I really liked the enemy art and variety and the overall sense of humour in this one. And there are some neat little UI details like the close dialog button showing a countdown bar underneath.

The combat was fairly straightforward, and I liked the moving numbers showing damage, but I think a bit more feedback would've been nice. And the levelling made it a bit too easy after a little while, but in a jam I always prefer too easy over too difficult.

And regarding the levelling I think it would've been good to have the + buttons be green or red or some eye catching colour to make it more obvious to the player they can level up. Also some explanation of the stats would've been nice. If just Dexterity or just Agility were present I could probably guess what they do, but when having both I personally couldn't guess what the difference is.

The enemy art is great and all the enemies look distinct, and I appreciate having the stats shown (though the same criticism from the last paragraph still applies). The dungeon art however is frankly way too limited. There's no landmarks beyond locked doors, and the layouts were more confusing than interesting.

I think the game would've been improved by some more sound effects, even a basic punch sound in combat. Having just the background ambience being a low drone I think was fine though. With some other entries I would just mute the music after a while if it was too much of the same or too distracing.

I think the game's length is good, I appreciate shorter games in a jam like this with numerous long entries.

Overall, I enjoyed playing this game, good work!

I like the various enemy designs. There's a bug where enemies don't heal after you die, so getting past the bosses was ultimately guaranteed.

That was done on purpose (to prevent the player from getting hard locked if they lured the enemy back to the spawn). The bosses do reset though.
Thanks for playing!

Game was good, combat worked well but upgrades were unbalanced, and I could just use very high attacks to win most of the time.

Art for the enemies was good , the level art was good but replitive, everywhere felt the same so it was very confusing and easy to get lost. Maps would have helped or some landmarks.

Good work on the game overall was fun to play.

Very funny graphics! I included it in my compilation video series of all of the games from the Dungeon Crawler Jam.

Yay. I completed it!

The game plays very fluently and the combat is fast and snappy.

The upgrade system is a bit unbalanced I guess, since attack and vitality is the only things you need. I think you could go with only attack, but it might have you lose to much health in the end to win.

The graphics for the dungeon and the enemies are great and the music fits!

Great job!

I forgot to level up for quite a while, and I got lost on the second floor before I started following the edge.  It was a fun brisk game once I got going.

Nice game, fun writing, and I enjoyed the simple battle mechanics tied to that xp / leveling system. It feels like it was a bit broken if you put your stats in the right box, but I also don’t think that is a big problem for a game jam entry like this one.

For me the chainsaw guys were the most dangerous opponents, the bosses on the other hand quite easy to deal with. It seems mostly because of ability to hit and dodge being more deciding than amount of damage dealt if hitting.

UX wise, there was some text I didn’t get to read because it disappeared to quickly. It was a fancy button solution there, but there should probably have been a way to recall last message.

All in all a very solid entry.

Nice game! The chainsaw chicken enemies were kinda scarry!

Got the egg! Had to download it since for my monitor web version was a bit hard to read texts on (4k and texts were just a bit tiny for it), but other than that runned smooth!

Loved those sprites! Wish there would be sounds too though, it would spice up everything up for sure! Also bronse keys after silver? Unique thing for sure!

Very snappy movement and combat. Entertaining entry overall. Like another player, I was stumped until I noticed that I have stat points and then I became a chicken kung fu god.

Really enjoyed fighting all the different chickens. I was stuck for a while until I noticed the stats buttons lol. Nice job!

Golden Egg acquired!

Great little game with a fun game loop and nice graphics. The perspective and movement was perfect for me. Could not have been better!

Great job :)

This was quite well done. The variety of chickens were funny and well drawn, I like the style. The movement was great and fast with instant step and turning and a variety of stats to have some options while leveling. I got the golden egg!

Combat could use some more feedback to understand better what was happening (sounds, the sprites blinking or something), I think I was even killing some while backing up not realizing it. A minimap might be helpful too, the instant movement for me I tend to move quickly and got lost easily but I managed through it.

Minor complaints overall, good job on this one.

Gameplay here starting at 0:38 mark

The golden egg is mine! I had some trouble with orientation and got lost a couple of times, but I really like that the enemies respawned and gave me something to fight while I was looking for keys (I was level 20 when I found the golden egg, a real powerhouse). I had a lot of fun, I really like the simplicity of the gameplay and growing stronger and stronger until no one stood a chance... pure joy! This is the kind of fast, instant fun that I enjoy a lot.

I defeated Mother Clucker and got the Golden Eggs. And it was great! Perfect control and perspective, instant gameplay, stat allocation on level-ups and super cool chickens bumping into each other, you can go better than that.

The movement and controls felt very smooth and responsive. I would have liked to see a stat explanation in game or on the page after the start because I almost got soft locked from not being able to hit and couldn't remember if it was dex or agi to increase hit. Overall, well done!

Developer

There is a menu if you hit escape, but yeah I needed a button or some way to explain the stats better. Thanks!
