Oooh! A Tetris-like game. Once I figured out the gimmick of clearing things in rings, this game became a whole lot of fun. Also being able to move your piece makes way for a bit of strategy. I do wish that there was a "quick drop" option, and indicators such as which piece can be rotated and where it will land. I like this!

Developer(+1)

Hi, thanks for playing and for the feedback!

Check back in tomorrow as I've already implemented the quick drop function as well as a ton of settings and other quality of life things! I might even have the 'phantom' tile implemented by tomorrow to show you where your piece will land :)

Thanks again!

Ooo, this is a good one. Usually not huge on random tetris variants, but this one really clicked (especially when I realized that you clear rings. Being able to move around gives the game a lot of depth and makes it a lot more engaging to play. The game also has a really nice difficulty curve. It starts off quite slow (which originally bothered me, but it was fine once I understood ring clearing) but gets hard fast.

One suggestion I have would be to have two buttons each for rotating the center tile and the incoming tetrominos. There are a lot of times I'd press X to rotate the center tile in the other direction and end up rotating the tetrominos instead, or vice versa. If we're keeping arrow keys for movement, maybe map Z and X to rotating center piece and A and D to rotating the falling pieces.

I also think the music would benefit from a little more energy. The classic tetris theme has has a lot more gusto to it; would like to see something similar here.

Great game all around! Didn't expect to like this one so much

Developer(+1)

Hey thank you so much for your comment! I haven't considered adding two buttons for both the shape and the center core. I like it! I'll definitely try it out and see how it feels. Also, about the music. I agree! I am working on moving away towards the current music as is but want to keep a chill vibe, just more energetic than what is currently there.

I think something like the Balatro track would work well for a game like this. But currently, I'm just exploring options.

Thanks for playing!

Woah love this game. I love tetris and this feels like an amazing twist (or spin) to it. I just wish there was a way to speed up incoming blocks. This was a great game! Good job!

I love tetris and this is one of the best twists to tetris I have seen. And the game over music really got me in the feels.

Developer

Aw thank you! After the jam period, I'll be reuploading the game with some additions and improvements I've been working on so come back to check it out then.

The gameover song is literally called 'sadness' in (I think) french lol sorry I got you in the feels though!

Submitted(+1)

I specially loved the music and the theme implementation. A volume setting would have helped as well

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, I think a few settings in general would be helpful. Thanks for playing!

Pretty cool game, didn't know what to do at first but eventually realised it's like Tetris. Overall a really solid game, I only wish there was a way to speed up incoming blocks like in the original Tetris, but even without that feature still enjoyed it a lot!

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, it seems like the speed up is the most requested feature/gripe that people have. Definitely going to add it in after the voting period ends!

I appreciate you playing!

Genuinely had more fun playing this than the original Tetris!! This is such a creative spin on the concept!!

Developer

Thank you so much :D I'm glad you enjoyed!

Really mind-bending twist on Tetris, nice job! It would be really cool to have a button to fast-drop the closest piece. That could make the game feel faster and more satisfying to play.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I agree, I'm going to add that in after the voting period is over!

Really creative idea. Loved it so much.

Developer(+1)

Thanks :) I really appreciate you playing!

This made my tiny, smooth brain hurt!  But in a good way :)

Really interesting take on the theme and on the classic tetris formula.  I had fun with this even though I'm terrible at it.  Super cool idea, and I love that it's just a simple idea executed well, rather than trying to tack on a bunch of stuff.

The sound design, music, and graphics are also on point.  Nothing fancy, but I actually appreciate the simplicity, and it definitely scratches that 90s-nostalgia itch.  One thing I might have liked is more visual feedback when a ring disappears (maybe briefly highlighting them before they disappear or something like that), but that's a nitpick.

All-in-all, this is a really great jam entry, and one that I could see myself coming back to and recommending to some of my Tetris-obsessed friends.  Also, love that this was made in LÖVE :)  Great work!

Developer

Hi thanks so much for playing and for your feedback! Sorry I made your brain hurt haha

I 100% agree with your nitpick! I think more visual cues in general would really help here.

I love using Love for jams! I don't know how folks use it for large releases though. Managing a large project without an engine makes MY brain hurt lol

wow i never think about tetris from this aspect. Very clever. Very nice approach to genre. You've integrated your idea into the game really well.

Developer

Thank you!

Submitted(+1)

It was a bit challenging, but I liked this new way of playing Tetris! The use of spin to win theme was very creative here! Also controls worked fine and music caught that nostalgic style from the '90s! Great work!^^

Developer

Thank you so much for playing! I appreciate the kind words :)

I love this concept so much! I had a lot of fun playing it and honestly I think I you should expand it into a full game, provided that you don't use the Tetris name (unfortunately it's trademarked) 😭 Really good job!

Developer

Hi! Thank you so much!

I have considered expanding it since so many folks seem to like it. If I did, I'd add some game modes, lean into a more chill experience, and do some fun visual and audio stuff like tetris effect.

Really wish I could use that tetris name for marketing though haha. I appreciate you playing!

Submitted(+1)

Absolutely love this! It has super fun and satisfying gameplay, a really creative and well executed idea, and responsive audio that provides great feedback to the player. I love a good round of Tetris, and this is such a satisfying and interesting twist on that formula. Definitely one of my favorite entries so far.

Developer(+1)

Wow that is so nice of you to say, I really appreciate it! It really feels great to know someone enjoyed my game :D

Another tetris game!!!! This was such a fun idea and I'm such a fan of multidirectional tetris. My only feedback would be (1) I wish there was a way to speed up the current block moving down for even more strategic planning and (2) I wish it was clearer when the tiles would be wiped out since I had to experiment a lot to figure that out. Incredibly fun and unique idea though!

Developer(+1)

Haha thank you so much!

Oh very nice idea, being able to speed up the 'falling' block would be awesome. Maybe I can bind that to the spacebar or something?

Thanks for playing :)

Submitted(+2)

This was actually peak! I am a sucker for classic tetris in general and this concept works extremely well, I also love the retro arcade style music!

My only issue with it is dat I found it difficult to get the hang on which buttons toated what and keep getting them confused but that's honestly just a skill issue on my part.

Great idea and great execution, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! Yeah, I agree that it's easy to accidentally rotate the wrong shape. Maybe a more clear ui or using 2 keys that are further apart on the keyboard will help.

Thanks for the play!

Submitted(+2)

This concept is incredible. "Tetris but in every direction" is ingenious and incredibly fun to play.

PS: There is a bug where rotating into a block can cause overlap.

Developer(+1)

Thank you :D also thanks for pointing out the bug. I'll check it out asap!

Submitted(+2)

Nice reinterpretation of the classic that is Tetris, good work!

Developer(+2)

Thanks :) I appreciate you playing!
