Of all the mouse wheel spinning games, I think this is one of my favorites so far since the wheel spinning mechanic actually feels like part of the game and not forced. I do think the game could use something like a speed bar to indicate how long the vinyl has before it stops spinning though, because it seems like the vinyl has some "momentum," so  you don't need to spin the mouse wheel continuously (I usually rolled the mouse wheel between notes).

Just wished the other song worked :( but still fun while it lasted nonetheless.

Very fun game and I like the idea, but scrolling the scroll wheel of my mouse that much made me hand cramp instantly LOL there could be some kind of accessibility about doing some other kind of input? Very stylish though!

I love this concept! Having to multitask is actually quite fun, and I can see cool potential for different notes, or even having to control your scroll-wheel so that it's not always constant spinning! Or maybe a mechanic where you need to control the scroll speed as well? You could also do something where the direction you scroll will determine which way to record turns, and could do some cool things with reversing the song? There's lots of potential here!

I think some of the notes felt off-beat, at least the Pop SFX that plays whenever you play a note. It would have been really nice if that pop was on beat with the music, adding to the game feel and satisfaction! I also wasn't sure if there was any penalty to stopping the music. It looked like my combo was still maintained? Maybe having some sort of penalty to stop the music would add some more difficulty to the game, but for a jam it's perfectly fine.

Overall, really great job! The idea is really unique and fun, and you nailed the visuals and polish! Congrats!

Thanks so much for playing the game and the feedback!

I enjoyed this game! Incredible concept for the mouse wheel spinning the record. Very unique and promising! (Can't wait for Run If You Can we'd love to play more) Full marks from me as well :D

Thanks for your take on the game!

So groovy! I would absolutely love to play more songs like this (understand the limitations of a jam game though, I also only managed to make 1 level for my game). And it looks really polished, the menu animation is awesome.

Developer

Hehe! Thanks for playing the game! I'm also like the menu animation very much, so proud of it :))

My scroll finger is tired lol, I completed the song and got 24230.  This was a pretty fun little rhythm game , I enjoyed it. The song was pretty groovy and the game was pretty juicy. Great Job!

So glad that you enjoyed it! Thanks for playing!

nice visuals and the notes are charted well, only critique is that the notes' on-hit sound is a bit delayed. well done :D

Developer

Thanks for playing our game! It means a lot to me!

Game plays pretty well, the audio for hitting a note plays notably delayed which throws the player off imo. The rhythms get more interesting as it goes on, it's well designed in that regard and looks pretty nice. The scrolling didn't really add that much since I mostly just scrolled every beat, being able to integrate it more into the gameplay would've been pretty cool!

Developer(+1)

Yeah! I'm sorry about the inconvenience. This was my first time making a game in this genre, so it was definitely a challenge. I'm also not very good with music, and creating the chart manually by tapping along to the beat was surprisingly difficult for me.

That said, I'm really proud that I managed to finish it. There were several times when I wanted to scrap the whole idea because I thought making a rhythm game was just beyond my abilities.

Thanks so much for taking the time to play the game and for your feedback! I really appreciate it.

I like the retro theme visuals, what an intresting take on the theme! Game also plays nicely.

This is such a great game! I think you are geniuses because you came up with the brilliant idea of countinuously spinning the mouse wheel in order to keep the song playing. However, it means that people can only play the game if they have a mouse. I don't usually use a mouse and had to find a piece I didn't know was missing in order to be able to play the game. What about, in a later version, having the possibility of drawing circles with your mouse to play the song so people who don't have a mouse can not only play, but also feel the game? The visuais and UI are excellent (I play music and am delighted by the background on the main menu), but the audio isn't smooth (at least for me), which affects UX a bit (although it is still great). Even though I love very long songs, I think these songs have the right duration, because it gets tiring to have to continuously spin the wheel (I mean, the vinyl) during that. But, after all, it adds to the challenge. This is a music game like no other, and it seems unreal that it is from a Jam. In the future, you could add more songs or different buttons (for example, notes can appear as blue, red and yellow to be played with A, S or D) (and don't forget to fix the Space bug). Excellent job!

Developer

Thanks so much for the review for our game! I also think of the circle drawing at first but my teammates think it's a bit tiring so i have to change it into scrolling the mouse wheel.

Oh, and about the mouse wheel, i develop and debug the game on my Macbook, so i usually swipe my trackpad with 2 fingers so it's easier, when i export the game and actually find a mouse to play, i also figured out that the audio is a bit not so smooth, sorry for the inconvenience.

About adding more songs in the future, Minny also did create a few original songs, but it didn't fit the game, so we decided to proceed with royalty-free song on the internet, just to share our idea to people in this jam.

Thanks for playing our game, once again!

Incredibly polished visuals!
It was fun scrolling to the beat with the mouse hand and hitting "A" on the other.
btw I thought the "A" was just another bind for starting the song since I have a controller plugged in. Caused a little confusion since it doesn't look like a keyboard "A" but an controller "A".
I appreciate the leniency in hitting the notes. For a jam game that's played in a browser it's better to be very generous with that!

I think scrolling might get a bit tiring if there was more than 1 song. That's my only complaint game idea wise.

Nice music, enjoyable gameplay,  great job!

Developer

Yeah! I see that the "A" image in the tutorial might be confusing as well :)) And also thought the mouse wheel scrolling can be tiring, but i want to do something with the jam's theme, so i kept going with that idea in the end! Thanks for your take on our game!

Submitted(+1)

The scrolling was fine for the current length as I said but I'm curious if there's some possibility to maybe have the scrolling be rhythmic and part the beatmap somehow.
Like maybe you don't have to scroll constantly but there's a "wall note" and you change the direction or something.

The mouse wheel to keep the record spinning is such a great idea! I also think you guys did a great job and making the game play engaging with just one note. It is a shame you weren't able to squeeze in the other songs. If the music is original, nice work on that too. A lot to like here!

Developer

Thanks so much for trying it out!

One of my favorite entries so far! First of all, the game feels very polished. I loved the art style, and the sound design was on point too. Overall, the experience was very enjoyable. Second of all, the gameplay was really fun. I liked that you had to use your mouse wheel to spin the vinyl it actually made it feel like you were spinning a real vinyl, if you know what I mean.

Developer

Aw! Thanks so much for your kind words! They really mean a lot to me! I'm very glad that you love it!

Amazing music and art! it looks great and the timing the hit the notes also feels good with the music. It is sad that you couldnt finish the game but what you got there is already really great! good job

Thanks for trying it out! So happy that you find it good!

So fun! Music art and game feel are all top notch, great job! Would love to keep playing with even more songs. Really loved it!

The music in this game is phenomenal. Creative beat game. I literally played the Run level just to hear the song. One thing I'd suggests, and it may just be me, but add another spot to see how long the songs has left closer to where you are looking while playing. Focusing on the left/middle for the notes and then trying to peak across the screen to see the time made me miss notes, but honestly, it's probably a skill issue. Great game!

Developer

Thanks for your suggestions for our game and trying it out!

Fun game! I wanted more levels, which is a great problem to have for a game jam :) The whole experience was great — even the song-choosing menu was fun. I only have one small note, which is that I wish the record animation spun in the same direction as the music notes. Great job!

Developer
