for a game to be developed by only 1 person it is insane keep it up buddy
Really interesting game! The concept taking is nice and it has a clear understandable gameplay, fun to play against the licking aliens lol. Great work for a first game
Congratulations on your first game! It was pretty fun!
Interesting concept and a fairly decent execution at that! I liked the SFX in the game as well. Nice work!
First, congrats on your first game jam! The idea of the game is interesting, and the bird’s-eye view works well. Being chased by the weird alien creature that licks you is pretty funny, though not sure how the character got into that situation. The navigator (initally) and map help a lot with finding the key, which is nice since it gives clear objectives. Nice work!
If you get a chance, feel free to check out and rate my game as well!
I think this was very impressive for your first jam and for working on it solo! I love that you made all the assets, and the designs were very interesting. My primary feedback would be to guide the player to the next area as it can be unclear where to go next, especially since the map is so large
Great job!
Very interesting take on a theme, would love to have keys counter that you already picked up, and perhaps a way of leaving marks, so player could navigate a bit better. Enemy models are certainly impressive :)
Thank you for the feedback! Yeah i was trying to balance the difficulty, and it’s my first game jam. I see now with so many submissions, and people playing a lot of games, I should probably have had the arrow also point to the next key instead of making it level-dependent and having them discover the next biome.
love the alien model:D cool game
Thanks for playing!
It's not bad not bad , getting licked by alien hat is pretty original , I don't know if you made the hurt sound but nice voice acting .
Haha thanks! That is indeed my voice.
Hey! I really liked the concept for this game, especially how you could only see the navigator for a limited amount of time rather than it always showing. My main issue was that I consistently encountered a bug where after the first key my navigator wouldn't work anymore! So I had to try to find the rest blindly while avoiding the enemies.Every time I relaunched I had the same bug unfortunately. I was playing in Firefox which is recommended, so I'm not sure what the bug was exactly. But fun idea!
Hello! Thanks for playing and for the feedback. So that isn’t a bug, it’s intentional and mentioned in the description. The navigator is level-dependent. You have to find the next level before using it again. There’s also a map in the description.
Ah thanks for letting me know! Sorry that I missed that :)
I really enjoyed your ambient and monster sound effects. Mechanically you made some clever decisions, showing me where the keys were felt too trivial at first, but after dying once I knew I had to lock in - the pinwheels really screwed me dude haha.
Your good mechanical awareness has been hampered by the seeming lack of artstyle a little bit, not the worst thing in the world, gameplay is king afterall , but even something small like sticking to a limited set of colours from a predefined, cohesive colour palette online might go a long way. Try the website Lospec for colour palettes, its usually for pixel art and not 3D, but for a game with albedo only textures theres nothing wrong with that.
All in all I had an entertaining 4 runs, thanks for the experience :)
Thanks for the feedback! :D I started game dev two months ago and so just getting the code and mechanics right took me a minute, lol. I’m learning blender now though. Again, thanks! I’m going to go play and rate your submission now.
Thats really good to hear, hats off to you for making it this far. Thats an insane amount of progress for 2 months of learning, definitley keep going!
this feels like something straight out of newgrounds or other flash games site, the visuals are so weirdly nostalgic I love it!!
my time was 160 seconds :D
Thanks for the feedback! Glad you enjoyed it. That’s what I was going for!
The damage sound effect actually scared me so bad with my headphones in lmaoo. With just the use of the primitive shapes you made some really excellent and frankly creepy monster designs! Had a lot of fun! Congrats on doing your first Jam!
Thanks for the feedback! I had fun making the sounds for it lmao. And yeah, I’m still learning Blender, so I stuck with basic shapes and animations.
Cool game i read the reviews to figure out what i was doing wrong lol but i liked the damage sound effect
Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I moved the important notes higher up on the description since people are struggling with the navigator.
I liked the top-down view! I won't ask what kind of sticks the enemies had
Haha. Thanks for the comment!
At first I was lost about how to find the keys, but then I figured out how the navigator worked and that it was biome-dependant, and once i got that, it was a really enjoyable short game! I even managed to win. I would say that the stamina regenerators give a bit too few energy, but I get that it's a precious resource and it actually makes sense. I overall loved the experiencie and visuals!
Yeah. it seems multiple people have the same issue with the navigator. I made it level dependent and added the map so people don’t get too lost. Thanks for the feedback!
Cool idea. The navigatoor didn't work once I found a key, the energy also wouldn't recharge for me
Thanks for the feedback! The navigator is level-dependent and yeah the energy pickups only give you 25 energy.
Definitely a strange place to find yourself in! Fits the theme nicely, but my navigator bugged, it wasn't showing me the key position! I wandered a lot.
Thank you for the comment! Regarding the navigator, it only works on a level when a key exists. Once you find the key you have to move to the next level before you can use it again as indicated in the description. Also why I added the map.
Oh, now it makes sense, I will play it again then! Maybe having the navigator indicate the way to the next level when no keys are available would help other people avoid my issue.
Thanks! Yeah, it seems a few other people have run into the same issue. Probably would have made more sense.
