I didn't get this game at first, then I kept playing and it was really cool to get into a flow and just naturally discover the way you're supposed to play the game. Then I kept playing and got pretty bored, it really drags past the first 15 minutes. It takes way too many jobs to get to the end for how mindless the game gets.
Also, and this might slightly contradict my last point, but I didn't really like how closely the game followed your levels. I get that you still want to have some sort of challenge, and it did make me nervous a few times, but I was disappointed that there wasn't any sense of getting ahead of where the game expects you to be power-wise. The level requirements for jobs were either right at your current power level, one above, or just at level one. I wish there was some way to randomize it more interestingly.
Still really cool idea, and it was a really neat experience, even if only for the first 20 or so minutes.
We really appreciate you giving our game a go, and especially taking the time to write such detailed feedback. You pointed out some of the game jam flaws we noticed as well.
The level balancing was actually a very last-minute addition because the progression felt too flat without it. In hindsight, we should have randomized requirements downward as well, so being proactive between jobs and searching for more hacking scripts could actually let you get ahead of the curve instead of the game constantly catching up to you.
You're also right about the money progression. The number of jobs needed to reach the end should have also been balanced more carefully.
Thanks again for playing :)
i finished the game. it took 3 years and my childhood.
very good
maybe the if "jobs" gave more money over time, because it takes a LOOONG time to finish
but overall, i liked it very much
Hey, thanks for giving the game such a thorough playthrough. Glad you liked it.
The money balancing was very much a last minute task for us so def some need for improvements.
Very solid interface. The description definitely helps. Nicely done.
Was a bit bamboozled initially, getting stuck not knowing what to do, but the description definitely helps.
10/10 resizable windows, would resize again
It took a while to understand a purpose of the game and a fact that not all commands are available immediatetly. Some of them to be unlocked. Maybe a turorial would help a lot. Also the battery drained too fast. I hardly did anything and then I'm out. Last time I used command to buy a battery - it said I did it, but still nothing changed and 3 secs later "game over".
But still the game is cool and innovative for me! Thanks!
The interactable desktop is very well done! It took me a while to understand how to hack stuff, but after reading the description it was clear. But it seems like even by doing the hacks as fast as possible the battery drains very quickly, so maybe I'm doing something wrong. Very cool game!
Hey Critcop,
thank you for playing our game :)
Regarding the battery drain, you can always buy new batteries from the shop.
I adjusted the game description to make it more clear
