I really like this game. Loved how the emotional conflict was being told through both the story and the platforming stage. And the platforming was nice too, controlling feels precise, levels well designed, and it's just intuitive to play. Love this!
Love how the level of conflict in the story is reflected in the difficulty and visual style of the level. Tight platforming mechanics too, though I did not know about grappling upwards or diagonally until I figured out by accident halfway through the game. Really good game!
Im blown away by the art in this game, it looks absolutely incredible considering the short development time. I suck at platformers so i didn't finish the game but i got pretty far i think. The movement feels good to control but the grapple felt very inconsistent with the range, sometimes i could reach very far and other times it didn't go nearly as far so im not sure what's going on there. The story is nice at least as far as i played. Incredible looking game with decent platforming, well done!
Good work, new type of platform game
Wow! Mysterious, engaging, exciting, challenging, beautifully designed, no tutorials needed.
Just amazing. Congratulations to the team <3 <3 <#
Really cute game, I especially loved the soundtrack!
Did you make the music? It's beautiful. Also the game is just amazing all around, and I love the use of looping.
This game solves the problem of "should this be a puzzle game" or "should this be a platformer" - by making the puzzles be movement problems. Really well designed, great central mechanic for a precision platformer. Good job!
Of course I am gonna say the artwork is amazing, honestly it's beautiful. Strong Celeste vibes. The menu transition to the game, the screen transitions etc. lots of really got polish in this game. The Movement felt a little slow and clunky for my liking, but still pretty fun. I love how you're pretty looping over the same level, but it keeps changing in some way and adding new mechanics. Very well designed :)
Woah! This game made me feel things!
I had real fun with the gameplay and really loved the artwork and story.
Big fan of the grappling hook mechanic!
the art was fantastic, particularly in that opening title screen. The hook mechanic was also super neat, though i did get stuck at one point and couldnt find a way through the gap surrounded by thorns, overall a super interesting platformer with a lot of potential to go further into a full game. great work!
Very cool game. Was a lot of fun the only downside was janky pull mechanics would've preferred individual controls for aiming. because I kept dying of weird pull angles
Beautiful artwork! Also the game was so fun to play and it was great trying to work out how to get to some of the less obvious routes!
Amazing art! Really loved all the art, especially the start menu screen. It also sounded like you made your own music which is really cool!
The grappling hook controls were a bit janky at times, and bugged out occasionally.
Despite such a short loop you managed to introduce enough variety that it always felt new, really well done! ^^
Really fun game. The controls are a bit weird but the level design is built around it so it is fine. The pixel art looks great and the story is very mysterious
Hello this is my Review after playing the game.
Overall i found the game quite fun with only a few nitpicks that could've easily been ironed out if the time allowed for it.
Gameplay: Its simplicity made it very enjoyable to play and the loops only getting slightly harder and adding one new mechanic at a time letting the player learn as they go, i do wish there was a miniature tutorial in the beginning showing the omni-directional power of the hook (kinda like the binding of isaac).
Graphics: whoever made the artwork did a phenomenal job the game looks amazing.
Story: The story was simple with holes that let the player themselves fill it in. Cant really say much more than that im afraid.
Music: It was great, really enjoyed how it progressed over the loops.
Now for all the nitpicks.
The jumping felt very committed every time you did it because of the low amount of air control and the single use of the hook every jump even if you missed the hook. It was also quite difficult to aim the hook in the more accuracy bound segments which made it feel more like trial and error instead of a jumping challenge. There also was no output when you tried to hook onto a stone surface, a simple *plink* would tell the player whats going on immediately.
Some of the textures had minor errors like a rounded surface ending with a jagged edge or some textures didnt perfectly meld together so there was a visible line between them.
the music at times cut out and started playing again and when the song changes it just hard cut into it which felt somewhat jarring.
the story (as i've been told) is about a child with their parent growing up without their parent which to me didnt feel very obvious.
Solutions maybe
Make only hitting the hook make it go on cooldown, increase the aircontrol somewhat maybe
if you hold down the hook key it would make the lil guy spin it over his head and add a indicator of where it would land while also lowering his speed so you didnt have to time a diagonal hook sprinting at full speed.
Smoothing out the textures isnt something i have to tell anyone how to do.
Story. I think something that could've been done to tell the story slightly better was have different sprites for the lil guy as the loops progressed not only having the text and the music tell that story
That ends what i have to say really i do think that with enough fine tuning and extension of the game it could be a fun game to play on steam for alot of people.
thats me Tim done with the review. you guys did a great job in the alloted time and i think you fit the theme really well and i know the nitpicks section was longer than the actual review but they still are nitpicks.
Beautiful artwork. Good job!
I liked 16-bit graphics you went for!
Lovely game with awesome art! I struggled at first to get past the first obstacle without knowing about the hook, but it was a lot of fun once I found the key. The same level concept was great.
Incredible game with a touching story that I wish I could fully experience, unfortunately I can't beat it :( The controls feel hard to use--anytime movement keys are also bound to aiming something it's always difficult for me. I also wish shift wasn't the key for grappling hook, it's just a lot of work on the left hand.
Art is amazing, gameplay is amazing, story is amazing. 10/10 game jam game if it had more friendly controls and an assist mode for people who suck at platforming games (like myself).
