The main character moves insanely fast, too much imo. But once you get used to it, it's actually fun!
That was a bit too fast for me, I think it could be toned down a little (getting to the exit was difficult). But i do get the game play you were hoping for, which was suppose to be fast and filled with movement, and i can see that in the layout design (large open spaces to run). I guess it wasn't designed to be played "traditionally" ie continuous press to move, but instead in bursts ie short key presses?
Nevertheless it's a nice execution to the theme for sure. The visuals and audio were good and so was the UI layout. Good work to the team!
Very chaotic game but pretty fun. It's kind of hard to control and fight, and most of the times I die is when I get body blocked by a bunch of enemies.
I don't think I've ever played a game where I was going that fast, but it wasn't a negative thing haha, just shocking. It was fun and the music made it even more chaotic. I just got stuck at Level 4, even though I got only damage upgrades, I feel like Level 4 got VERY hard and I feel like I didn't do a lot of damage. I also noticed you dont really have invisibility frames? Or maybe its just that enemies can hit you all at once, because I got surrounded a couple times and just INSTANTLY died
The artstyle and Music was so good! :D Would have loved different colors on the enemy to figure out beforehand if they were tankier or instantly perish from the wrath of my blayduuu *quack* Also starting with 0 dps is wild if that was no bug xD
Great game, enjoyed it <3
I was really surprised by the speed at the start of the game (definitely made me laugh at first). By the time you get used to it, though, it can feel really good. It really grew on me the more I played. I do wish there was a little bit of magnetism on the potions/upgrades, though, since (given the speed at which you move), it can be hard to line yourself up precisely with them.
Combat ends up being frantic but very fun, though i wish I had a bit more control over where my sword was going (at times, I knew where I wanted it to be but I couldn't figure out where my cursor was to orient it in the right direction). To me this feels like it wants to use twin-stick controls with a gamepad, which I think could feel really good. The upgrades feel good, too.
Music and art are killer (the protag here might be my favorite sprite of the whole jam). My only critiques graphically are that I feel like there's opportunity to juice up enemy hits/kills. The biggest place I felt this was when I died; when that happened, the transition back to the start of the level was fast, which is great for diving right back in but was kind of startling. I think a quick death animation and fade or pan or something would help make that transition less jarring.
Sorry for the nitpicks. To be clear, I really liked this game! I had a blast playing it. Great work!
Really exhilarating experience, didn't know ducks could go that fast. At first I was a bit apprehensive about the speed, but as soon as the first level started playing I understood that the speed was absolutely necessary. Really fun! Might come back later to play some more. I will become the best duck!
Oh hello!! I've seen you before on ScoreJam 37, Rough Goalkeeping. I've submitted S.O.C.C.E.R.
Glad to see you again and thanks for playing!
It's nice to see you again too! Good to know that we're both still here doing what we love !
I mean it's really good, but the speed makes it too caotic. The music was very good and the art aswell. didn't really had to spin
Oh man, I was not expecting to go that fast! Fun little gameplay, but I might've preferred a tad slower on the reaction of the WASD movement. It was just chaotic trying to fight sometimes or pick up a health potion while fighting. Still, the music did reflect the chaoticness of it. And the style worked.
Possible bug? I couldn't get more skills after the first one.
Cute concept! I was just trying to play with my keyboard for a while and figure out how to move the sword🤣 I got it though and had fun!
Not wrist fatigue for me, more like my fingers are burning since I play on trackpad. Now I regret not having a mouse. BUT this was one of the most enjoyable games I had on this jam: VERY fast-paced, the kind of combat that rewards the player for just going for it, which is how it should be done. Noticed that damage is calculated based on speed so instead of swinging the sword a lot you can swing it slightly while moving and aiming. It's stuff like this that makes you feel like a real swords master. Also tell whoever made the music that it friggin slaps. Always been a fan of hip hop and rock 'n roll x shamisen or whatever traditional instrument you had there.
This game gave me the rush of 2 flat whites in one cup. Great job at instilling the feeling of urgency in any move and direction you take. Wouldn't change a thing, very well done!
Fast-paced gang is growing
Maybe game is a "little" too fast, but man, it's a blast). It's a wild game with an absolutely awesome background track. The pixel art looks great, too, and I love how the camera zooms out at the end of each level. And it feels like my wrist is hurting a little, but I had a lot of fun
Thanks for playing. Wrist fatigue is realll
I can't pick thing up for the life of me. Very funny duck with sword.
Everything looks great, and the game is really fun. It just felt a little too fast at times, but other than that, it's really well done. Great job!
I LOVE the music in this game. This game definitely has the best sountrack of the jam in my book. The gameplay was pretty fun, although sometimes I feel like the duck moves a little too fast, and I was struggling to find a consistent way to hit enemies and do a lot of damage. I tried waving my mouse around, but after a while it made my hand cramp lol. Still a really fun game, and I think there's a lot of potential! Great job :D
This was really fun! I did have a lot of times where I had to play it safe just to survive, and that's not nearly as fun as running around stabbing everything you see. Maybe you could implement some kind of risk/reward mechanic that encourages a faster playstyle?
This game is really fun! Took me a bit to actually get good with the combat, but the concept is amazing, The speed is a bit too much for me but it still was amazing!
There is BLOOD/GORE in your game and it VIOLATES The jam rules. THIS IS VIOLATING.
I love the Duck character. The idea of him flapping a sword around is adorable.
The speed, however, is a little too much for me. I found it frustrating to try to collect pickups or even go through doors.
This has the bones of an awesome 'Hotline-Miami-like' game.
