I liked so much. After dying 3 times I figured out how to play haha. So I could beat the game, very fun game, and I liked the visuals and soundtrack (nice 8-bit version to Moonlight Sonata), congrats!
Thanks I played it myself, and I used a converter to make it 8-bit.
Wow! Congrats for doing that, man!
Ok! That game was awesome! I really appreciated the aesthetics. I grew up playing old apple computers in my elementary and grade school classes. So the graphics reminded me of old game like Oregon Trail. I'm not sure that was intentional. But I thought the music was amazing! It sounded like a bit crushed Moonlight Sonata. And just everything from the presentation to the spanish I thought were really cool touches. I don't know why but having spanish made it creepier for some reason. lol I guess it's because you don't see it too often. I loved it! Awesome job!
Thanks for the feedback, it's based of the ATARI days or this little indie game called FAITH: The Unholy Trinity and uhh the language isn't Spanish...? I fell it's pretty obvious it's Latin??? that's fine though.
Good job! Loved the graphics. This game is HARD. I'm probably just bad though haha. The stamina system is a bit janky and needs some polishing, like when you run out of stamina you keep moving, and you run faster when you're running diagonally, you can fix this by normalizing the movement direction vector. Which in godot would be vector.normalize().
Great job! Loved it. <3
Thanks for the feedback! very kind of you to leave a fix, will use it!
Loved the style and to have a clear objective, it reminded me a little of slenderman if it were for NES lol! Great work and congrats on finishing your first jam!
Yeah! that's what we were going for, It's also very pick-up and play in nature so that plays into the NES inspirations
Love the Faith Aesthetic!! Really liked that game when I played it, so I was beyond happy when I saw this was just like it!
Thanks! I really appreciate you guys liking the artstyle, my artist is very happy
I love the esthetics of the game , i do have a lot of problem with the collision between the player and certain objets as it feels kind of unatural. Unless you use the AI loophole to make the deer run into buildings. I dont know how to outrun it. The vibe of the game was spot on , the 2 leg deer walking up on me for the first time gave me an uncomfortable feeling meaning you nailed it
Thanks! you are supposed to use the environment to your advantage to juke the deer, loved your game btw will support you in the future <3
you 100% nailed the FAITH/Atari aesthetic, loved the OG TTS voice. Only got to 2 parts (skill issue from my end, sleep depravation prevents me from having the reflexes to juke the monster) but it is a solid experience from what I managed to play through.
Thank's dude had a lot of fun with your game too! very polished. Yeah I nailed the FAITH asthetic and yes I know it is hard so yeah
This game was really great. I was able to get 3 car parts but not the last one but I think I know what the ending is.
Yeah, should add an asgore reference, Thank you though. btw lore snippet this place is a dark fountain.
Great job finishing your first game jam! You did a great job capturing the vibe of FAITH--the atmosphere is ominous and opressive, and I got flashbacks just hearing the voice when the game launched. The game itself though kind of loses its punch after dying to the initial jump scare, since it's pretty easy to trick the monster's ai into getting stuck on a tree. But it still got one good startle out've me, which is really all you need!
Replicating the simplicity of the ATARI days with this one, AI for enemies wouldn't really "Intelligent" per se they'd just be random.
Fun game! I really like the aesthetics and the sounds. Very good presentation.
The gameplay itself could be more interesting for sure, but overall not bad.
Thank you, yeah I feel like we nailed the artstyle. Gameplay is really just an ATARI game but whatever y'know.
I like it! Very aggressive deer. It seemed a little too aggressive at the beginning. Maybe you could make it start slower and get more aggressive the more car parts you collect.
The only other thing I can suggest is let all the car parts exist at the same time. Having to collect one to spawn the next feels a tad confusing and even a little unfair. "I already looked over there it won't be there." was a thought I had.
You nailed the creepy vibes tho, well done!
Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it. Yeah the parts spawning is the result of a "idk how to do that" moment. So yeah will improve.
ok that was eerie as hell.
I couldnβt find any car parts thoβ¦
Thanks we take pride in that, also that too...
got them today B-)
For a game as simple, it got my adrenaline going trying to escape.
yup that's the goal!
Simple and yet entertainig. I can see how you could work over this game with more posibilities to make something way more fun. The options to set up traps, hiding, ways to defend, safe zones, more monsters with unique mechanics, a story. Not only that. FAITH is inspired by religious horror movies like The Exorcist or Rosemary's Baby but you seem to try to have your game more reminiscent to forrest horror, the deer enemy reminds a lot of histories from the Apalaches so you can double down in that setting or horror vibe. Some issues I encountered are that the music didn't loop and that the monster gets stucked in the trees if you do it correctly. Aside from that, good job, you did a fun game and it has potential.
Thanks we probably will expand on this. My artist is very proud.
Game really reminded me of FAITH: The Unholy Trinity. I didn't manage to complete the game as it was a bit difficult, especially since I got stuck on trees and it was hard to find the car parts. Music is really nice and its a fun experience
Thanks and yes it is inspired as said the the description, trees are supposed to help with dodging the deer.
Probably one of my favorites from the jam! Amazing artstyle, fun and simple gameplay (even though I couldn't find the car parts lol) and a great use of horror. I can't wait to see what you'll make in the future!
Thanks, my artist is very proud of themselves. Yeah the car parts are hard to find but that's the goal of an 80's inspired game. TOP-HAT INTERACTIVE appreciates all the feedback we get and if ya'll wan't more, believe me we're ready to cook.
I really dig the nostalgic aesthetics of the game.
Normally chiptune makes my ears bleed after too long, but this didn't it was hella catchy.
The deer is really creepy and unsettling so you did a great job with that.
I also love how it's easy just to pick up and play without having overly complex mechanics to get your head around. I prefer it when browser games are like this; just a better experience in my opinion.
Amazing entry for your first jam game, congrats!
Thanks, I actually played midnight sonata and made it 8-bit just for this project! We did go for a pick-up and play formula to make it more fun and addicting...
Cool idea to make a horror game out of the concept to "start" a engine.
Artstyle and Music also nailed the atmosphere. The retro style make at seem like a cursed arcade game!
Well done, keep up the good work.
Oh thanks! I loved your game too, kept me playing for 2 hours trying to speedrun it!
Really cool game with a unique concept compared to other games submitted to this jam really got jumpscared when the deer suddenly dashed at me, i would love you giving my game a shot.
Thanks! And yes I will give your game a shot. Looks cool
fun game. very different to alot of the other games I played
Yeah, it's a very unique style and it's supposed to be like that!
