Fun game! I think the length of the game was perfect, the map was designed nicely to have routes for turn optimization and shortcuts not along the given path (especially on the third level). Though I think the camera zooming in the beginning of each race could be reworked or removed, it was a little jarring.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I definitely added more shortcuts as time went on. Good to know that the camera zooming in was a little jarring!

Loved the Game! Controls were extremly simple

Developer

I'm so glad you loved it!

Submitted(+1)

Nice idea, liked the simplicity of 1 button!

Developer(+1)

I decided two days in that I was going to commit to one button whether it ended up being a good idea or not. I'm glad it was a good idea!

I really liked the idea, controls, and music. It kept me entertained for a while haha. Very original way of spinning to win   too!  The first racing game I’ve played in the jam!

Developer(+1)

Thank you - the music was originally a placeholder, so I'm glad you like it!

Submitted(+1)

I like how it incorporates a spin element when changing direction. It was really fun! I managed to win the gold medal :-D

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing - congrats on the gold!

Submitted(+1)

Nice idea. I didnt expect a car racing game in this jam, you prooved you can make a good racing game. Good job! ;D

Developer(+1)

Thanks - I was worried that a car racing game would be too generic, so I'm glad that you didn't expect it!

Gg, I got sub-40 on the first level, but that's as far as my skills carry me because I can only get gold on the other two. Very cool simple controls, I like games with consistent timing.

Developer

Thank you!

Submitted(+1)

I loved the controls! I think it was a really smart way to incorporate the theme, and like someone else said, it's easy to learn but hard to master. It's a fairly simple idea but incredibly creative and well-executed.

Developer

Thank you so much - I spent a few days fidgeting with the controls, so I'm glad you like them!

Fun racing game. I love the use of "spin" in the mechanics. It was very well implemented, the speed of spin and the way that it moves is just enough for it to be challenging. Going up was a challenge. would love to see more levels in this.

Developer

Thanks so much! Your feedback makes me glad I added at least three levels - up until the final day, there was only one

Submitted(+1)

I had fun playing your game, the honk was great, and I loved the faster music on harder tracks

Developer

Thank you!

Submitted(+1)

I had to bump up the enjoyment rating after trying the honk. XD Great little time trial racing game, I also had a lot of issues with the camera (web, Firefox) - pretty sure it was to do with approaching certain sections of the track (almost like it thought the car was somewhere completely different?). But still managed to get through the game and enjoyed the other parts a lot, good job!

Developer

Haha thanks! I'm glad someone appreciated my hard work with the honk.

Good to know you had camera issues as well - I'll try the camera on a non-chrome browser. When the camera went wrong, do you know where it was relative to the car (e.g. where the car used to be)?

Submitted(+1)

It jitters a bit too fast to tell (I think it went up and left?), I tried to record my screen to show it but now it's not happening! XD I had some lag issues earlier today, so maybe it's only when that happens?

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

Haha well thank you for trying! I'm thinking the frame rate is the problem - my current theory is that I accidentally had the camera lag one frame after the car, and I just didn't notice while testing, since my framerate was consistently high.  I'll have to dig into the code to see for sure, though!

Developer

Yeah I’m 90% sure that’s what happened now. I made the camera a child of the car, completely forgetting that (to my understanding) child nodes are processed before parent nodes in Godot. And then the custom offset code was absolutely set to process before I moved the car each frame.

Very creative use of the theme, kinda fun learning how to time the rotation

Developer

Thanks!

Submitted(+1)

The funnest main mechanic I have seen in the jam yet, totally encapsulates the theme and is super reusable as a one button command. I would like if the timer ticked at half speed when you are in the "spin" state but other then that it is awesome.

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much! I really like your idea of slowing the timer as you spin: that way it feels less punishing to charge up a boost.

Submitted(+1)

This is a cool game, simple to understand and difficult to master. Though I wasn't totally sure what I was supposed to do with the attack

Developer

Thank you, that was the goal! The spin-attack is definitely an artifact from early on, where I planned to have obstacles but didn't end up programming them. I tried finding another use for it, but in all honesty it was probably best to either drop the mechanic or keep it as a surprise for anyone who happened to activate it.

Cool nice lovely!! Took me some time to get used to spins, then i pulled my inner twisted fate (iykyk) and it got easier!
Last level can be cheesed af btw

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yeah the last level was meant to have shortcuts to encourage the use of spin-attacks (which keep your momentum over mud), but after reading this comment, I tested the shortcuts while driving normally and still got a gold. So I would agree that it can be cheesed AF. I probably should've blocked the shortcuts off more and made the spin-attack go a bit longer - good to know for next time!

The game has ALOT of potential, but for some reason, THE CAMERA IS TWEAKING OUT, LIKE WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THE CAMERA

Developer

What’s wrong with the camera it’s the first thing I programmed and by this point I’m too scared to touch it 😳

Submitted

ITS REALLY GLITCHY, like, its heavily shaking, and stuff. its hard to explain. The best i can explain is that its LIKE REALLY SHAKY, like it wont stay with the car, it shakes ALOT AND STUFF. thats the best explanation i can give

Developer

That's odd! I'm curious if it has something to do with the framerate or being on the web. The camera works perfectly on my computer and then when I play it online, it glitches at the very beginning but is fine otherwise. I'll keep this in mind when testing future projects, thank you for letting me know!

Submitted(+1)

Yo this is so fun! Love the movement system and the levels

Developer

Thanks!

Quite fun, fast paced and exciting.  Trying to improve my own time was a fun challenge while trying to get the gold medals

Maybe consider adding a left hand turn so you don't have to wait the full circle to make the lefthand turn

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I spent a while trying to figure out if I wanted to do a left hand turn or not, and I’m still not sure if I made the right call - I’ll keep thinking on it

Developer

Before rating the seriousness of this game, remember: car theft is a very serious crime. As the piracy ads say, "you wouldn't steal a car."
