The idea is very unique and I loved the artwork, although like some people already pointed out, it would be great to have some more goals in the long run to make it more engaging. Great work overall!

Good idea for the game. I enjoyed experimenting with ways to make more profit.
If something I would like to see in the future it's long terms goals. After getting your first 1000$ you can buy anything. And there is not encouraging to upgrade more.
But as main game loop, it's pretty fun. Great game

Interesting game, it took a moment to understand how to get more for loops and how to upgrade the CPU. In all, a unique concept, I like it a lot!

Submitted(+1)

Took way too long to notice that I could upgrade the CPU 😭, maybe it would be better if I just select which type to put in the loop, and the next time it will pick automatically if it has at least one, having to drag and drop all the time was a little exhausting 😅, but overall really unique and polished game! 👍

Yeah that was suggested by a couple folks, and would have been way better in this context. Some of this suffered from a "should we make this a puzzle game vs a simulation" discussion too - whereas with a puzzle, you solve a specific thing with a specific amount of resources - and don't care about automation. We kinda landed midway and didn't do either with time lol. Thank you for playing!

Very creative idea, I had a lot of fun playing this. Good submission!

Programming and a chicken farm is such a bizarre combination that somehow seamlessly works here and I have no clue why or how. This game ate up a LOT of my time, I found myself getting super into raising all my clucks and cash, and before I knew it half an hour passed. Great work!

Developer

Thank you! That bizarreness is exactly what we were going for when cooking up this idea, haha!

Hey! I really enjoyed your game! The looping mechanic for items was clever, especially with the coding theme! The item art was clean and distinctive! This could easily become one of those addictive idle games!  Overall, great work and congrats on submitting!

I like the UI and I apprechiate vertical VS code toolbar :D

I played this for an embarassing amount of time LOL. This is super cute and well made. Very clever idea, fantastic take on the theme! The art and music are also wonderful :D

Really creative idea using the theme of loops!!! Loved the sound effects and art as well. Great job!

Hello I enjoyed your game! The idea of putting your items into loops was great, and only helped by the code theming. The art style for the items was also very clean and memorable , and there were a good collection of sound effects.  A few adjustments and i can see this game being another one of the entrapping idle games. If you added functions people never would be able to escape.  Only gripes would be the shop being completely random was frustrating when I wanted a certain kind of item and I wish elements would stay in the loop even if they were sold if there is more of the equivalent type. Great job on submitting!

Developer

Hahah yeah there's ways to expand on this - functions would be a neat way. I had a foreach loop going too, but that didn't get in due to edge cases. Buying these from the market added some roguelike progression elements to it. And re: elements staying in the loop you're right, a friend suggested that same thing after playing - makes more sense now in hindsight.

This game was such a fun twist on the incremental game genre! The artwork was incredibly charming, and I loved the chicken puns. I spent so much longer than I intended playing this game because I just wanted more chickens, always. It did take me a little while to figure out how everything worked at the beginning, though.

A few small things that did affect my enjoyment somewhat: It was a bit annoying that I could accidentally have roosters do nothing since they cluck by default. (Hillarious, though!) Also, once I filled up my lines with for loops, I couldn't switch or rearrange them without selling one, because they can't be dragged on top of each other. Part of me did also wish there was some way to more fully automate, though I'm not sure how that could actually be accomplished.

Overall, a really enjoyable game that fully stole two hours of sleep from me because I didn't want to stop playing, haha!

Thank you! A colleague suggested that it might be better to not have the numbers decrease from inventory and when you drag into the loop, but instead throw an error if there aren't any remaining to perform an action on. That way the same logic can stay on the board and be automated till you run out of resources. That's one way to approach this (if it was expanded).

Clucking was supposed to be pretty important but the lack of balance (since it's very easy to kind of upgrade the processor and never worry about clucks being a restriction) took away its importance mostly hahah. Generating clucks within loops would give extra resources for actions further down the line, but at 1 action/space cost. The roosters generate more clucks than the chickens.

Thank you for the kind words!

very cool details and everything solid. well done man!

That's a lot of clucks!

Very creative game! I like the concept of programming using chickens. Well done.

I must say this is great. I approve.  :)

I love the VSCode UI and overall this game is one of the most unique that I’ve seen so far. The design choices and elements are really good!

Wow, the creativity is through the roof with this entry! I love how you modified CPU and turned it into 'Chicken Processing Unit", and managed to create such a well-built, polished game within the time constraint of the Game Jam.

I want to highlight the art first, which is one of my favorite parts of the game. Out of all the games I've reviewed, this has had the best art. I love the cartoony, hand drawn style, and the entire game feels so consistent and flows so nicely. Usually, with idle/incremental games such as these, I really struggle to figure out how to play without a lot of tutorial, but this game's clean interface and intuitive gameplay loop were super easy to learn!

Sounds effects and music were good also, fit the games playful vibe quite nice.

My only issue was that it was sometimes difficult to click and drag what I wanted into the 'code.' I don't know if I was supposed to time it, but it only dragged like 30% of the time.

Honestly, I'm very impressed. This game has so much content, is brimming with creativity, and is so well made - all in 4 days too. Amazing!!

Thank you for the detailed review! There's no timing element here, and that dragging 30% of the time is very odd - not sure what's up with that (do not see on my end either). Maybe the web version is screwing up there somehow - I can upload a ZIP version later once it's allowed to upload again if still interested! But thank you for the very kind words (Pranjal will be happy to see the art comment!)!

We wanted some FTUE and handholding generally - specially with objectives to guide the initial bits (as well as create win conditions), but didn't have time so just decided to put everything in tooltips - was the cheaper solution.

I think this has the most possible depth out of the incremental games I've played in this jam. Really impressive!
