Nice! I liked the mechanic of having to build up speed to make higher jumps. I also like that the player's movement was a bit slide-y, made the platforming of it all more challenging. Good game!

The level was designed really well. Every screen seemed to be unique. Lots of interesting jumps to make... and a scary Godot. It's really fun

Developer

thanks for pointing out the screen problem and I think I have fixed.

I liked it! Quite a nice little platformer for your first time. The jump animation tween on the godot icon looked nice and the phase change gave me a genuine " Oh shiii " moment.

Nice work, you should be pleased!

It's a cool game. Character is slippery but I personally like that, makes the game challenging.

Fun fact: I used the same SFX of the coins for a game of mine. I recognized it when I heard it.

(Why killing Godot? :(  )

I'm overjoyed that you decided to go head first into game jams for your first projects involving game development. Nothing is obviously broken which is good. For something where your jump height is dictated by how fast you are running, I highly recommend having the ability to change the speed you are going - as of right now your only movement speed is flooring it, which works for longer platforms but for a lot of jumps (like the clouds) it can make the controls a bit cumbersome when trying to make it across while avoiding bullets.

If this is your first game and you got it to the point where you were able to make a submission with it on a game jam, that's great! I remember my first few game jams were complete flops and we failed to get submissions in, so keep up that momentum!

For your first game its pretty good, I like the speeding to jump idea but I feel like the controls are a bit too sliperry but overall nice game.

If you have time, you can check out my game:/jam/godot-wild-jam-93/rate/4585241

I made the player less slipery but I still left a little bit of slipery feel to the player

Cool game, congrats on making your first! I managed to get 239/272 coins, the last ones during the escape sequence seem tough!

Developer

thanks!

Really good job for your first ever game! Controls felt smooth, and I was surprised by the boss fight! Great use of the scale property to add juice to the Godot logo's bounce :D

Out of curiosity, are you following the Brackeys tutorial? That's how I started with Godot!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

yeah I followed that while making this game, so I actually made 2 games in this game jam but the tutorial game was only to learn the basics

Nice & challenging! Speed affecting jump height made for an interesting challenge. It might be nice to add some coyote time to the jumps (let the player jump right after they've technically left the platform), to make it feel more smooth when you have to run on a tiny platform to make a big jump. Well done!

Developer

thanks, I will keep that in mind for the next time thanks for the advice

Developer

thank you, I added the coyote jump time and think it was such a good improvement. ty

Cool game! Couldn't quite make it past the Godot boss, but had fun having a couple goes. Excellent job on your first game!

Developer

thank you! I also really enjoyed your game.

Nice work well done for your first game and jam!  Great choice to start with a project and actually finish it before the deadline.   That alone is a huge success.  Enjoyable play well done

Developer
