How does the game fit the theme?
Bastard's Son is a narrative deduction game in which you have to figure out who your true heir is, while many of the characters appear to be liars and charlatans. There is a general sense that nobody is to be trusted.
What code and assets did you not make from scratch during the jam (if any)?
We used public domain images of 16th century and renaissance portraits, as well as a few sounds from freesound.org

The game was very fun! I love the visuals and the humor. Tip for players : Press SPACEBAR REPEATEDLY
Extremely creative, Well Done!
This was an amusing experience, to say the least. Visually it's fantastic and the dialogues are well written. I got the ending where the king advisor became the king and doomed the kingdom to darkness, so whoops.
Thanks for playing and for the kind words!
It felt like am in an escape room solving a puzzle, the vibe and aesthetic was really nice, the only problem i had is that there were a lot of information at the start and i didnt know i will get the chats at the end so i pushed my self to memorize everything so hard hehe.
Thanks for playing!
It felt like a lot of information to take in between each hanging, with no way to take notes in game. Otherwise, a super funny and entertaining little game with a ton of gems in the dialogue. The journal of our Lord falling in "love" over and over again especially gave me a laugh.
Thanks for playing! There's a little button on the execution order that lets you see a log of everything a character has said. It's still a lot of words to look through though. Especially with the journal entries.
This was a hoot and a holler of a game - I laughed so hard at some of the dialogue, the two below in particular:

Also the transition between days with the red silhouetted hangings cutting to “Day #” in fancy font with the organ chord - truly spectacular.
I really thought I had it solved based on the jewel one of them was wearing but alas I was wrong - the ending description was great though.
Kudos to the team!
Thanks for playing! Glad you enjoyed it.
I thought I had found my heir, but instead I brought my kingdom to ruin! I had a lot of fun, especially because of the art style and the choice of characters. I really liked the POV and the gameplay idea. The comedic audio makes everything even more fun.
camera control didn't feel the best, probably don't even need it for this type of game. so I played through and, basically you ask a question to 8 characters, try to figure out the trustworthy one and off a couple you think are the bad ones each round? I felt like there was too much info before i was able to make an actual gameplay choice. So a little slow for me personally, but i understand just how limited the time we had for this was.
Good vibe, good setting. would be solid with more time spent on gameplay.
That is just a banger. 5/5 all around. Everything clicks together really well. I just have a small gripe with the controls since the camera locks in dialog and it’s a bit weird when control is given back to it. Other than that, I loved it. Congratz!
Thanks so much for playing! Happy you had a good time!
I was rubbish at this, took me six tries to get the true heir. Still a fun game though.
Some of the clues are a little obscure. At least you got to see a lot of the endings! Thanks for playing!
That was great. Those graphics! I lol-ed multiple times.
I think a tutorial or at least a list of controls/interactables would have been helpful, I discovered how to do certain things halfway through a run.
Regardless I didn't pick the rightful heir :(
Thanks for playing! Hope you got a good ending whoever you picked!
