Really satisfying to hit the enemies! It starts really slowly tho, so you might lose players because of that, so this could be something to take into account in your next game, or if you continue developing this one. Nice pendulum effect with the giant and small one :)

My ears felt a bit lonely. The knockback on the player when relesing the small enemy wasn't a great idea i think, and the spin knocking back enemies off of you did not feel that elegant, but overall it was a great experience, very vampire survivor-like game :D

Developer

thanks for the feedback! I absolutely agree that it starts very slowly, I was trying to balance it cause it got hard way too fast and I went too far without noticing, and the audio is very lacking, what little sounds I did manage to include were very last minute haha

I'll mess around with the player knockback to see if I can improve it (or if not remove it entirely) but what did you mean about the spin knocking back enemies? you meant the ones inside the rope? if so then yeh, that did feel rough and jerky, I might remove that too but it would make it way harder to swing enemies, so I'll find some other solution probably

again, thank you so much for the honest feedback, I really appreciate it! and I'm glad you enjoyed it :D

Submitted(+1)

Yes, i meant the rope. I think if the player was a bit faster than the enemies would've been better, as the rope didn't immediately knock enemies back, so i had to pray i would reach them again in time.

Developer

ohhhhh yeh, yeh, that was cause I put a minimum velocity requirement for the spinning enemies before they can deal damage and for the rope before it pushes enemies back so that you have to think about whether you have enough space to do it or if not then dash away OR you can get the angular bobentum upgrade which makes them gain the required speed almost instantly, I thought you were referring more to how it looked

Submitted

Ah i see, there was an upgrade for this! when i played i didn't really used dash, should've used it to get away, yea. This way feels a bit unintuitive to use it for me tho. for me dash is dodging something, and not for running away to have more space. but could just be me, as i'm used to games, where i can outrun a bad situation and only dash if that would've been inevitable

Developer(+1)

I get that, I get that, my intention was to use it more often as a movement tool which is why I made it recharge relatively fast, though I definitely could've done a better job communicating all of that

Submitted(+1)

I was going to leave after the second round, but then I realized Bob has a wife and kids and cats and dogs and... something. So I just stayed a little longer. I'm glad I did it, tho! Cuz I learned so many new moves, like grabbing a giant and the small one at the same time makes you immune to damage and increases the attack range, or stuns the giant one with explosive, grabs him, and does more damage than the small one. I didn't get to the point where I get to cover half of the screen with enemies exploding, but it's good to know you pour so much effort into the combat system. Good job!

Developer(+1)

OMG YEEEEES!! thank you so much for sticking through it enough to get there!! I really wanted each enemy to have a different use and for them to have different interactions, and I intended to make the stun state for both the bigger bobs to have a different graphic animation to let you know they're stunned, but I ran out of time for that so I don't think many people realized you can stun them lol you actually made my day, thank you so much xD I hope to redo this later with even more interactions like that and ofc actual polish and balance so it's playable haha

Submitted(+1)

Happy to hear that! Have to give credit to that message that held me back. Who's gonna know that would work, haha. I'm looking forward to seeing the upgrade!

Developer(+1)

I didn't think that would actually work, I was just having fun cause I was learning how to make UI xD I'll certainly try not to disappoint with the update o7

Submitted(+1)

Really like the game feel~ Does feel like the combat deal quite some heavy damage. I thought Bob is a child until I noticed that he got a wife and kids, and a dog.

Developer(+1)

as well as two cats and a hamster, his family would be quite sad if he never made it back home 👁👁 I'm glad you like how it feels, and yeah the balance has some real issues haha I plan to fix those later after rebuilding it cause I am NOT touching that mess of a code ever again lmaoo

Submitted(+1)

Bob has huge responsibility ngl

Submitted(+1)

Really satisfying game!!! The upgrades are also really powerful and fun

Developer(+1)

thanks!! I'm super proud of the upgrades, I really like it when an upgrade actually affect the way you play and isn't just a +5% damage or something like that lol

Submitted(+1)

It got real serious when I started spinning two Bobs at once - this was fun, the hit effects were satisfying every time!

Developer(+1)

wait till you can spin 4 at once, that's when it gets SERIOUS serious :D glad you liked it

Submitted(+1)

Very fun! the grapple mechanic is real fun to play around with, it's great smacking them around.

What do feel like it's missing is a little bit of background music that would've made the whole thing come together!

also I think I had a bug, after dying I pressed ''seek revenge'' cuz I assumed that was the try again button and the health and progress bars dissapeared, the functionality was still there just the visuals were missing.

Fun idea, fun game, well done!

Developer

glad you like it, snappy :D the game's pretty rough, I had to overlook so much to actually get it out in time 😭 some music would absolutely be a great addition

also, honse 3!? I gotta get in on that, though I didn't know we had a honse 2 lol

Submitted(+1)

Honse 2 is still a wip :c but honse 3 seems to be doing well with the public!

Super satisfying. As a screenshake enjoyer, I very much enjoyed the strong screenshake. Hitting enemies in general felt really good, with the sound, the squash, the white flash, and the knockback. The only real problem I had with it was that it got pretty repetitive after only a couple minutes, but otherwise I loved it! Simple, well executed concept, and some of the best feeling combat out of any of the entries I've played. Great job!

Developer(+1)

yeeeees, LOVE that crunchy feeling in games, I'll absolutely lean into that more if I end up refining it, and try to give it some more variety. glad you like it!

Submitted(+1)

boy, he's hurlin!!! this was so satisfying. i love the mechanic and the upgrades felt fun and meaningful :D i like the different enemies!

felt like it was super easy to get accidentally get hurled into an enemy and take damage, and i couldnt figure out a way to restore health. nice visuals, also!!

Developer(+1)

the bob that hurled!! now you're a hurling bob too, welcome to the club ;) the game's definitely not ready for a long play session the way it is, the health thing is a big oversight and it doesn't help that you can get damaged by the bobs you throw, so there's almost no way to consistently avoid damage, but don't you worry!! all will be fixed in "Hurlin' Bob: The Rebobbening"!! more juice, more hurls, and more bobs!! (not actually a thing, but we'll see lol)

Submitted(+1)

This game is great, feels REALLY satisfying with what's there and you can feel that depth creeping in when you gotta make the more weird decisions in the moment to moment gameplay. My biggest critique is that I couldn't figure out how to get back any health, which felt a little odd, and that the bigger enemies seemed to lack sound which you can really feel when some other sounds are in there and feel really responsive. Overall, very fun game!

Developer

thank you, thank you!! I definitely did a poor job with optimizing the difficulty, I spent so much time working on the grappling mechanic and the upgrades so I didn't have much time left to actually playtest and balance the game lol health definitely needs some attention but so do the enemy spawn rates among other stuff. and I'm with you on the big enemies lacking sound, I was so pissed when I noticed that AHHHHH

Submitted(+1)

Incredible game!! I really really like this one. The mechanic is really funny and the upgrades all feel really cool. The juice is nice, feels so good to mow down some nasties once you get a few upgrades. The art is super nice too. The palette ties everything together very well.

The HUD disappears on death and doesn't seem to come back so I just refreshed each time.

The death screen is amazing. Very funny serious stuff. Had a great time with this one <3

Developer(+1)

thank you!! I'm glad you liked the upgrades, I wanted all of them to feel worth it, and the palette was doing a lot of heavy lifting for the art lol
and just so you know, bob's family is very happy that you wanted to take revenge for him  o7

Submitted(+1)

O snap, I'm back! Wow, you came far fast. Love the art style you've got now. Cool effects, slick mechanic. The level up is solid too. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

welcome back, friend ;) I figured I could do more art if I just have everyone be a static sprite, but even then I didn't think I'd actually be able to draw all of it in the last night lol I'm really glad you liked it!

Submitted(+1)

The game felt soo good so satsfying

Also i really apolgize for bob family :(

My feedback is like to add music and sfx!

and some animations for enemies

Really loved the art!

Developer

bob's hamster will be devastated :c

with enough bob fans I will absolutely go back and finish this, add music, animations, the whole package

Submitted(+1)

its super satisfying when you ricochet yourself while grabbing a large enemy

Developer

try getting the "Professional Bob" upgrade and do it again for even more satisfaction ;)

Submitted(+1)

Love the graphics

Developer(+1)

thank you!! I forget to put it in the description, but I used a lospec palette and that helped so much

Submitted(+1)

oh this is fantastic i maybe stumbled across it but i can really use this site, thanks for the heads up! i just signed up

The grapple mechanic is very satisfying! With some graphics and audio this could really shine!

I am putting in a placeholder rating at the moment but will check back later.

Developer

thank you so much!! I promise you will not be disappointed hehe
come back in 12 hours and it'll be ready ;)
