All code, music and 2D assets from me.

It's really cute  and impressive ^ ^ (go hit that 20~ hehe)

Developer

Thanks a lot!

Wasn't sure how I won, but I did. Nonetheless, it's the most technically impressive game I've played!

Developer

Thanks! You won by collecting more biscuits than your opponent, there's a counter for each character on the bottom UI.

Cool game, I feel it needs just a tiny bit of polishing on the controls part, they didn’t work until i clicked a ton of times.

Developer(+1)

Thanks, sorry for the controls, I'm aware of the issue.

Great work getting a whole movement system and board game style loop completed in such a short amount of time. The one thing I feel like that could've fit well into the theme is if each path was bidirectional, but going against the arrows reduced the distance the unit could move. That way it's even more of a risk-taking scenario. But otherwise well done!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback!

I thought a lot about bidirectionality, but ended up removing it because it took too much time to implement and from what I've tested it was allowing players to just stay defensive. Also it would slow the game as you would need to select a direction for each move and I wanted a faster gameplay. Though I like the idea maybe you could have some specific path where choosing a direction makes you lose movment points or something, it's worth the try.

Well done! It was very fun and the random units add a good strategy, expanding with maps and # of players could be huge.

Developer

Thanks! That's the goal!

Very cool game. I enjoy board game video games and this one takes the cake. Great job

Thanks for the feedback!

A party game with a roguelike twist. Very cool. I wish the controls were a bit more polished, sometimes it was hard to choose which path to take and clicking on the arrows didn't do anything, but overall a cool idea executed well.

Developer

Thanks! The roguelike side is not that much implemented for now, there's not enough units. But you got the idea, that's cool!

I agree for the arrows, I know how to make it better, I think it mostly needs feedback when you're hovering with your mouse, it would help a lot!

Wow what an awesome game! Didn't run into any bugs and the ai is very competent. The music and art are very stylized and fun. Great ideas on display and great execution. Well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks a lot! I'm glad you liked it!

Running my mind to plan moves was a good mental workout. As others have mentioned, a tutorial or some hints would make it easier to understand for first-time players.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I'll try my best to add something to help after the jam is over!

Very neat and nice game, I like the art style and smooth game play! Your game deserves more recognition

Developer

Thanks a lot, I'm glad you liked it!

Initially the mechanics seemed a little confusing, but after a few minutes of playing I managed to understand the gameplay. Perhaps a "how to play" would have helped with this issue. But overall very good execution, a lot of fun!

Developer(+1)

Hey thanks for the feedback!

Yeah I thought it was going to be understandable by playing it but for my next jamq I will at least add a short text explaining the rules.

Can knights not score? Seemed like the AI was getting tons of points with 1 biscuit and I had like 4 and was getting trounced. Not sure I understood what was going on at all. I think the concept is a solid foundation to build off of. I liked the character art a lot! Great work getting it together :)

Developer

I don't think so? I could not reproduce the bug.

Are you sure you were not the one winning? Maybe there was a data issue and your character icons were swapped?

Submitted

Ah that was it! I tried it again (Duchess v Chef) and the points were going to the wrong person, gave me the victory in the end. Then out of curiousity I played Prince v King and the points were in the right place!

Developer

Ok good to know, maybe data init error, it might come from the web build, don't think I can do much to fix that though. Thanks for raising the issue!

Submitted

I liked the design, also the sound effects are impressive. However, I didn't understand the game very much and it came a little bit hard for me as well but other than these, everything is awesome! Nice idea!

Developer(+1)

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply!

I would be very grateful if you could check out my game, thanks in advance.

Developer

I'll take a look

I liked the ideas, because board games you can play against a friend or an ai are always a fun waste of time. But, I think a few more in game tipps and hints would have been nice. I had no idea what I was supposed to do and it felt a lot like one of those mobile games where you just click the shiney thing on the screen.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Hey, thanks for the feedback!

I agree that a tutorial would help, I just could not make it correctly on time as the gameplay took me some time to balance correctly and I wasn't sure about how to implement a tutorial correctly without having to create a specific tutorial map.

I added as much as I can, I do agree that it is not enough though.

Submitted

fair enough. Just felt a bit too me that I was not interacting with the mechanics since I had not really an idea what I was supposed to do. So it is a bit hard to judge the game fairly by its mechanics unless you would play for a long time and figure out a lot of stuff yourself.
But I totally see where you are coming from, it is hard to make everything work nicely in only a few days!

so would be cool if you want to add a tutorial after the Jam for the final version.

Developer(+1)

Yeah I'll try to make it easier to understand after the jam I plan to add a few things here and there to make the game a bit better.

Submitted

Cool. I would really appreciate if you could check out our game too, it is called Madeleine and Biscuit and is about a young girl that tries to safe her pet dog from an animal shelter (if that is anything that interests you of course!

the area to click the pawn is pretty small to select. I think the game would benefit from a speed up though. overall the game was very polished in how it played overall. the music and sfx are great too. Shocked to see the options for opponents which is nice for a solo. gj

Developer(+1)

Yeah it's a thing I noticed, for some reason after building the area to interact with characters was reduced. I'll try to make a fix for that, maybe increasing it might fix the problem, maybe it doesn't work as well with webgl builds.

Submitted

I don't know how to play this. I picked my and the AI's character, then i chose a pawn, and then i just got stuck. I will give audio 5 stars, i will admit that it is very catchy.

Developer

Hey sorry that yiu could not play the game. I suppose you're talking  about the character action phase. At this point you need to select a pawn with left click to move it.

Also thanks for 5 stars I didn't expect much for the audio!
