How does your game fit the theme?
(spoiler) At the end of the game, our character, who wanted to break free from her bounds that tie her to the world, discovers that the entire Universe was actually a cardboard box and that she got outside of it. I don't know if I explained it well, but the ending tells it better and without any words.

there is a typo in the intro cutscene, it said "very wish" when it should be "every wish"

Developer(+1)

Yeah I know.

Very cute art style! The puzzles were fun and I liked the character designs. Nice sound effects, too. Only thing is I wish movement was a little bit faster.

This was really well made! The artwork was nice and the characters were also well designed. The game did feel a bit slow at times, especially at the part with the moving platforms. Regardless the game was pretty immersive and I had a lot of fun playing it and interacting with the different characters, great job!

I loved the concept and it was fun

thank you!

The concept of going outside the borders of the game immediately hooked me. Haven't personally played a game that touched the concept since Fnaf World so this was fun to check out. I really like the diverse cast of characters designs, and the voices were really fun (the robot one made me laugh)! Do all these characters have names btw I'm so curious?  Ngl the music in the intro was so good I took a minute to just listen to it and accidently missed the beginning text not realizing it was automated (I restarted the game though to catch it so it all good). The sound effects were very immersive as well.

I liked the sprinkled in references! Is this game also perhaps inspired by the YouTube video "Elain gets Adopted" by Gooseworx? The main character and end sequence of your game reminds me so much of it.

One bug I did come across is that if I give a character the wrong item (Did it out of curiosity for possible flavor text) the game soft locks you in state where you cannot move. Not sure if this happens across all characters but this happened whenever I gave something to the character that gives the nails. I had to restart from the beginning which could be a game killer for some. Both of the open book items look quite similar in the inventory so I worry this soft lock occurrence may accidently happen when a player is doing the book quest but haven't tested it. Overall, this game was really fun to check out!

Developer

That's strange I tought I solved this problem, gonna see that right now. Thanks for playing!

Developer (1 edit)

Normally when you give the wrong item it just triggers a specific dialogue. I tried it and nothing special happened. Did you click on the inventory icon after clicking on the give item button?

Btw the characters don't all have names. Here are all the names I gave them, try to find who is who: ShrodCat, botanist, knight, ticket guy, robot, reader, trapped spirits, happy mask, sad mask and Jackbox. Sir Elrick is the only one with a real name.

Submitted (1 edit)

Yeah, I clicked on the inventory item after clicking the give item button. It happened whenever I got the nails from Happy Mask and then tried to give the nails back to Happy Mask out of curiosity.

Developer

That's really strange, it works completely fine for me and you're the only one who told me about that. I guess we'll never know what exactly this problem is.

Submitted

Strange, I just open the game to check it out again too and it's not happening again. Have no idea how it happened the first time then

Developer (1 edit)

Well, that was a one shot bug I guess

I used to love point and click adventure games and this one has a nice feel to it. Hoping you keep working on it after the jam!

Submitted(+1)

Really pretty game. If I enjoyed point and click I'd probably really like this one

I really like this game! The character design is amazing and the ending sequence is quite beautiful, especially the music. It reminds me a little bit of ENA Dream BBQ. The only thing I can say that I found a bit weaker was the movement being a bit slow. Other than that, the game is great!! I especially like how the camera moves when you go in and out of areas.

Developer

Yeah, I watched a full tutorial on how to use tweens just to make the camera movement but it was really worth it.

Very cool aesthetic and premise - The characters really stood out to me as a highlight, such cool surreal designs!

I would have liked to walk faster I think and have a dialogue skip button, as well as more puzzle type things rather than fetching :P

The intro music when you first start the game was really really good, and i liked a lot of the sound design, as well as the dialogue noises were funny.

Can tell it was made with love!

Developer

Thanks!

i enjoyed your game, it was pretty slow paced though, but still enjoyable. the artwork and audio are amazing, especially that song in the intro after you press start game in the menu. all you need to do is make the player faster and make you able to skip dialogue. all the puzzles are hard enough where it isn't too easy but not frustrating, which is a really hard balance to get which you did perfectly imo. you made a really good game!

Submitted(+1)

i'm so sad the final platform (i think the final platform) just kept moving off-screen forever and I wasn't able to get an ending. Like others said, I wish you could walk faster and that there were less platforms in the third level. Art & character design was so good. I craved more puzzles and less fetching, like getting the ticket in the beginning.

THE ARTTT!!!!

im a huge gooseworx fan, and the art scratches that itch perfectly - and that's not even just because of the character design. this whole experience radiated that energy and i really liked it. the voicelines were genuinely sick too, loved the aesthetics entirely.

Submitted(+1)

The art and characters were really charming and I can tell a lot of love was put into this game. Great job!

Developer

Thanks! I played your game and it's pretty fun too!

Submitted(+1)

I like the main characters design , reminds me of the amazing digital circus.

Submitted(+1)

really enjoyed the art, story, and general vibe/atmosphere of this :D the only thing id suggest is maybe making some parts of the game a bit faster and having the option to jump to the end of the currently spoken sentence, but other than that, nice entry!

Developer

It's my first time doing a dialogue system. i wanted to add it but didn't know how to. If I had the time, I would have probably added this option.
