Realising the Winning Loop is not defined in-game I added pretty much on one of the last steps a skip-intro functionality realising some people might replay. Glad you enjoyed, I expected this a bit too "hard" to actually play and enjoy - might have been a wrong assumption.

Thank you for your comment pufferfish! The whole idea was heavily inspired by science and how most of our nowadays plants happened to exist: By random selective breeding. The plant that survives persist. Until we humans found out we can combine bacteria and genes from different plants and crossbreed those to be even stronger and more resilient. It was enjoyable working on this!

Yeah to be honest, I was occupied for most of the jam time with another project for this jam as Visual Artist/UI Designer (The Last Seed) so there was not enough time to add onboarding. After all, you are a scientist in this scene ;) You know what you do, right? RIGHT?! :D

Didn't know they required so many answers and had so many question, just answered all "no" due to submitting 50 Seconds before deadline.

Enjoy.

Okay, this reads to me like a casual tower defense game but instead of upgrading random setting lore type characters it's plants. I cannot see the actual impact here, which you guys might trasnport through some lore perhaps. It suggest the big idea PLANTS vs HUMANS but does not offer any actual solution.

Seems fun and promising as a game itself.

This promises to be a fun little cosy game with a little mit of symbolism to the theme, yet I cannot see any mentionworthy impact or message to be delivered. This looks promising towards "fun" over "matter".

Great and amazing idea that already is happening in real life. Depending on the Scope and Gameplay this promises to have quite some fun times doing some good in a digital world while raising awareness. Hawaii may be just one example many other may follow.

Document does not offer any insights on the actualy game project though.

Interesting idea grabbing the problem by the root: Greedy Corporates and CEOs

This a tad bit off the charts with the idea, there is only a handful of interpretational possibilities to fit the theme. ALso I assume the scope might be waaaay to big! Telling such a lore AND make gameplay is quite a task to tackle. Good luck!

Do not hesitate to use a translating service if english is not your mothertounghe - I do that too :)

Regarding the topic: This is legit and currently important to talk about, yes, High Tech Progress is consuming a lot of fossil earth minerals and materials which will deplete some day. Besides this it affect greatly the surrounding areas plant and nutrients population. A very important topic to raise awareness about!

BUT: Planting seeds is not a valid solution for this problem.

The core idea nad concept seems valid.
Yes, Trees do filter Polution pretty well, a solid idea!

Yet from the document I couldn't grasp the Gameplay itself. Is this player in a TopDown View (Player WALK around), first person, 3D, 2D, Point and Click? But then there is mentioning of Tower Defense too. There are a few questions left reading the document.

As part of the team I cannot rate this one of course but having joined last I might still add a few thoughts:

1. The concept is great, I really like the overall game design idea
2. Solving puzzles in an interactive vivid world is what drives the immersion - also a great approach for a story based game
3. Deforestation is a topic with high impact, governments are already trying to fix this by adding Climate  Regulations that sadly are often abused being simply on paper and not fulfilled in reality. Theme A+
4. The Document is very well structured and gives an easy overview to imagine and understand the final product.

BUT:
This game does not offer a realistic solution. Or at least the impact of the suggested solution is not well transported. Especially having the fires as a major theme happening there is nothing to solve the problem throughout the game. It could help to give the "plant a seed" idea a bit more room displaying it does help to regrow healthy fields of plants and repopulate strolling animals.

The gameplay seems to be fairly obvious but as a preparation for a pitch (as example) you guys might explore the meaning, the idea and what you want to raise awareness for with your game.

But no need to tell, you know yourself there is not much info to work with here.
Good luck!

I personally enjoy this idea a lot.

Yet technically from the standpoint of a gamer to have fun I am missing a clear win and fail state. When do I know that I have won the game? When do I know that I did fail it? If there is an aim there should be some kind of "you won the game" possibility, since this game seems not to be a linear one, choice might have not much impact if the game doesn't give positive or negative feedback.

A solid and interesting idea combining Card Game and facing an Urban Problem that is pretty much solvable. One thing I can foresee here that may occur is that there is no real choice since the action cards are drawn randomly from a deck. This randomisation of possible actions may make the action feels not worthy - not due to player lack of skills but due to randomness.

As a suggestion to get more ratigns and reviews:
You can add links to the game describtion, this is usually where people see the Game, the Documents etc.

This one raises awareness for a topic that is pretty much impacted by industialisation. I think this is a worthy topic to talk about. Yet one thing is missing: It offers no approach ot a solution. Scope seems to be realistically possible.

One thing thought "The player with the highest total wins."
Does this mean it has an online scoreboard?

Fun game, enjoyable, a lot of potential! Good luck on further development.

Thank you - I am glad you enjoyed :)

To be honest, this is not my first jam, but my first project that Iwill not delete after the jam since it became quite good this time. In case you dare todive into a Pagan/Celtic/Viking Lore and embrace the roots of Halloween (Samhain) this game might be for you. It consist of 6 Puzzles to solve that are woven into the story and Lore of Pagan / Celtic / Viking Culture.

► Play SAMHAIN: Wrath of Wendigo ◄
SAMHAIN: Wrath of Wendigo

Pagan / Celtic / Viking Puzzle Game

If you are still playing some games from the jam, mine seems not be liked by the algorythm and gets burried, things happen when there are 1000 submissions. It#s a pagan cultural puzzle game. ► https://soultrailstudios.itch.io/samhain-wrath-of-wendigo (or the banner ↓)

Fresh and nobody shared their games? Whoah.
So, here is my entry, a Pagan Lore Puzzle Game. It's Samhain (historically and culturally the root of what we call today Halloween) and due to the beliefs of what happens on Samhain you are sent out into the forest ... and then thigns happen!

On a sidenote: If you also have create a lore rich game to dive into a different world, I'd be glad to play them too. That's kinda my thing to enjoy games that build a world around their gameplay.

Hi fellow Game Devs and Jammers,

for this jam I embraced the Lore of the Pagan Folks to formulate a game thatputs the focus on Lore, Story anda long forgotten culture. HALLOWEEN is rooted in the Pagan ccelebration called SAMHAIN - thelast day of harvest and the day when it was believed that the veil between SPIRIT and PHYSICAL world is the thinnest. On this day the Pagan Volks lit a huge bonfire and dressed up scary to scare off evil spirits.

In SAMHAIN: Wrath of Wendigo you are sent into the woods to encounter a spirit, the WENDIGO who is the guardian of the balance of the forests flora and fauna and he i not happy with the humans cutting down forests and trating the woods like it serves them, not respecting the need of balance.

Luckily the shaman of your village is with you and helps you to perform ancient rituals to soothe the wrath of wendigo. Solve puzzles designed around a mystic mix of viking and pagan runestones and beliefs to show Wendigo you understand him and know how to change to make him spare the people of your village.

I will be very happy and glad if you give this jump into a new world based on real life culture of halloween a chance and enjoy the puzzles. The game can be played: HERE.

See you there!
