claustrophobic, atmospheric horror — dread over jump scares.
Visual style will be simple (pixel art / low poly / low-fi voxel), so nothing too heavy on the tech side.
Worth mentioning: this isn't just a one-off jam project for us — we're planning to keep building on it afterward and take it somewhere a bit more ambitious, so if you're looking for something with room to grow beyond the jam, this could be a good fit.
What we've got so far:
- Story & character writing (me)
- Music (already have a composer on board)
Roles we're still looking for:
- Programmer (main need — open to whatever engine/tools you're comfortable with)
- Sound effects creator
- Someone skilled in low poly or pixel art (I can also cover pixel art myself if needed, but happy to have another set of hands)
I don't have big expectations here — my main goal is connecting with people, learning, and having fun making something together. If any of this sounds like your kind of project, I'd love to hear from you! Feel free to reply here or reach out direct :)

Hi!
My name is Mohammad.
I’m a pixel artist and I also focus on storytelling.
I’m currently learning simple 3D design as well, and I already have ideas for this jam.
I’m not very strong in coding or music production, so our skill sets don’t overlap — they actually complement each other.
Unfortunately, I can’t log into my Discord account right now, so if possible, please contact me through email or Telegram:
PixelVoid9 (my telegram ID)
m7665457@gmail.com (my Gmail)
This is my first jam, hope that’s not a problem.
Hello,
I have a pixel font pack that you can use for dialogues in your games.
This pack includes 20 unique and attractive pixel fonts, with some of them offering different color variations.
All fonts come with bitmap files, and 13 of them also include TTF versions for general use.
https://nervecell-studio.itch.io/20-pixel-fonts (this pack is free)
You are welcome to use it in both commercial and non-commercial projects.
Wishing all participants the best of luck! :)
