I really enjoyed the atmosphere : the visuals, music, and sound effects all work beautifully together!

I did run into a small bug when hitting replay : after restarting, I couldn’t control the character’s movement anymore (I could still open/shut the umbrella).
The transition between the menu and the game felt a bit abrupt; adding a simple fade-in/fade-out could make it feel smoother.

Otherwise, it’s a beautiful game. Congratulations !

Fun little game! Liked the HUD, very juicy indicators.

To the bitter points:

  • In the menu when you click on the button an outline appears, a tiny detail, but can be fixed to make experience clear.
  • Special symbols and emojis does not display in a web build (Godot issue).
  • The wall of text start is usually not the best way to start the game, people now are really scared to read:) consider making it shorter, there is always the way to make the text shorter without loosing the main points.
  • There is a well know Godot web build issue here - when the new object with a new material appears in the scene, there is a notable stutter. Had the same my self, here is a good video on how to handle it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bgex_UmvJvM
  • Guess the umbrella could open and close twice faster, considering the other timings when you open or close the umbrella you most probably get hit by projectiles with the current speed.

Overall - good entry for a jam, congratulations!

Oh, and one more thing - to get to the game from the wall of text screen on have to press “Quite” button, which is frustrating.

I really wanted to play it! But unfortunately the game resolution is... Huge! Did you create the game adapted for a 21:9 screen? I'll come back tomorrow to see if the size has been fixed! Otherwise... I'm sorry.

Developer

Hello,

Since there were some problems with the resolution, I’ve now set a fixed resolution of 1280x720, so I think everyone can play it in the browser.
I hope everyone can try the game now. Sorry I only got around to changing it just now.
Have fun!

Best regards,
Denis

I finally got around to playing it! I laughed that you used Half-Life sounds for the footsteps.
Other than that, it's a really nice game! There are a few issues that I don't know if they're caused by bugs or my computer, which doesn't handle web games very well. Like the menu buttons, which sometimes take one input and other times not! Or the cursor counts them slightly further away from where I see them. Other than that, I had fun, really nice!

This was a really interesting game. I liked the art, music, SFX and lighting.

The browser window was too large for my screen, which is 1920 x 1600 resolution, but with no way to maximize the window, the web page elements crowded out part of the screen. Also, once I died and hit play again, I could no longer move, only shoot and block. It was unclear if the blocking mechanic was working, because the hit sound was the same whether I was blocking or not. Also, the pumpkins shot so fast it was really hard to block and shoot effectively.

This game is a very creative idea and has a lot of potential.

Hey — I just played TRICK ’n’ TREAT‑OPS Channel Sweetness and I loved your top-down shooter vibe — the lighting and shadow effects really stand out and give it a dynamic feel. The candy vs. ghost theme is clever and gives it that arcade-twist charm. One suggestion: the timer and ammo feel a little punishing sometimes, which drops the flow; maybe easing that a bit or letting the player recover more could make it even smoother.

If you’ve got a moment, I’d love it if you checked out my game and dropped a rating: /jam/gamedevtv-halloween-jam-2025/rate/3971977

— thanks so much and best of luck in the jam! 🎃

It's been a while since I've played a top down game from this perspective. Had a bit of trouble telling what was solid or not, but I really liked the lighting effects.  I ran out of time while playing with the street light 😂

Sorry, I think that's a data error. The window should adjust itself to the size. I chose a standard resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It adjusted itself to my Android tablet.

And many thanks to everyone who tested my game, thank you.

Great top down shooter, reminded me of Hotline Miami especially with the shadows blocking line of sight, i did not like the ammo or time system felt unfair at time maybe the candy could be used for a super attack and you can always shot basic shots? Great job

Awesome submission! Unfortunately the game's window seemed to be a fixed size and was way larger than my screen could see. Movement was a little glitchy, likely just due to the browser or my internet but seriously, awesome job here! I love use of shadows and light and your music was great!

Okay, should I even say that I HATE games with timers?

The game itself is a nice top-down shooter. It plays quite smoothly and looks good too, but it lacks impact from the shots and hits. Remove the timer, make the shooting feel punchier, and it would be fantastic. Great work!

Overall a pretty fun game, it's just that it's kinda clucky in browser. Pretty nice and really polished.
