Hey, isn't that the shrimp from Shrimpin' Around?

This is a really strong demonstration of small scope and high polish. Well done!

I had a lot of fun with this game! I love these types of simple yet challenging control schemes and the way you had to dance around enemies was great. The spin speed, dash distance,  dash cooldown, and invul times are nicely tuned which made the character feel responsive. Plus I really appreciate that you added the trail on enemies and the player.  Enemy AI was just the right level of complex as you're fighting against the controls and the way they die is very fun :) Otherwise, I've got a few specific notes I'll leave below:

  • One thing I struggled with was feeling like I knew when the player was dashing (and therefore invulnerable) or not. Having some visual indication of what state you're in would be very helpful. Something like a color/sprite change
  • Similarly, it's not clear when enemies are taking damage or about to dash at you. Although the latter way more minor given the enemy dash distance/speed, it's still very reactable
  • The constant chair rolling sound was kinda unpleasant
  • Having to destroy the empty chairs at the end of certain waves slowed down the pace a lot
  • The empty chairs were a bit too small to be interesting static obstacles. Having something more like 4-tile wide columns (or even bouncy bumpers) would've made the different wave feel more distinct
  • Having alternative inputs to the mouse click to dash would feel nice

In conclusion, I chair a lot.

Download 9-5 Degrees Android Version 1.1.apk on your phone and tap on the file after it's downloaded. You'll either see a notification or need to find it in your phone's file explorer. Proceed through whatever prompts follow and that will install the game. Thanks for playing!

GO! GO! GO! GO! GO! GO!

This game is snappy, kinetic, and exciting from start to finish. Amazing work! I really appreciate the placement of the danger indicators, it helps for keeping up with the game's speed

We're still looking, so feel free to reach out!

Edit: We've found our additional teammate. Thank you all for reaching out, and good luck on your Jams!

Hi y'all! I'm working with a team currently composed of 4 artists, 2 programmers, 1 sfx designer, and 1 composer. For this jam, we're interested in building a roguelike battler inspired by Dokapon Kingdom's combat system (with further adaptation depending on the theme). We're seeking a 3rd Unity programmer to help make this project a reality! If you're interested, shoot me a DM @brinsbane on discord and include your general level of experience and any prior projects/samples you're interested in showing off.

Hey, love the look of these assets, but I'm noticing that none of the textures are included in the zip. Any chance you could add them?
