Fling, Crash, Fling, Crash, Fling, Fling ... Crash! Pretty much sums up my attempt to play.
I like how it works, it could do with some audio, but otherwise it is a pretty good game.
Coconut is very cute!
I really sucked at this game but I eventually beat it. It was fun and frustrating at the same time, which is a good combination. A very clever and unique take on the theme. Great job!
Nice hedgehog. Coconut made the whole thing worth it. ❤️
For a first game, this is a pretty novel concept. I like that you didn't just go with something that everybody does for a early project, like Snake 😅 What I mean is that this shows real creativity. I liked getting into the swing of the slingshots, and then realizing later there was actually a bit of puzzle-solving on top of the mechanical skill required in choosing the order of planets. I did eventually realize I could slowly detach from an orbit ring and just steer my ship to the next planet, or even back to the one I just left, which removed a good portion of the challenge. One solution to that would be if the player's steering while not in orbit was limited or disabled. All in all, it was fun to pretend to be an astronaut sling-shotting my way around the solar system 🚀next time - you're not allowed to skip audio. I forbid it!
Thank you! Coconut's a darling.
Disabling the steering/acceleration outside of orbit is interesting. I'm worried that it might make it even harder than it already is, and it might make certain kinds of maneuvers impossible, but it'd definitely make for a more unique gameplay. Good idea, thanks! I might add it in after the hackathon.
The idea is very good, the bounciness looks awesome. I am very bad at this game and waiting for the menu on death to try again feels a bit long when i die a lot :D
The mechanics are very cool. The bounce is just right for a fun experience. Nice Job!
I feel like this mechanic would get really fun once you get the hang of it. I might have to come back to this later and try again. Neat idea!
Very interesting mechanics in this game. I enjoyed playing it
Nice game and very interesting gameplay. It took me several tries to get used to the controls.
That was quite difficult for me, I could not remember boost is not space, lol! Great fun! Great game!
Took a few tries to get used to it, but a pretty cool idea. Feels like doing slingshot manoeuvrers around planets. Good job!
Great mechanic, excellent jam game. I'd only recommend making your starting levels a little easier to get players used to the mechanic, but that's really minor. Very well done!
Controls were hard to get used to and it took me a decent amount of time to reach the end. But the level design was very good with a smooth difficulty curve, and the overall experience was interesting enough to keep me hooked until the end. Good job!
That was cool! You need to get used to the controls at first, but then it gets pretty fun. Simple, straightforward mechanics, but really satisfying!
For future updates, you could think of adding something like gravitational fields to distract or hinder the player. Or maybe levels where you can drop below 0, resulting in an instant lose, or adding things like bombs, etc.
Great job!
I was LOCKED IN! Great game! 5/5 Pinball style start is a nice touch.
I love the mechanics! After recently watching Project Hail Mary, it was even more fun pulling off my own slingshot maneuvers :D
Thanks for playing! And I'm just now realizing with your comment that "Slingshot Maneuver" would have been a much better name.
Nice approach to the theme!!
I didn't know what to do at first, but it became clear soon, the controls are smooth, the visuals are good enough, i like the animated curved lines around the "planets", adding gravity towards the planets was also a good idea, I wasn't too good at the game though but I enjoyed it :) good job!
Thanks! Also, great job again on Chain Walkers! Of all the jam games I've tried, yours is the one I've been thinking about after, specifically thinking "man, I hope that gets made into a full game so I can play it!"
Thanks that means a lot, good luck! :)
Interesting cool game. It took me a minute to understand what to do, but after that I was able to play it pretty well.
That's a good point. I wonder how to best teach players how they're intended to move. Do you think it'd help if there was an example NPC ship in the first couple of levels showing them how to slingshot around the planets?
Really idea, needs a little work to get the controls working but looks really good and the static/gravity works well!
Good job, really intresting interpretation of the theme.
The controlls / physics works very well.
